Chapter 4

Back to you

Minjun drove recklessly through town. He looked at the rearview mirror to tidy his disheveled hair. The rest of him looked just as messy, clothes ed, tie undone. But he didn't have time, he had a marriage to attend.

He parked hurriedly, not paying attention to the lines separating the parking spots. The place looked a little empty, but he had no time to think about it. His dongsaeng would be very disappointed in him if he missed the ceremony.

He wanted to come sooner, but was caught up in an important recording session. He was the head producer of the rookie girl band Candycandy. It was his most important project for his career and his only chance to prove his worth inside the company. But he got so immersed in the music he forgot the time.

He left the car hurriedly and dashed towards the great hall like a madman. He tried to tighten the tie and run at the same time, which caused him to bump into a plant vase. He finally put the object back in place and opened the wedding hall door. His jaw almost dropped to the floor as he saw the place empty. It couldn't be over so soon, could it? Was he so late?

“Excuse me,” he asked a woman that was organizing the place. When he got her attention, he asked, “Did the ceremony ended a long time ago?”

“The wedding didn't happen, sir,” she answered sadly, bowing and continuing her work. He stayed there, shocked to the core. Jia and Chansung were together for a while, he couldn't fathom why the marriage didn't happen. Did something bad happen to them? Like an accident?

With hands shaking, he left the hall and found himself a seat on a beautiful garden, a place he was sure would held the wedding party. Now chairs were being folded, flowers being picked, musicians gathering theirs instruments. It was like a dream that has been destroyed piece by piece, chair by chair. He retrieved his phone and called Chansung, but the line is busy. He tried Taecyeon next.

Taecyeon and Chansung have always been friends, but they got closer ever since the youngest came back from the military. They’re like water and oil when it come to personalities, but somehow they found each other again after everything they've been through. Minjun couldn't help but feel a little jealous, but he couldn't resent any of them for taking care of each other.

The sad reality is that he was in a different place in life. He had responsibilities he didn't have before. But he wished his duties didn't keep him apart from his family, from 2PM. He sighed again, getting impatient at the ringing sound playing non stop. Finally Taecyeon answered.

“Hello, who is talking?”

“Yah, how do mean who is talking. Don't you even know my number anymore?”

“Minjun?”

“Yes, babo,” he giggled.

“Where the hell have you've been, man?”

“I've been a little busy. You know how it is.”

“Oh, how's Soohyun?”

“He's great. Healthy.”

“Oh, that's awesome. I owe you guys a visit. I'm sorry for that,” Taecyeon spoke in an uncharacteristically shy tone. While he was analyzing the other’s voice, he almost forgot Chansung for a minute. The second he remembered the failed wedding, he became nervous again.

“Don't worry, we can exchange pleasantries later. What the hell happened to Chansung?” he spoke a little too harshly, but blame it on the nerves.

“Jia... Jia abandoned him, hyung.” Ouch, that must have hurt. His heart broke for Chansung, his kind dongsaeng. He didn't deserve this. In fact no one did, but the ex-groom is a very sensitive person, always wearing his heart on his sleeve. And from what he heard, Jia was very much in love with him. He couldn't wrap his head around this at all.

“Why?”

“It's so early to tell. They are talking right now, but he went outside on my yard. Should I hide myself and eavesdrop a little?” he asked, certainly entertained by his own idea. Now that’s the troll he knew. A wave of nostalgia hit his chest, reminding him of all the sweet and difficult times they went through.

“Hyung, are you there?”

“Sorry, Taec. I got caught up remembering 2PM. I guess I miss those times,” Minjun confessed sadly, his hands going through his hair in exasperation.

“You too? I've been thinking the same,” his voice had the same nostalgic tone as Minjun, a bittersweet tone that carried sadness and fondness at the same time. How he wished he could go back in time and live those times again.

“Yeah...” his voice trailed.

“What if we could get all this back, hyung?”

“You mean...”

“Yeah, we coming back as 2PM once again.”

“You know I can't, Taecyeon.” He wish his life was different, but it wasn't. He didn't resent what he had right now, he just wished he could have all the good things he loved at the same time. He wanted this so bad he was afraid of wanting it, afraid of wanting it all and end up with nothing.

“Why? Because of Soohyun?”

“You know it would be a big scandal, Taecyeon. I have a solid career now. I can't risk it.”

“Just think about it. 2PM without you is nothing. Please,” he said, prolonging the e's of the sentence in a whiny voice.

The older one couldn't help but laugh at Taecyeon's antics. “You have to have at least one person convinced. Maybe Chansung?”

“Not really, no.”

“Yah,” he said with a laugh. “Your game plan ,” he added, still giggling. But he sobered and finally said, “I'm willing to listen what you have to say. But I gotta warn you. If you think I'm hard to convince, wait until you talk to Junho. Good luck, my friend.”

“I predicted this already. Just help me to get everyone together. Just give me the chance.”

“Alright. Let's stay in touch then. Bye.”

“Bye, hyung.”

Minjun hung up, raising himself from the bench. He walked towards his car contemplating Taecyeon's words. He said he would give him a chance, but his friend barely talked and he seemed ready to accept everything he offered. But he couldn't be impulsive, not anymore.

He drove around, using the soft hum of the car to put his mind at ease. When he was ready, he drove home. It was night already, a warm starry March night. He opened the door, taking his shoes and place them on the shoe rack next.

“Soohyun,” he shouted. “Baby, I'm home.”

The person who came running always take his breath away, almost stealing his heart. His life changed forever when he met Soohyun, the man of his life. And it could never be the same again.

“Appa, you are home.”

“Yes, baby. I'm home,” he hugged the little black haired boy and smiled. He couldn't be impulsive, not anymore. He had a life to take care now.

Chapter 22: Ahhh I was reading your story before Go Crazy comeback and story was so depressive for me also cb was depressive a bit. So I gave up reading. I was thinking like that "wow this could be real, characters are so realistic, ahh so things gonna be like this for 2pm in real life..." while reading your story. T_T
Now I am in good mood, came back and started reading again. Your storylines always so beautiful and characters you gave them really match well.
Maybe story has a good ending but I think I will never get rid of the feeling that would be real for 2PM XD Still depressing XD sorry don't know why I am like this just want to write this down here.
