He can't let me go.

Match Made In Heaven

Hyukjae just stood there as intoxicating silence took over the room. He glanced at Sora, who only looked away with anger filling her eyes. Hyukjae's father let out a small smile and motioned the redhead to come fully inside. Hyukjae nodded slowly and walked next to his sister, "What's going on?" He asked softly.

Hyukjae's father's smile only grew wider, "Well, son, your dream is coming true." At that, Hyukjae's eyebrows furrowed in confusion as he placed his hands in the front pockets of his jeans, "Dream?" The older man merely nodded and ushered his wife to explain.

The middle aged woman sighed at the angry look Sora shot her before speaking up, ever so softly, "Hyukjae, your father received the chance to go to New York City for a better job, and there's already this available house that suits all of us. And this will also benefit you and your sister in so many ways, sweety. You'll be able to fulfill your dreams of being a professional architect, right?"

The redhead swallowed dryly before looked up at his sister, "S-Sora?" Sora just sighed exasperatedly and finally let her eyes meet Hyukjae's shocked, desperate ones, "I'm not with this at all. I don't give a damn about New York; I want to be a skilled designer her, I want to be a fashion designer here, in Seoul."

Their father sighed in frustration and stared up at Sora, who was stubbornly avoiding his gaze with her arms over her chest, "Sora, you're only twenty-three, you can pursue whatever job you want there, I'm sure many great companies would love to have a talented, young girl like you to join them." He tried to convince her but it was like he was talking to air.

Hyukjae simply watched the two argue. He didn't know what to think, and he didn't know what to do. It was true that his dream, ever since he was ten, was to become a popular architect someday, and it was also true that he had always wanted to go to New York, even if it was just a small visit.

However, his whole life was in Seoul. He couldn't just simply turn his back and walk away- It was impossible. He couldn't leave everything and everyone that meant so much to him and leave his home. He couldn't leave his friends, and mostly, he couldn't leave Donghae. The boy just grew way too special to him and had carved his own spot in Hyukjae's heart, they were just too in to go out now, and he didn't want to go, he wanted to stay there with Donghae. He wanted to be there for him, and he wanted to be the only one for the younger.

But then again…What about his longtime dream?

He knew he would never be recognized as an architect her in Seoul, but he also knew that he could not go away.

Hyukjae was growing helpless and all the more confused, which was starting to set him off. He broke out of his trance by Sora raising her voice once more, "Dad, this is just so unfair! How can you expect us to just move to another part of the world?! I have friends here, and I have places and people that mean the world to me that I cannot just simply leave- So why can't you understand that?"

The old man sighed one more time, he gave up, "I'm sorry, sweety, the decision has already been made and we're going to New York. But trust me, you won't regret it. Instead, you'll be thanking me later on." He spoke softly. Hyukjae felt tears well up in his eyes once more and he immediately stood up, not giving a single glance to anyone and silently rushing upstairs to his bedroom.

He practically threw himself on top of the fluffy comforter onto his stomach, buried his face into his arms and finally allowed the tears to fall. He started to cry silently, only sniffling a few times. His tears were of pure frustration and helplessness. He hated it. He felt his stomach churn as he imaged Donghae in his mind. What was he going to do?

Donghae would be devastated, and he knew it. He knew the younger would have many questions and would eventually blame himself, and convince himself that he was just not good enough. Hyukjae sat up and wiped his eyes with his sleeve before staring at the wall in front of him and it suddenly struck him-He didn't even have a choice, he was practically forced to leave Seoul.

Once more, he heard his father and sister yelling at the top of their lungs from downstairs, probably still in the living room, "I'm not going with you guys! I don't want to! I'm going to stay here and live on my own; I just don't want to leave!" He heard Sora scream, to which his father immediately responded, "Look, I know change is one of the hardest things to face, but you'll grow used to it, Sora! Besides, I would never let you or Hyukjae stay in here by your own- I know you're going to starve yourselves to death."

