The Start of A Thunderstorm

The Unpredictable Truth

Super Junior - All My Heart

This is my longest chapter, yet. Proud! Enjoy~

Since it’s been a couple of weeks already, Daehyun suggested that you both went on a first date. Even though you were ecstatic about that, you had to think it over. True, there were no signs of attacks for quite a while but that didn’t mean they suddenly gave up. The whole point of this mission was to protect B.A.P from any sorts of danger and that could include their own fathers. The fathers themselves could be against their own sons. The problem now was that no one knew whether they were in debt or not, they could also be selling illegal drugs.

Being only an agent, you didn’t know where the CIA got their sources. You didn’t know why they thought they were drug dealing, and you didn’t know why they thought they were in debt either. And since you were so confused and left out of the situation, you did some research about it.

Just because you were a CIA member, that didn’t mean that you had complete access to all the top-secret information. You were only ordered to do stuff by your boss. You didn’t know of the passwords, your fingerprint didn’t have access to the doors, and no one told you anything. They only told you what to do.

That’s why you hacked into the system. This morning, you hi-jacked a stranger’s laptop at a café and brought it home. You weren’t chief executive of the CIA but you weren’t stupid either. In your opinion, it was quite easy getting your way into the organization.

Your eyes widened as you read over the passage, cursing under your breath. Moments before, you weren’t sure if they were actually drug dealing or not. Now, you were damn sure.

Turns out that there was much more than what your boss told you. They were, in fact, dealing illegal drugs but they weren’t in debt. The fathers were actually high on the list of wanted criminals in the state of Korea and United States. So not only were they drug lords here but also in the U.S. Their sons were as of now the only ones that were able to get in contact with them, not that they wanted to.

In order for them to be completely safe from the government, they would need no one to have any sort of contact with them. They worked alone. But since B.A.P had all access to them, that wasn’t going to work. They were low enough to put their own sons in danger; the fathers were going after their own sons.

B.A.P didn’t know of their sick ways, but they weren’t too fond of their fathers. The young boys all had the same childhood story; their mothers died when the boys were young of age and their fathers paid no heed to them. As sad as it sounded, you were taught not to give sympathy.

In conclusion, you weren’t protecting B.A.P from stupid loan sharks; you were protecting them from their own fathers.

Your fist curled tightly as your knuckles turned white. If you didn’t hack into the CIA system, you would’ve thought you were still protecting B.A.P from loan sharks. This was something much bigger than loan sharks. Now that you fully understood the situation, you were more cautious than ever. Your boss hid a huge part of the mission from you. As much as you wanted to confront her, she couldn’t know that you hacked into it.

You shut the laptop off. There would be a couple of minutes before the CIA could track you. You took your gun that was taped under your desk and shot the laptop multiple times. The laptop booted down and steam emitted form inside. You put your gun in a safe place.

Shoving it the remains in the dumpster, you opened the door. “Hi Daehyunnie.” You smiled.

Daehyun grimly waved, and that’s when you noticed the rest of B.A.P was behind him. Himchan shoved past Daehyun, dragging you further inside in the process.

You laughed, *They probably found out.*

“Baby, you’re two-timing me with Daehyun?!” Himchan pretended to wail, making Yongguk smack him in the back of the head.

Zelo took a seat next to you and shook your arm, “Noona! Is it true?! You’re dating Daehyun hyung?!”

Daehyun growled, removing Zelo’s arm form your shoulder. “Shut up. It’s not that surprising.”

Your feelings got stronger as time passed. Whatever would happen in the future, you would hope not to get separated with him. You didn’t want him to get into trouble just because he was dating you; a trained assassin.

The boys all protested to your relationship (jokingly) but the ruckus eventually died down. Daehyun went out to buy food while everyone stayed, lazy fools. It was then when your boss contacted you, bringing bad news.

From: Boss

. ____, I need you to come to the base immediately.

NOW.

Your boss hardly cursed so you knew something was up. “Oh!” You pretended to be surprised, “My cousins are in town. I’m really sorry, I have to go!” You grabbed your jacket and stuck your feet inside your boots. “Bye!”

Himchan blinked but shrugged.

Moments later, Daehyun entered the apartment with a bag of food in his hands.

“Food’s here!” Zelo announced. He turned the faucet on and cleaned his hands.

Daehyun took out the food, “Hey, where’s ____?”

