“Now I don’t know what you kids were up to last night, and I don’t want to know. I just never want to see that kind of horrendous behaviour again!” The Principal, Mr Simmons, was angry, and he wasn’t letting us go very easily. “From this afternoon, for the rest of the week, the four of you will be cleaning the Gymnasium and the change rooms every day after school. Do you understand?”

 “But sir, we didn’t-” I tried to interrupt.

 “Do You Understand?!”

 “Yes, Sir.” We answered softly, each fuming for our own reasons.

 After school, I dragged Kevin to the gym, wanting to get the punishment over and done with as soon as I could. ‘I didn’t do anything’, I wanted to yell, but I didn’t exactly have the guts to yell at the principal. Stupid principal, I sighed. Stupid Eunye. Stupid Mina. Stupid Ke- wait he didn’t do anything either. Aishh. If I had never fallen for Mina, then those two girls would still be best friends and none of this would’ve happened. But I did. But then, if I hadn’t been so nice to Mina’s family, maybe they would have forgotten about me and not made Mina transfer to our freaking school! I mean out of all the school is the state, why ours? Why, our goddamn school?!  Kevin’s whining brought me out of my frustrating thoughts.

 “Ahh Eli! Let Go! IT HURTS! ELI!! Aishh. Eli! Can you hear me?! Earth to Eli…LET GO OF MY HAND! YOU’RE CUTTING OFF MY CIRCULATION HERE!! Aishhh”

 “Huh…?” I turned to see, Kevin’s skinny little wrist in my hand and him practically tripping over his feet, trying to keep up behind me. “Oh, sorry.” I said, letting go of his hand abruptly. I suppose he wasn’t expecting me to let go so fast because the next thing I knew, he was on his but, on the floor. That made me laugh.

 “Yahh! Don’t laugh and help me!” he pouted and reached his hand out to me.

 I couldn’t help but chuckle as I reached out for his hand to pull him up. What happened next, no one was expecting. He pulled too hard and me, not hard enough. I ended up on top of him, our faces inches away from each other.  For a few seconds, we were frozen. Whether I couldn’t get up, or didn’t want to, I couldn’t tell, and I was kinda freaking out. That was, until I saw Kevin’s face un-freeze and contort.

 “Eli~ get off~ You’re too heavy!”

 I cleared my throat and rolled off him. Gosh that was embarrassing. Strangely enough though, when we looked at each other, we couldn’t help but burst out laughing. Nothing was funny, but it felt good to laugh and get rid of the awkward air.

 We stood up, successfully this time, and headed over to the gym where we saw the girls already standing and, who would’ve guessed, arguing!

 Stuff this, I’m taking control.

 “Eunhye, Mina, first of all, stop fighting.”

 “But baby-” Eunhye started, but I shushed her with a glare.

 “Second of all, get along cause you’re gonna be working with each other. Im working with Kevin and we’re cleaning the gym. You guys are gonna be good little girls and are gonna go and clean the change rooms. None of us are allowed to leave before everything is clean and I don’t wanna stay here till midnight cause you girls can’t get over something that happened like, 5 years ago! Eunhye’s my girlfriend and that’s that. So, sorry to say this, but shut up and get to work.”

 The girls looked scared and I watched them scurry off without and second thought with a satisfied grin. I turned to see Kevin watching them leave with a proud smile too. He saw me looking and gave me a look.

 “Hey Eli, ermm…Could you explain to me what happened…? Cause im kinda out of the loop and its making me confused…”

 “Sure. Im gonna explain everything. Let’s just get started first okay?” I assured him.

 He grinned and nodded, putting out a fist. “LET’S DO THIS!”
