Eunhyuk POV

I've only been here a few days and I'm already losing it. I plopped down on my bed.

I felt tears form in my eyes. I quickly wiped them.

"Don't cry… Don't be weak…" I whispered to myself.

I heard a knock at the door. Probably Donghae,

"Hyukjae?" Yup, I was right. That's his voice.

I ignored it.

"Eunhyuk?"

I curled up on my bed, covering my head with my pillow.

"Hukkie, I'm coming in."

The door swung open. I stayed still, hoping he'd think I was sleeping.

I felt him lift the pillow.

"Hyukkie."

"Go away." I said, my voice weaker than usual. I looked at him. Instead of his bright cheery face, I saw seriousness. Worry.

"Come with me." Donghae said, grabbing my hand and pulling me up.

He dragged me down the stairs and out the front door.

Once we were out of the neighborhood, I looked at him.

"Where are we going?" I asked.

"You'll see." He said. I looked down and realized he was still holding my hand. I quickly took it back. I looked up at him. He was actually kind of good looking. And the moonlight made him even more attractive. I blushed a little. What's wrong with me? I'm a straight man!

I was so lost in thought I almost didn't notice Donghae stop in front of a small diner.

"A diner?"

"Yup!" Donghae said, pushing me inside.

"Hey Donghae!" A waiter said. He looked familiar…

"Hi Ryeowook!" Donghae replied and waved.

The waiter "Ryeowook" took us to a table.

I was looking through the menu when I noticed Donghae staring at me.

"What?" I asked.

"What happened?" He asked and leaned forward a little bit.

"What do you mean?"

"On your walk. You came home all sad and stuff. What happened?"

"Nothing." I said and looked down at the menu, pretending to be looking through it.

"Don't-" Donghae stopped himself, then said, "Alright."

He was about to tell me not to lie. But I pretended I didn't notice.

"Afterwards, I wanna take you somewhere."

I looked up, "Where?"

Donghae smiled.

"Ready to order?" Ryeowook asked.

"Yeah, I'll have what I usually have." Donghae said.

"And you?" Ryeowook turned to me.

"A burger and a coke. Thanks."

Ryeowook nodded then walked off.

"Who's he?" I asked and nodded towards Ryeowook.

"A friend of mine. He goes to our school." That's why he looked familiar.

"Come on, Hyukkie!" Donghae called. I sped up to catch up with him.

"Where are we going?" I asked.

"You'll see."

"Why can't you just tell me?"

"I want it to be a surprise." He answered.

"Another one?"

"You didn't like the diner?" He asked.

"No, it was good but-"

"Then trust me and my surprises." He said, not letting me finish.

I sighed.

He stopped when he arrived at an empty park, "We're here."

"Here?" An empty park. I was expecting something else but okay.

Donghae took a seat on the swing set. I sat down next to him.

"I used to come here when I was a kid." Donghae said, looking up at the stars in the sky.

I nodded, not knowing how to respond.

"My dad used to take me. Sometimes my older brother would come with us." He continued.

His father must've had a nice father. Complete opposite of mine…

"That sounds like it was fun." I said quietly.

"It was."

"Do you have any siblings?" Donghae asked.

"Yeah. I have an older sister." I said.

"What's she like?"

I looked at Donghae. Why does he want to know?

"She's pretty. And nice. And caring." I answered.

And why am I telling him?

"Does she know you're here?" Donghae asked.

"Not really. I wrote her a note telling her not to worry and that'd I'd be gone for a little while." I said. Why am I telling him any of this? I only tell Sungmin things like this.

"She's still probably really worried. You should call her."

"Maybe I will." I said with a shrug.

"Why did you leave anyway?" Donghae asked.

There. That question.

I got up.

"Hyukkie?" Donghae asked, probably watching me.

"It's nothing. I just needed some time to myself. That's all." I lied. I couldn't tell him… I don't know why I couldn't. It's just a habit now, I guess.

"Are you sure?" Donghae asked.

"Why do you even care?" I turned to face him.

"Because you're my friend." He answered. I stared at him. I'm his friend. I've only had two real friends in my life. Everyone else only liked me because I was "good looking". "Talented". They didn't like me for me… None of them knew anything about me…

"It's okay. You don't have to tell me what happened. Tell me when you're ready." Donghae smiled.

I nodded.