Youngjae looked up from his chicken wing, “Her cousins are here and she had to go.”

Daehyun’s eyebrows furrowed, “That’s not possible.”

“Why not?”

“Kim ____ has no relatives.”

----

When you arrived at the headquarters, everything was a mess. There was blood stained on the walls and most of the lights were out. Papers were on the floor and everyone was spread out. You picked up a random paper on the ground.

“____.”

You looked up, “Boss...”

Her hair was disheveled and her eyes were bloodshot. It looked like she didn’t get sleep for a several amount of days. It felt weird being in the office since a long time. The feeling was vague and there was something weird in the atmosphere.

“What happened?”

“I need a report on everything. Ignore my state of being right now, just tell me what’s happening.” She demanded.

After much time, you stopped staring at her. “Nothing happened. There were no attacks or signs from anyone. The last time something came up was about a month ago.”

She growled under her breath, “This won’t do.”

You took a step forwards and your eyebrows furrowed, “What do you mean this won’t do?”

“____. I’m assigning you a new partner.”

You were quick to object, “No way. You know exactly why I don’t-“

“I don’t care what you want! I’m in charge and this not a choice, this is an order.” She spoke firmly, “From now on, this is your new partner. She will replace Lee Si Yeon. It's either you accept this new partner or you stay in the base.”

You immediately rejected, "No way. I don't trust anyone else for this job."

"Then you have no choice but to go through with this."

Your hand curled into a tight fist. You closed your eyes, biting on your bottom lip to hold yourself back. Even after what happened, your boss is still giving you another partner. This time, you would avoid a close relationship with her. You didn’t need another person dying because of you. You definitely didn’t need another repeat of what happened four years ago.

You spun on your heel and bolted out the door. But you didn’t get far, “____!” Your boss yelled.

You came to an abrupt stop, as you heard what you never wanted to hear.

“Meet your new partner; Shin Min Ah.”

You didn’t want to turn around. You refused to, but you had no choice. To your surprise, she had a mask covering the lower half of her face. It was just like Daehyun’s. She had thick eyeliner and her hair was pure black. “I expect you to treat her well, she’s an agent in training.”

With a scowl, you looked away. You were already starting to hate her. Well, not her but her new position as your partner. You did just fine without a partner. If you were to have a partner, it should’ve been Si Yeon. A frown creased your face as your remembered the events four years ago. It should’ve been you that died, not your partner. It was your fault that she died. But you couldn’t weep over the past, you couldn’t change history.

You tried to consult your boss again, “Why are you giving me a new partner? I’m doing just fine without one. Why don’t you put her to use and assign her to someone who actually needs a partner.” You hissed.

Min Ah didn’t seem to be affected by your words, all she did was look at the ground with the same poker face she had on the whole time. Her expression didn’t change one bit.

“You’re progressing too slowly. I’m afraid you need a little wake up call, you’re not doing as well as you used to.” Your boss frowned.

Her words stung. It wasn’t your fault that no one from the other side made a move. It wasn’t your job to track them down. You were only supposed to protect B.A.P from danger. You weren’t the only that was hiding something. According to the information you found before, your boss was hiding quite a lot of missing information from you. You had evidence.

You were starting to think that your boss what losing her mind, physically and mentally. She looked like she had gotten jumped and never had she even thought of assigning a new colleague to you. Now, just because nothing has happened, she changed everything by transferring Shin Min Ah with you on this mission.

“Then I’m sorry I’m not the right person for this job.”

Before leaving, you restocked on your weaponry. You took all the best gadgets that were in stock and ditched the earpiece. You turned back to your boss, who was watching you, “I don’t need this anymore.” Collecting your new artillery, you left the headquarters without another word to anyone.

----

“Hey, you.” As much as you didn’t want to associate with her, it was for your own good. If you got reckless and ignored her, who knows what could happen to her. After all, she was only a rookie.

She looked at you, not speaking. She did something with her fingers; sign language. Good thing you knew how to read it.

“I don’t speak.” She signed.

“So why the mask?”

“I have a bad burn.” She informed.

You were starting to get frustrated with her. You had to keep looking at her in order to communicate to her. Not only that, but she didn’t even look capable enough to hold a gun. You didn’t really get along with rookies. It was a pain training them and having to constantly correct their mistakes.

You stuck your key in the doorknob and pushed open the door. “I’m back!” You hollered.

