Decisions
Dara Chronicles
Dara's POV
My uncle is busy preparing for our next move. The same as before, he took care of everything.
My transcript of records, a new place we’ll be moving to, a new job.
2 days before the Recognition Ball, I was lying on my bed with a pen and paper in my hand.
I decided already; but the paper in front of me remains empty. How would you cut ties with the person you consider the most important?
My parents are different; they died.
But me; I’m making a decision on letting him go. Making him move on without me; make me just a part of his memory; and making him a part of mine.
And then I started writing, pouring out everything my young heart can say.

The next day at breakfast:
“Dara..,” my uncle said.
“Hmm?” I asked.
“Why didn’t you tell me about the Recognition Ball at your school?” he said while sipping his coffee.
I looked at him chewing my breakfast and swallowed.
“I’m not going.” I just said.
“Why not?” he asked, the same way Young Bae asked me.
“I just… I don’t want too.” I lied. I don’t want my uncle feeling guilty of anything.
It’s just a ball; I’ll still live.
Although a night dancing with Young Bae is really something.
No! no! I don’t want to think about it anymore.
“Dara…” my uncle said. I know he’ll try to talk me into going so I took my bag and went to the door.
“I’m going uncle!” I said and smiled at him.
At school:
All my classmates talk about was the coming dance tomorrow.
Today is the last day of class. Mostly it’s just like a free period class; our teachers are letting us do whatever we want except to leave the room. I can hear Yuri boasting to her minions of the dress she’ll be wearing; on how it’s made by a famous designer and how expensive it is; and how she pities those people who can’t come;
Meaning ME!
I looked to the seat beside me; it is vacant.
Young Bae is in a meeting for the Ball Committee. I don’t know who he’s coming with, but with how loud Yuri is… she’s saying she’s going wit
