The Match

My Dorky Boyfriend

The game started. Jaehwa and Hyemi were totally focusing on the match; both of them became so serious as they knew how important is this game to them. Winning it means they’ll break a record, losing it means they’re going to be more disheartened to beat the other team.

They played even better than before and Jaehwa smiled seeing how they really improved to this level. Most of the time, the ball was conquered by the other party. Jaehwa screamed, shouting their names as loud as she could.

“GOAL!” She heard the other team’s supporters were screaming of joy – they scored a goal just after 15 minutes of the match. Not wanting the team to feel down, she kept screaming “It's okay! Kwaenchanha!” Hyemi joined her afterwards, and the other supporters joined them as well. They saw the boys nodded slightly, acknowledging their cheer.

Junmyeon had the ball and was about to score a goal. He had his eyes fixed on the goal post, and confidently kicked the ball. Hyemi, who’s anticipating at least a goal from him, let out a sigh afterward as the ball went over the goal post. Junmyeon looked like he’s frustrated, but continued to focus on the game.

40 minutes later, the other team scored another goal. Jaehwa kept cheering for the boys – she wanted them to know that she’s always there to cheer for them. It was a tight fight for the first half as Junmyeon and Moongyu missed several chances to score.

The game stopped after 45 minutes, waiting for the second half to start. Jaehwa and Hyemi acted like ninjas as they silently moved from their seats and went into the boys’ changing room. They were soaking wet in sweat; all looked tired and lost their confidence to win.

Hyemi patted Junmyeon, and said she’s proud seeing his play. She’s proud that at least Junmyeon tried to score for the team, though he missed all of his attempts, but at least he tried. Moongyu whined at Jaehwa that he wished Jongin was there to play for the team as well.

“Do you only think you can win only when Jongin is here? You’re born to be a winner, so be like one!” She told Moongyu, hoping that he’s motivated with her words. She then turned to Luhan, who’s the best player after Jongin. His face turned red, maybe he’s tired and frustrated as they hadn’t score a single goal yet.

“I believe in you, oppa. I know you can do it,” Jaehwa said to Luhan, and grabbed his hands before squeezing it. “You promised to bring back a trophy for me, so I hope you will help the team to win, Luhan ge,” she smiled widely. She knew that her bright personality actually helped the rest to feel better as well. Luhan smiled at how she called him Luhan ge instead of gege. Addressing him ge means she’s really close to him, and he loved it.

“I will continue to pray for you guys! Play well! Win for Jongin, win for school, win for me!” Jaehwa shouted happily, “Don’t frown! Smile and be confident! Be confident like me!” Jaehwa joked, and excused herself as the second half’s going to start soon. She needed to let them rest as well.

When the second half started, Jaehwa was surprised to see the difference brought by the boys. They played even better, and each one of them looked so confident. “They must be taking your words seriously,” Hyemi chuckled, still couldn’t believe how each one of them changed abruptly. Jaehwa smiled widely, feeling happy that she motivated the boys to that extend.

Jaehwa kept screaming and cheering for the boys who’re actively running around the field, tackling the ball from the other team. She screamed even louder when Moongyu tackled the ball suddenly, and passed to Minseok.

Minseok brought the ball carefully before he passed to the team’s striker, Luhan. Luhan skilfully brought the ball passed the other team’s player, and he’s now in front of the goal post. Everyone felt nervous, including Jaehwa. Somehow, she felt that he could score this time. She prayed hard, and got even nervous when Luhan was about to kick the ball.

Everyone screamed happily. Jaehwa was jumping up and down, while Hyemi smiled widely and texted Jongin, telling that Luhan successfully scored a goal. Though it’s their first goal, they couldn’t help but to feel happy as well. With Luhan’s goal, each one of them was getting even more confident.

15 minutes passed, but none of the team scored a goal. The fight became tighter, and the atmosphere getting even tenser as Junmyeon and Luhan tried to score even more than before. Minseok and Moongyu helped them by tackling the ball skilfully before passing it to either Luhan or Junmyeon.

