Do You Believe in Ghosts?

Horrifyingly SHINee: A Collection

It was another typical day for the members of SHINee when the youngest member walked in carrying a box under his arm.

Eyeing the box suspiciously, Jinki was the first to speak. “What’s that?”

Grinning, Taemin set it down on the floor in the middle of the semi-circle his hyungs were forming and lifted the lid. “Its a Ouija board. It was just sitting outside the door.”

“Oh I’ve heard about them.” Key said, eyeing the board with trepidation. “Nothing good comes out of playing with something like that.”

“Something like what?” Jinki asked, poking at the pointer Taemin had just lifted out of the box.

“Its just a silly game.” Minho said, rolling his eyes, “Some people think its a way to communicate with the dead, but look,” He pointed to the game board. “Its made by a company that makes games. Its just something to creep stupid kids out.”

Taemin glared at his favourite hyung. “Shut it. If its so silly, lets play.”

Minho shrugged. “I’m game.”

The others agreed and although Key looked rather nervous, they placed their fingers on the pointer and began.

“So now we ask it questions and it spells out the answer.”

“Its in English.” Jonghyun pouted, “Why is it in English?”

“Novelty.” Minho said.

Ignoring everyone, Taemin asked the first question amidst groans and laughter. “Who will be the first of us to get married?”

The pointer slid smoothly across the board.

Holding their breath, everyone watched at it spelled out Taemin’s name.

“Not funny guys, who was pushing it.” Jonghyun said, thinking that the pointer would spell out him or Jinki.

Taemin laughed, “Hyung, don’t forget I did We Got Married. So clearly I was the first to get married.”

“Oh. Makes sense.”

So they carried on, asking silly questions until suddenly under their fingers the pointer began to spin.

“Stop it.” Key said, voice quaking, “Whoever is doing this stop.”

The four others went white, none of them were doing any such thing.

“Screw this, I’m done.” Key said, starting to movie his fingers off the pointer.

“NO!” Taemin yelled. “Don’t just remove your hand, you have to ask if its alright.”

And so they asked, one by one, all getting the same answer.

“Why can’t we?” Jonghyun asked, not thinking that he was asking a question of the board, concerned as to why it pointed ‘no’ for each of them.

Staring in horror, the men watched as the pointer spelled out the words, ‘beg me.’

Key whimpered, “Please, oh please let me out of this.” His voice shook as unshed tears slowly made their way to his eyes.

The pointer shifted to yes.

Fingers flying away, Key shuffled back, wrapping his arms around his knees and holding tight.

Again the went around, begging to be able to let go. This time, all but one were told yes.

Fingers pressed tightly to the pointer, the only one left was Taemin. “Why?” He asked, confidence shaken as the pointer moved without his effort.

‘Christian.’ The answer came, ‘remove your talisman.

“My what?” He asked confused.

‘Rosary.’

The one thing he hated to remove, something that stayed with him even during concerts.

“Don’t.” Key said, his eyes wide with terror. “Its protecting you.”

A cold chill went down Taemin’s spine and he knew that the only way to let go of the Oujia board was by taking off the only thing that was protecting him from it.

Although terrified by what could happen next, Taemin lifted his arm so that Jonghyun could remove the religious piece.

It felt like something horrible descended on him the second the warm glass beads left his skin. Shuddering, he asked the question again.

The pointer moved to ‘yes.’

The moment his fingers cleared the board, Minho was picking it up and taking it out. The front door of their dorm slammed, telling everyone that he wasn’t taking any chances and leaving it in the building any longer.

“Its just a piece of trash.” Jonghyun said with a quivering voice. “Minho’s putting it where it belongs.”

Feeling much better now that the connection was broken, Taemin took a breath and spoke, “Honestly guys, I think we just got ourselves worked up for nothing.”

“You wouldn’t have said that a minute ago.” Jinki said, sitting with his back to the couch, arms crossed.

“And you’re shaking.” Key said before he moved to draw the shaking Taemin into his arms, Jonghyun held out his rosary.

The pretty cross seemed to burn cold as he held it in his hand. He had to set it down, unable to wear the thing he most treasured.