Hyukjae sighed and sniffled once more, but looked up when the door was abruptly opened, revealing his mother with a small smile. Hyukjae wasn't very used to this side of her, since she rarely ever is serious; she just always has that happy, bubbly, and playful side of her.

The redhead sat up straight and leaned his back against the pillows placed against the headboard and stared at his mother with sad eyes. She slowly made her way towards him and sat herself just next to his feet and tenderly his tear-stained cheek, "Is this about Donghae?" Hyukjae looked down and nodded slowly.

His mother let out a soft smile, "My baby is in love." She said almost inaudibly. Hyukjae frowned and couldn't help but be shocked at those words; however he couldn't say a word against them, for some reason. The redhead felt a single tear escape his blood-shot eye, "Mom, I don't want to leave; we're in too deep to just end all this, he means way too much to me…These four months, you wouldn't even imagine how close and attached we've grown. Call it unhealthy, but it's just how it is."

His mother laughed quietly at that, "Sweety, as much as I want you and Donghae to be together, you know how stubborn your dad is- He will do whatever he set his mind into, and you can't stop him. I'm going to try to persuade him to take back this opportunity, but I can't promise you anything."

Hyukjae his dry lips and didn't say a word, and at the lack of response, his mother continued, "Are you sure about this, Hyukjae? I mean, I know how much you've wanted this, so are you sure you are willing to let it slip away?" Hyukjae bit his lip, "I can't, even if I wanted to." His mother nodded slowly and kissed her son's forehead, "Good night sweetheart."

------------------------------------

Hyukjae's heart was racing as he walked into the campus, and almost immediately being greeted by a cheerful Donghae, who wrapped his arms tightly around his neck and lovingly kissed his plump lips. Hyukjae, however, didn't respond, which he felt almost immediately guilty for because of the confused look the younger gave him.

"Is there anything wrong, Hyukkie?" Donghae asked before slightly pulling back and widening his eyes, "Oh god, do I stink?" He started sniffing himself frantically, making the redhead chuckle lightly as he nuzzle his nose into the crook of Donghae's neck, inhaling the sweet scent of the other, and mumbled, "You smell just fine, Hae. I was just a little dazed."

Donghae grinned sweetly and held onto Hyukjae's hand, "Come on, Hyukkie, we have an English class together for the first lecture." And with that, both of them made their way to the lecture room. Hyukjae couldn't help but feel a bit calm at the sight of a happy Donghae, he barely even got some sleep last night due to anxiety and nervousness, and the younger probably noticed the dark circles, but just decided to ignore them.

Donghae gave him that sense of security and warmth. He felt that the younger could be compared to an angel, well, if you disqualified his occasional temper tantrums and bipolar attitude. Hyukjae smiled at the thought and pulled the younger closer to him, kissing his temple and nuzzling his nose in his hair. Hyukjae smiled softly and mumbled, "I like the smell of your shampoo." making Donghae giggle delightfully.

Donghae felt somewhat concerned as he stared at Hyukjae through the half of the lecture. The latter seemed so lost in his thoughts with a frown that never left his features. Donghae sighed and whispered softly, "You're going to get wrinkles, if you continue frowning like that."

Hyukjae was startled by the sudden sound before he softly cleared his throat as a habit, "O-Oh. Haha, I was just thinking about something, that's all." Donghae rolled his eyes but softened his gaze once he met Hyukjae's tired eyes, "Hyukkie, is everything okay? You seem to be so…off, today." Hyukjae tensed up at that before smiling nervously, "It's nothing, Hae, really." Donghae wasn't convinced; he just shook his head and gave Hyukjae a disapproving look and finally paying attention to the teacher in front. Hyukjae bit his lip and closed his eyes tiredly; resisting the urge to pull out his hair in frustration.

Hyukjae felt that same uncomfortable feeling in his stomach, making him groan silently and rest his head on the desk.

---------------------------------------

Throughout the day, Donghae realized that Hyukjae's tense behavior with everyone was getting him tense as well. He puffed up his cheeks in frustration and tugged onto Hyukjae's arm to get his attention, "Hyukjae, tell me what's wrong, will you?"