“Baby! You’re back- Oh? Who’s that?” Himchan blinked twice and looked at Min Ah.

“Cousin.” You simply answered, “Where are the others?”

“In the kitchen.”

Himchan winked, “Hi~ My name is Himchan, what’s yours?”

You grabbed his collar and dragged him to the kitchen, rolling your eyes in the process. Ignoring Min Ah, you sat down next to Daehyun. He draped his arm around your shoulder and kissed your cheek, “Hey, baby.”

You stiffened when you saw Min Ah glance at you. She may have been a beginner but she must know the rules. And you broke those rules. You shrugged his arm off, “Er.. Gimme a sec.”

“Hey cousin,” You emphasized, “Can you help me... go shoe shopping online?” You blurted without thinking. Min Ah looked at you and followed.

“Listen to me.” You whispered in a dangerous tone, “Yes, I’m dating that guy. I don’t care what you do just don’t tell boss about it. If you do, I swear to God I will make you regret it. I didn’t need a partner and you came. And I don’t need you to play tattletale and tell the boss everything I’m doing. As of right now, to what I understand, you’re following my directions. I’m not threatening you, I’m ordering you.” Your eyes turned into narrow slits.

She signed back; “Okay, but at least you can treat me as a human being. I didn’t want to be here but I was forced to,”

This was starting to turn into an argument, and neither of you had an intention of stopping. But you were interrupted before you could fight back.

Gunshots cracked the windows and smoke emitted inside. A grenade was thrown into the living room. With wide eyes, you grabbed Min Ah’s hand and ran into the living room. “Get down!” You barked.

“What’s happening?!” Jongup screamed.

You had no time to explain. “Follow me!”

Guys in black suits started coming in through the windows and you ran up the stairs with everyone following you. Guns were strapped to the intruders’ belt and they started withdrawing the weapons from the holster.

Not stopping in your tracks, you ripped your gun from under the table and jumped out the window. Fortunately, there were dirty mattresses lying below. “Jump!”

Min Ah jumped without hesitation and so did B.A.P. As much as they wanted to demand for answers, they wanted to live.

“Min Ah, take them somewhere safe. I’ll handle this.”

When you saw her nod, you turned back and began shooting. Most of your weapons were at the front door and you would have to sneak back to the front to get them back. It would be difficult. After all, it was one against a whole team.

With your accuracy, you were able to save some bullets. You shot each of them in the forehead, killing them immediately. There were patrols out front and you had to be very quiet. If you made a sound, they would turn around and aim their rifles and you.

There was a big distance between you and the bag full of weapons. You were surprised they didn’t find it, yet. You took a chance and just ran for it. Running with your long legs, you grabbed the strap of the bag and turned around the corner. You ducked as bullets were shot your way.

Quickly, you put the backpack on but not before taking out a handgun. There were no guards at one corner and your eyes brightened, *An escape!*

“She’s over there! Get her!”

You snapped out of it and bolted. There was a guy talking on the phone and his motorcycle was behind him. Lucky for you, the key was in and the engine was working. You shoved him off the bike and put on the helmet, “Sorry!”

“Hey!”

But he was knocked over as three motorcycles zoomed past him. They withdrew their gun and shot towards you. People on the streets screamed and they all ran for their lives. You dodged the bullets and made the sharpest turns as you could possibly do. Using your Bluetooth, you called Daehyun. “Hello?!”

“DON’T TELL ME WHERE YOU ARE! They can track us!” You warned, “Meet me at where you confessed to me, I’ll be there soon!”

There was a red light up ahead and there were two cars coming from opposite sides. Increasing your speed, you narrowly drove through them before they crashed together. You knew that the three enemies would eventually catch up to you if you didn’t do something. You found an alley with stairs that led to the upper level of the bridge. You twisted the handle of the motorcycle, grabbing people’s attention. When you drove up the stairs, everyone moved aside, trying not to get hit.

You drove on the highway, blending in with the other vehicles. You heard the sound of an engine come to life, which only meant that they were back on track. Too bad they went the other way. You a heavy gulp, you wiped the perspiration off your forehead.

When you arrived at Han River, you left the motorcycle in a bush, tossing the key into the water. You took the helmet off and looked for the group of 7. You found them sitting on a bench, rubbing their hands together. Their noses were red and they were only wearing a thin sweater. It was fortunate that you didn’t leave any traces at the house, you were sure of it.