The door slammed again, moments having passed in fearful silence. “Its gone.” Minho called out before he stepped back into the room. “Stupid thing, next time Tae, don’t pick up weird and bring it inside.”

“Okay.” The youngest answered. “That wasn’t any fun anyways.” He stood up, moving away from Key’s caring embrace. “I’m going to bed.”

The others agreed and, no one wanting to admit they were afraid, went off to their newly separated rooms.

It took him a while to go to sleep without the familiar feeling of his rosary on his arm, but finally Taemin managed after tucking the object under his pillow where he wouldn’t accidentally brush against it in the night.

The next morning he awoke to an odd smell in his room. At first wondering if Jinki or Jonghyun had burnt something again, he quickly realized that it was coming from his room.

Hanging his feet over the side of the bed, Taemin stood and searched for the awful smell.

It came from his closet.

Sitting on the top shelf, covered in something unknown, smelling like death was the Oujia board.  His eyes widened as he stared at it. Minho had thrown it in the dumpster outside the building.

Or maybe he didn’t.

Reaching out, he grabbed the gross board. He gagged as the smell got stronger. Thinking his hyung did it to scare him, Taemin strolled out of his room to confront Minho.

Minho’s eyes widened as he saw the board he knew he threw out. “What’s that doing here?”

“You didn’t do it? Put it in my room to scare me?” Taemin asked.

“No.” Minho said, eyes wide, staring as Key entered the kitchen.

“What’s that!” He shouted, drawing Jinki and Jonghyun from their own respective corners of the dorm.

“What the hell Taemin!” Jonghyun shouted. “Why do you have that again!”

“It just appeared in my room!” The younger found himself in tears he couldn’t explain. “I just want it gone!”

“I’ll bury it.” Jonghyun said, “Maybe that will keep it away.”

Taking the gross smelling box away, Jonghyun returned nearly an hour later with dirty covering his hands.

The day then progressed as usual, no one thinking anything of the board until they returned to the dorm.

Sitting in the middle of the floor, where they had played with it the night before, was the dirty covered board.

“The river.” Jinki said, “It will float away.”

“Go.” Key said, toeing the board over to the eldest.

Jinki left and everyone else went to bed.

The next morning a steady dripping sound woke the youngest. He froze, still unable to put on his rosary, he gripped it burning cold.

In his closest, the dripping wet, but now clean and no longer smelling, Ouija board was sitting on his shelf.

He screamed.

The other members came running.

Only Key was able to remain calm at this point. While he was still terrified, he had accepted this horrible happening in his house.

Picking up the wet board, he headed to the kitchen.

Lighter fluid, a bit of alcohol and half a dozen matches later, the board was a pile of ash to be washed down the sink.

Everyone let out a sigh of relief and Taemin felt relief rush through him as the cold burn in his hand faded.

His rosary slid over his wrist, sitting back where it belonged.

That day the group went through their activities happier than they’d been in a long time.

Feeling relieved, Taemin said good night to his hyungs early.

It was curiosity and a nagging feeling in his stomach that made him open his closet doors.

His heart seemed to stop as he saw the little piles of wet ashes on the closet floor.

The ashes spelt out something that made his blood run cold. ‘Never burn a Ouija board.’

Chapter 2: oh. Oh thanks. I should've known not to read this at night, but I didn't think I would get this scared. I guess I'm easy to get scared or somethin' but the hair on the back of my neck is standin' up, and I feel like shuddering. Maybe it's because the thought of someone in my window always made me scared, too. I would never look at night, even when I was a kid. :(

Chapter 32: Its good but I really dont feel the satisfaction of reading a horror..... in the end there must be at least one twist or a gruesome death so that it is a horror story.... anyways nice update... why dont you try one with a clown?? As to me, I love clowns in the day but that srsly doesnt apply to me for night.... clowns are wicked at night! Imagine when at midnight, you hear a knock and open to see a plastic clown grinning widely at you!! Will you take it in? But your pic did make me jump in horror!! Are you striving to give me a cardiac arrest at this young age? ?
