“Sang Hee, you haven’t called me back and I’m worried about you. I even called Sandeul to see if you’re ok but you’re not even talking to him? PLEASE call back.”

Sang Hee deleted the last voice mail from Ae Cha before throwing the phone across her bed. She looked around the room, her eyes noticing her uniform that had been tossed on her computer chair. ‘Guess I better wash it now for school tomorrow.’ She picked up a few other pieces of clothing to wash along with her uniform. As she picked up her blazer, she heard the sound of paper crunching from the pocket. ‘What’s this? Guess I left something in here.’ Her hand dig into the pocket and found an envelope. She gasped remembering her mom had given the envelope to her before she passed.

She dropped all the clothes, ripped open the letter, and started reading while trying not to cry again.

               ‘My dear Sang Hee,

               I’m so sorry that I’m leaving you like this. I should have taken better care of myself for you but you have to understand as well that it is my time to go. I only wish I could have prepared you better for this, but I couldn’t bring myself to do that to you. I hope you won’t be too mad at me for doing this. I love you so much, and I want you to know that I left everything to you of course. I know you will find a way to make it through my passing.  

               Sang Hee, I know the trouble you have with trusting others, but please don’t let that push away the ones that really do care for you. Like Ae Cha….and Sandeul. I know you don’t like for me to bring that up, but even I know he truly cares for you.

               Please take care of yourself and Gingy. I will always watch over you, don’t forget that. I love you.

Her eyes welled up with tears as she fell down to her knees. Gingy came up to her, whining. She picked him up and squeezed him into a hug. Gingy away some of her tears, she smiled and set him down. She whipped away her tears and patted Gingy head, “I messed up things pretty badly already.” Gingy shook his tail. “I just don’t know what to do anymore.”  She looked outside her window; it was cloudy but not yet raining. She looked back at the letter and back outside. So many things ran through her head and she just wanted to clear it all. “I’m going for a walk Gingy, I’ll be back.”

Sandeul kicked a rock that was in the way of walking to Sang Hee’s apartment. He still had not given up on getting her to open up to him again, but he was running out of ideas of what to do. Every day he was getting calls from Ae Cha to check on her but luck was not on his side and every day would end the same, no success.

Today he had a day off work so he wanted to see if he could catch her walking Gingy. He was almost to her apartment when she suddenly walked out.

Sang Hee had looked up to the sky to make sure it wouldn’t rain on her and started off in the same direction Sandeul was. She looked back down and right away her eyes met his.

They both stood there staring. Sang Hee started feeling nervous seeing him so suddenly. ‘Why is he here right now?’

“Sang-“ Sandeul started calling her, but she took off in the other direction. “Wait, Sang Hee!” he ran after her.

She ran towards the park, Sandeul was quickly gaining on her. She didn’t look back, but pushed her legs to run faster. Sandeul reached out for her arm as he got closer to her. Finally he got a hold of her. “Sang Hee wait!”

“Let go!” she shouted as she tried to pull herself away. He held on for a few more seconds, then with sorrow he let go. Shock came to her when he actually listened to her. Her eyes flared in anger the next second and she punched him in the chest, he flinched in pain. She began punching him repeatedly, “Why are you always here?! Why won’t you leave me alone?!”

Sang Hee continued to hit him, Sandeul took every hit without a word. Tears started falling down Sang Hee’s cheek as she gave him one last hit; after the last hit she hugged him. He quickly wrapped his arms around her. They both fell to their knees and Sang Hee squeezed Sandeul as she cried.

“I’m sorry.” Sandeul whispered to her.

She hugged him tighter, “No, I lied before….I do need you.” She said barely above a whisper.

Sandeul was a little shocked. She needed him? After chasing and annoying her this whole time she really didn’t hate him? He actually couldn’t help but smile slightly and hug her back just as tightly. “You really didn’t mean what you said earlier?”

She kept her head down, “No, I…don’t even know what I was thinking. I can’t even-“

“Its alright.” He kissed the top of her head. She looked up at him, but before she could say anything a rain drop fell on her nose. Sandeul whipped it away, “Lets get out of the rain.” He helped her up, took off the jacket he was wearing and wrapped it around her.

“I’m sorry for hitting you.”

“Oh, its fine, don’t worry.” Sang Hee turn away for a second, while he rubbed his chest where she hit him. “Yeah that’s gonna bruise tomorrow.” He whispered to himself.

She looked back. “What was that?”

 “Nothing.”

He kept an arm around her as they walked back to his place in the rain. Both came into the restaurant soaked, and Mrs. Lee left the table she was waiting to help Sang Hee. “Sang Hee darling are you alright? Its’ about time you brought her over!” she smacked Sandeul lightly on the cheek.

“Umma!”

“Come on Sang Hee, let’s get you out of those wet clothes.” Mrs. Lee dragged the two up to the apartment and forced Sang Hee into some old PJ’s of hers so she could dry Sang Hee’s clothes. “I have to go back to down but when I’m done with work we will talk, is that ok?”

Sang Hee nodded. “Noona?” little Min Ki came out from his room. His face brightened when Sang Hee smiled at him.

“Hi Min Ki-ah.” He immediately ran to hug her. “Noona you haven’t been here for a while, I miss you and I want to play with you.”

“Yah, not right now.” Sandeul pushed the little boy off of Sang Hee. He grabbed her hand and took her to his room. Min Ki started after them but Sandeul shut the door on him. Sang Hee looked around his room. This was her first time being in a boy’s room, she had always imagined that it would be a lot messier, but his room was pretty clean with only a few things thrown here and there.

“Sorry about my crazy family.” he sighed.

She laughed. “Well, at least you have a family…” her voice faded.

Sandeul frowned. “I’m sorry.”

She put on her best smile, “It’s alright…I just miss her so much.”

He walked up to her and wrapped his arms around her. “You know, there was something I never got to show you.”

“Huh?”

He sat her down on his bed. Her eyes followed him as he pulled over his keyboard towards her. He took out his notebook of songs and turned to the last page. Sang Hee suddenly recalled that one moment in the park.

                He took back his notebook, “ You didn’t look at the last page did you?”

               “No, why?”

               “Good. Its nothing.”

 He took a deep breath, then his fingers played a soft melody.

He blushed as he ended the song. “I was sure of my feelings for you for a while….so I wrote this song for you”

“Y-you wrote that for me?” He nodded. She looked down to hide her blushing face. “Those words…they mean a lot to me…”

He got up and sat next to her. “Then always know that I will always be here for you.”

She took a moment to think. “I will if you will accept an apology and…if you will give me another chance?”

Sandeul was flabbergasted. “W-what?”

“I’ve been so hard on you, I should have seen that all you were trying to do was protect me…but I was a fool and my pride wouldn’t let me see it sooner.”

He smiled brightly, “Well I might have to think about it…” Sang Hee glared. “I’m just kidding, of course I wouldn’t turn you down for a moment.”

The door burst opened, “Hyung, it’s my turn to play with noona!” his tiny hand grabbed a few of Sang Hee’s fingers. Min Ki stuck his tongue out at Sandeul and pulled Sang Hee with him to his room. She turned back and smiled at Sandeul. “I’ll be back” she mouthed to him.

He scoffed, “That little punk.” then he fell back on his bed.

Buwhaha now we all know what was on the that last page~ I know it might be a little confusing bring things back from a little too far back but I’m trying to tie it all in as close as I can.