You approached them, “Are you guys okay?”

You grimaced as you saw a deep gash on Zelo’s left cheek. “What happened?”

Daehyun growled as he pinned you to the brick wall. “What do you think happened?! That girl was trying to lead us but we couldn’t get away clean. We were lucky enough that we weren’t captured and only one of us got hurt. But that’s one too many. ____, what the hell is happening?! Is it the loan shark crap again?! But I doubt it because I’m pretty sure loan sharks aren’t that extreme to be able to do that. What the hell is happening?!”

You turned him around so that he was pinned towards the wall. “I’d be grateful if you stopped talking to me like that. As much as I want to tell you everything, I can’t. I can’t because then your life would be in danger, too. I can’t let that happen.” Your eyes were still fierce, “You have to give me time.”

Daehyun gritted his teeth, “As far as I can tell, we don’t have much time. And all I know is that you’re not the girl that I think you were and that girl isn’t your cousin. I would know because you told me you had no more relatives that were alive!”

His throat hurt from screaming but he was too frustrated to care. You noticed that you were creating a crowd and released Daehyun. “Lets get you somewhere safe first.”

Daehyun wanted to know exactly what happened; no more lies, just the truth. B.A.P also seemed pretty pissed about the events that were happening moments before.

They knew you were lying about something, they just didn’t know what. “We have to go before they find us.” You told them when they didn’t start following you. You needed their trust. You couldn’t have them shunning you when you needed to protect them.

You picked a random van, since that was the only car in the parking lot that would be able to fit all eight of you, and hijacked it. It took just a few moments until you were able to start the engine. “Well look at that. She even knows how to hijack a car. Just makes everything make sense.” Daehyun scowled.

It was clear enough that there would be some tension between the two of you. You gripped onto the wheel as you sped down the street, looking for the place in mind.

After many turns and bumps, you drove up a hill and parked your car that was camouflaged with the trees.

“Where are we?” Min Ah signed to you, ignoring the weird looks B.A.P gave her.

“You’ll see. It’s just further up the hill.” You nodded.

You the lights to the luxurious house, “I’ll get the first aid kit for Zelo.”

When you didn’t get a reply, you sighed and headed towards the bathroom.

Yongguk waved Min Ah over. “What’s going on?”

When she did some weird hand signal, Himchan blew up. “What the- You don’t speak?! Make yourself useful and just tell us where we are.”

“She doesn’t speak. That’s why she has the mask on and does sign language, if it wasn’t clear enough.” Your voice was icy; “I would appreciate it if you didn’t yell at my colleague. Even if she did speak, she doesn’t have the authority to give out our location unless I give her the right to. Neither one of us are allowed to inform you on everything that’s happening until further notice.”

Your cell phone rang, breaking out the stare between you and Daehyun. “Min Ah, watch them.”

Yongguk scoffed at the thought of having to be watched like patrol dogs. He ruffled his hair, “I told you it was a bad idea to trust her.”

“Boss?” You whispered, occasionally glancing to see if they were eavesdropping.

“____!” Her voice was tired and hoarse. “I drove by and saw the apartment on fire. What happened?!”

Even though things weren’t the best between the two of you, she couldn’t afford to lose her best agent. “We were attacked.”

She paused, “...I think it’s time to tell the boys what’s going on. They’re probably looking for answers, huh?”

“Yeah...” You couldn’t help but to start things again. “Now there’s action. Are you satisfied yet, or does someone have to die first? Carrying Min Ah around is a heavy burden. It doesn’t help that she has no experience on the field. I don’t know why you assigned me a partner, especially one that doesn’t talk, but it was a big mistake.”

You hung up on her, still pissed off about the whole Min Ah thing. They, as in the intruders, were probably trying to find out some evidence in the house and were probably trying to track down your current location. But the CIA avoided that, the CIA committee gave all the cell phones and it prevented people from tracking the phone; only CIA had the best.

You came back out from the backroom.

“Well? Can you tell us what happened or do you still need permission?”

You shrugged, “I’ve been given the okay.”

“Then start explaining and spill.”

I think I'm like a year and a half late for this story but it was definitely worth reading! The ending wasn't bad at all and I honestly liked the fact that the fluffy parts weren't overdone~ This story was really intriguing and enjoyable to read. Great job! ^^
