All alone
Inside my dreams(Jiyeon POV)
A tear falls from his eye.
Maybe it's just some friend of his that's a girl.
Maybe this is the first time he's seen his friend in a long while.
Yeah, that makes sense.
Except, It’s not just any girl.
It’s Suzy.
Suzy.
“Don't you know? Suzy and L were a couple."
"Apparently, L rrreeeeaaaallllllyyyy loved her, but one day she just disappeared. POOF. Gone."
"What a stupid girl. Although, you know. Her departure did really benefit us all. That's why L joined the band. It was to get over his first love."
First love.
Why can’t you see me?
I’m right here.
“Suzy-ah, there’s something in your hair!”
“What is it?” She widens her eyes.
It’s just a petal.
“It’s here.” He points to his own head. “Near your bangs.”
“Where?” She touches the other side of her head. “Here?”
“Ani.” He shakes his head. “Ah, whatever. I’ll do it!” He holds her head in his hands, and gently removes the white petal.
Why couldn’t you do this for me?
“Oppa!” The girl blushes, and tries to cower away.
“Suzy.” He whispers. “I think...” He leans in.
“Yeah?” She mouths.
“I think I love you.” He smiles.
L.
I’m right here, L.
Why can’t you love me too?
“Oppa.” Her eyes twinkle. “I think I love you too.”
No.
This can’t be.
“I’m glad.” He leans in further. “Love you.” He mutters, before kissing her on the lips.
Kissing her on the lips.
Kissing her.
I try to push them apart but it’s useless.
My hands are as thin as air against their solid bodies.
It hurts, L.
It really hurts.
“Jiyeon-ah!”
L’s beautiful face starts to disappear in front of my eyes.
NO!
“Jiyeon-ah! Wake up, honey!”
L starts to walk away, his hands intertwined with Suzy’s.
Don’t leave me, L.
L turns around, seeming to finally notice me.
But Suzy stops him. “Oppa, it’s useless to look behind you.” She smiles.
Please don’t leave me, L.
Suzy turns around.
She tightens her grip around L.
“Mine.” She smirks.
“Jiyeon-ah! Please get up, honey!”
My eyes flutter open.
The bright lights distort my vision momentarily.
“Jiyeon, baby! Finally you’re awake!” Mother dabs her wet eyes. “I know you want to be alone, but please eat this okay?”
Mother goes on, but my mind can only focus on the dream.....no, the nightmare.
I nod my head in between her rant.
“Omma.” I whisper. “Just leave me alone.”
And she does.
I shuffle around the bed, not wanting to wake up.
It’s been about 2 weeks.
Maybe, I should return to school?
Tsch, yeah. Who am I kidding.
I'll probably be the of every joke, if I do.
BEEP.
I pick my phone off my desk.
36 missed calls today.
At least someone cares about me.
I click on the missed calls.
16 missed calls from Han Sunhwa.
7 missed calls from Jung Daehyun.
14 missed calls from Yong Junhyung.
Wait, what?
I click on one of his most recent voice mail.
“Yah, Park Jiyeon! I don’t care if the world is going to end, and you lost your modeling job. You need to come to school! Stop making people worried.....I’ll wait for you. So, you better come quickly.”
If only it was that easy.
No missed calls from him.
A tear falls down.
It feels like theres a big void in my heart.
I look at the soup, Mother had placed on my head.
My stomach clenches, and I rush for the bathroom.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I jump over the small fence.
A cold breeze chills my body.
It feels good to be out.
With money in my hand, I walk towards the closest convenience store, trying to avoid Sunhwa’s house, just in case she’s awake.
Looking up at the night sky, I hear a rustle.
I turn around to check, but there’s no one.
Maybe, I’m just hallucinating.
I look at the bright neon sign, of the convenience store, before deciding to enter.
“Jiyeon-ah!” The clerk chirps. “Aigoo! You look so tired! Your eyebags are huge, and your lips look so chapped!”
Tsch. I wonder what Manager Oppa would think if he saw me right now.
“Can I have a pack of kimbap?” I whisper, my throat hoarse from lack of use.
“Here you go!” He smiles, as I hand him the money. “Take care of yourself, okay? And come again, soon!”
I walk out of the store, towards our school’s park.
When I get there, the wind starts blowing harder, causing the old trees to creak, and the swings to swing in the air.
With a freezing hand, I stop one swing, and sit down.
Back, and forth.
Back, and forth I swing.
L.
Even if I don’t want to think about him, his face pops up in my mind.
His smiling face.
I stuff a kimbap into my mouth, trying to stop any thoughts from entering my head.
Why did he have to go to her?
As I chew on the cold kimbap, the tears threaten to erupt.
I really did love you, L.
“It’s okay, you know.”
I loved everything about him.
Even if it me-
Who said that?
“Hello, Jiyeon.” A short male appears from behind a tree. His glasses glisten in the moonlight, as he adjusts his pants.
What in the world is he doing?
“Wh-who are you?” I stutter, quickly wiping my eyes for any sign of tears.
“Me?” He murmurs. “I-I’m your fan.”
Fan?
“Look, I’m sorry, but I’d like to be alone right now.” I mutter, standing up to leave the field.
The boy grabs my hand.
“Jiyeon-ah, I just got here. Don’t leave.” He pouts.
“Let me go!” I try to push past him, but his grip is too strong. “Yah! I’m really not in the mood for this! Let me go!”
“Do you not recognize me?” He widens his eyes. “I’m Minhyuk. Lee Minhyuk.”
I scan his face. His greasy hair, and awkward pose don’t ring a bell.
“No. Should I?”
He sighs.
“We’ve been in the same school for 6 years now.” He bites his lip.
I squint my eyes to see his face clearly, but nothing about him calls out to me.
“I’m really sorry, but I seriously don’t remember you.”
“It’s okay, Jiyeon-ah. I understand.” He nods. “I’ll give you a hint though. Remember, all those little gifts and presents you got everyday?”
Those little snacks, and cartons of milk?
“That was you?” I shout incredulously.
His pursed lips break into a smile.