Hyukjae blinked, "Nothing's wrong."

"And you expect me to believe that?"

"Um, well, yeah?"

"Lee Hyukjae, tell me what has been bothering you or I'll ing-"

"Okay, okay!"

Hyukjae felt his heart race and he avoided the younger's gaze, making the latter's eyes soften as he held onto Hyukjae's hand and gave it a gentle squeeze of reassurance. The redhead sighed and finally looked up at Donghae with an unusual look of desperation on his face, "There's something you need to know, Donghae."

As soon as Hyukjae said that, Donghae felt his heart beat increase at a painful speed and his body tensing up impossibly. He's not breaking up with me, is he? The younger shook the thought off and just nodded hesitantly at Hyukjae, who only sighed once more.

"Hae…Um, Dad decided that we're going to l-leave to New York City to g-get a better living…" He whispered and he soon felt Donghae's already tense body tremble lightly. Donghae let out a small, nervous smile, "W-What? You mean like, you're going there for a while and then you're returning, r-right?" Hyukjae felt his heart sink at that and it took him all he's got to not scoop Donghae up in his arms and hug him tightly. Instead, he just shook his head reluctantly, "T-That would be unlikely, Hae."

Donghae stared at him with confusion written all over his face as he scooted a bit further from the redhead, "Hyukkie…A-Are you leaving me?" Tears that threatened to fall out at any moment now welled up in the corner of his eyes as he stared at Hyukjae expectantly.

Hyukjae bit his lip and he felt himself get paler and paler against the younger's desperate eyes, "I don't know what to do, Donghae…I don't want to l-leave you…" Donghae looked to the ground and stood up, "U-um, I have to go." The redhead stared at him and bit his lower lip, he knew there was no point in stopping the younger; he knew Donghae needed to be alone right now.

------------------------------------

Donghae slammed his bedroom door shut as soon as he got back home, threw his bag into a random corner of the room, and buried himself in the warmth of his blankets while sobbing violently. He didn't want Hyukjae to let go. More accurately- He didn't want Hyukjae to let him go. The younger's sobs only grew louder and louder until they started to get uncontrollable and he started to tremble all over.

Donghae's door was slammed open and he immediately knew it was Donghwa, though he didn't bother to acknowledge his presence, and instead, buried himself deeper in the blankets and let out small gasps from all the crying. He felt his brother come closer to him and abruptly, his blankets were being pulled off of him, exposing his vulnerable and pathetic state.

In all honesty, Donghae felt so ashamed under his brother's eyes for crying like that and drowning in his own misery. He felt Donghwa immediately scoop him up in his arms as he sat on the edge of the bed and cradled the younger in his arms, "What's wrong?" He whispered softly while the sobbing boy's hair.

The younger was immediately tempted by the warmth and he buried himself into his brother's chest, "H-He's…He's going to leave m-me." He choked out in between his frantic sobs and gasps. Donghwa wasn't stupid, he knew Donghae was talking about that all too familiar head of red, but he also knew that he shouldn't pressure Donghae to tell him what had happened, even though he was quite curious, but the younger just needed to be comforted at the moment.

He pushed Donghae's head deeper in his chest and rubbed the boy's back, "Hae?" Donghae coughed lightly before peeking up at Donghwa with blood-shot eyes. The older of the two sighed and the younger's tear-stained cheek, "Do you remember what you once told me?" He asked softly, placing a gentle kiss around his brother's forehead, then nose, and then cheek in a soothing way.

Donghae let out a small sob and tilted his head to the side, as if telling his brother to continue. Donghwa smiled lightly, "If you love something, let it go, if it comes back, then it's yours, and if it doesn't, then it never was." Donghae sniffled as fresh tears rolled down his cheeks, wetting his brother's already tear-stained shirt. He snuggled his face in the elder shoulder and Donghwa smiled sadly when he noticed Donghae's sobs were turning into hiccups.
