The next day when they went back to school, Hyukjae was in a bad mood. He had a frown on his face and he emitted a dangerous aura. Even Donghae was afraid to approach him when he saw Hyukjae at the gate waiting for him. Donghae hesitantly approached him, refusing to make eye contact and softly asked him what the matter was.
Not realizing that it was Donghae talking to him, Hyukjae half shouted, half sneered, "What do you want!" Donghae cowered in fear at the response he got from Hyukjae and that was when he realized that it was Donghae he shouted at.
"I'm so sorry! I didn't realize that it was you. Hey, you don't have to be frightened of me. It was my fault for shouting at you. I...I just had a little problem. I'm sorry, ok?" Hyukjae explained as he apologized.
Donghae nodded, biting his lips nervously.
"Sh...Shall we go? Unless..." Donghae glanced up at Hyukjae, afraid he would anger the vampire. Hyukjae flashed a smile at him before grabbing his hand and walking into the school compound.
Halfway to class, they passed the bullies that Hyukjae had beaten up. Hyukjae clasped Donghae's hand even tighter as they walked past them and couldn't help but growl and glare menacingly at them. The bullies who had wanted to approach Donghae all cowered in fear when they saw Hyukjae and almost ran off in fright. Donghae couldn't help feel a sense of security at the action and inwardly smiled. It felt nice to be protected.
"Donghae, I have something on later so I can't fetch you from class. I'm sorry, but do you think you can go home on your own later?" Hyukjae asked. Despite the fact that he hated having to meet Sungmin because of his ex-girlfriend, he had to. He wanted an explanation and to be able to move on from his past. When he saw Donghae nervously nod in acknowledgement, Hyukjae placed a comforting hand on Donghae's shoulder before leaving.

When school had ended, Donghae out of curiosity went to find Hyukjae. He was lonely and wanted Hyukjae to 'cure' his loneliness. He didn't mind having to wait for Hyukjae to finish whatever he was doing, he just wanted to feel safe again and being without Hyukjae made him have a sense of insecurity.
As he approached Hyukjae's classroom, he heard shouting and a female's voice. Worried, he peeked into the classroom and saw Hyukjae arguing with a female that Donghae didn't recognize while Sungmin was just standing at one side, a frown on his face as he sighed.
Sungmin must have seen Donghae as he immediately went to the two to stop them from arguing. Hyukjae turned to the door and gasped in shock. What was Donghae doing here?
"Who's he? Your new toy?" The female asked, condescendingly as she glared at Donghae.
Hyukjae snapped his head towards the female and slapped her, hard. Everybody could see that he was fuming from the remark that she made.
"What in the actual did you just say, Hyoyeon? Donghae is NOT a toy unlike someone here who is trying to get into a guy's pants. " Hyukjae said as he seethed in anger. No one talked about his Donghae liked that. Not even his ex-girlfriend.
Donghae could only gasp at the response made by Hyukjae. He hasn't expected Hyukjae to stand up so strongly for him. Donghae couldn't help but shiver at the glare he received from the Hyoyeon girl as Hyukjae briskly walked towards him and pulled him out of the classroom, leaving behind the stunned Sungmin.
