Chapter 12: Cleaning is not so boring

“Hey,” Yoomin arrived at the park and encountered Kyungsoo first.

The boy looked at her and then to Joonmyun, who was next to her. “Hey,”

“Do you know where teacher Kim is?” Yoomin asked him.

“He’s at the center of the park I guess,” Kyungsoo answered her and went back to work.

“Thanks,”

The two of them walked to the center of the park and finally encountered teacher Kim. “Teacher Kim?” Yoomin called him, to earn his attention.

As soon as he saw her, he walked towards her. “Do you want something?” He was all eyes and ears to hear whatever she had to say.

“We’re here because we want to help cleaning the park,” she said, earning a confused look from the teacher.

“You guys are seriously wasting a free afternoon here? Well, it’s your choice. The more people are cleaning the faster it gets cleaned, so just get whichever tools you want from there and start working,” he pointed to the place where the cleaning tools were and smiled at them.

From a few feet away, Chanyeol had already spotted them chatting. His attention was on them, not really knowing what he was doing with his cleaning tool.

“Great job hum,” the boy who was cleaning next to him laughed at his figure and shook his head.

“I bet it’s cleaner than where you’re cleaning,” Chanyeol joked around too and they both laughed, but when he looked up to where Yoomin, Joonmyun and teacher Kim were talking, he didn’t see them anymore. Where did they go?

“Booooh!” Yoomin yelled behind him, making him drop the broom he was using to scrub the ink from the ground. He turned around with a hand on his chest, with a scared look on his face.

“You scared me,” he said.

Yoomin laughed and made fun of him. “That was the intention,”

“What are you doing here? Didn’t you get a free afternoon?” He questioned her. It wasn’t that he didn’t want her there, of course, but he just didn’t think that she would waste that opportunity to help them on cleaning the park.

“I actually felt sad for you and decided to come and help you guys,” she beamed. It was something that made her happy: helping others. Even if it meant sacrificing free afternoons or benefits that she had. It made her feel good with herself. Sooyoung said (joking) that it was one of Yoomin’s worst traits.

Joonmyun looked at Yoomin and sighed. He had gone to help them because of her, but he has been left out. Deep inside he knew that something like that would happen, but he just couldn’t say no to her. It was like he was denying giving food to a puppy with “teary eyes”. It would probably weight on his conscience.

“Oh and Joonmyun came to help also,” Yoomin said, looking for him as she thought he was next to her. She turned around and saw him helping Kyungsoo out and then pointed at him to confirm what she was saying.

Chanyeol nodded and smiled. He felt quite uneasy with Joonmyun around. He didn’t know why but he just didn’t really like him. He made him feel insecure somehow. Chanyeol nodded once with his head, greeting Joonmyun and the latter did the same.

Yoomin then started helping Chanyeol out, as he scrubbed the floor and she would throw clean water so the ink would disappear. At watching them working together, Joonmyun soon wished he hadn’t come. If it was to be left out, I wouldn’t have come. He sighed.