Junmyeon caught that the other team’s goalkeeper was totally confused and couldn’t get a grasp of the game, so he decided to trick him with Luhan’s help. Luhan brought the ball, and lifted his foot as if he’s going to kick it. The goalkeeper was totally focusing on the left side, before Junmyeon came and kicked the ball to the right.

“GOAL!” The team’s supporters screamed in unison. Hyemi jumped in euphoria. “That’s my boyfriend!” She screamed around shamelessly, before being stopped by Jaehwa. “Unnie, that is embarrassing,” she giggled, as she was surprised to see Hyemi being so excited like that. “Mian, I couldn’t help but to feel overjoyed!” Hyemi said, and quickly turned her head after the rest screamed “GOAL!” once again.

“Who scored?” Hyemi asked, as she missed the goal. Jaehwa was clueless as well, but one of the supporters told it’s Luhan who scored again.

“Assa! Unnie, our boys are leading now! Our boys!” Jaehwa screamed again, and cheered for them afterwards. She’s happy that everyone was totally keeping their heads in the game. They played seriously, and totally made the other team’s supporters’ jaws hanging widely. They weren’t expecting for this.

“UNNIE! JUNMYEON OPPA SCORED AGAIN!” Jaehwa screamed again. “UNNIE! OUR BOYS ARE GOING TO WIN! UNNIE!!!” She’s feeling so happy, she couldn’t think of anything else. She continued to cheer for them, jumping excitedly as she knew they’re the winners this time.

The game ended, and they got the trophy just like what Luhan promised to Jaehwa.

“CONGRATULATIONS OPPA! CONGRATULATIONS EVERYONE! SEE, I TOLD YOU THAT YOU GUYS ARE WINNERS! CONGRATULATIONS!” Jaehwa screamed and clapped like a seal. Hyemi who arrived later was shocked as Junmyeon quickly hugged her, asking if she’s proud to have a boyfriend like him. He was about to kiss Hyemi but was stopped as Hyemi pushed him away to congratulate the rest.

“You better run, Hyemi. Junmyeon’s going to eat you later,” Minseok whispered to Hyemi and somehow it made her laughing so hard. “Oppa, the word ‘eat’ sounds so hyperbolic to me! He’s not that ert,” Hyemi laughed again, but still defended her boy.

Luhan was waiting for Jaehwa to congratulate him so he sat at the bench, waiting for her to come.

“My beloved gege! Luhan ge! Our striker Luhan ge! You scored 2 goals! Oppa daebak!” Jaehwa said cheerfully, while showing two thumbs-up to him. He giggled, and dragged Jaehwa into a hug without realizing it. “It happened because of you, Jaehwa,” he whispered. “Thank you so much for coming. Thank you,” he whispered again, and broke the hug so that no one will felt suspicious about them.

“JONGIN! YOU CAME!” Moongyu screamed and ran to Jongin. He, who came together with Sehun, patted his best friend and congratulated his team.

“You guys play even better without me! Seems like I’m not the ace anymore,” he giggled. “I heard that Luhan hyung and Junmyeon hyung played the best today? Where are they? This ace is feeling envy right now,” he joked, before he hugged the hyungs.

Sehun congratulated the rest as well, and ended up hugging Jaehwa.

“I’m curious… Why do you love to hug me nowadays?” Jaehwa asked when she’s letting go of the hug. Sehun lifted his shoulders, as he had no idea why he hugged her more than before. Maybe he felt insecure to let Jaehwa to be with Luhan more.

“Because we win today, it’d be the best if our ace treats us for a nice dinner!” Junmyeon screamed, and earned hot response from the rest. “Yah hyung! I don’t want to waste my money to you!” Jongin joked, but brought them to a restaurant for a congratulatory party. Sehun and Jaehwa didn’t join them as Jaehwa promised her mother to go back early tonight.

“Congratulations once again! My oppas are daebak like me!” Jaehwa screamed before she waved good bye.

“How about me? Am I daebak like you?” Sehun asked Jaehwa while he’s walking her back home.

“You?” She paused, “You’re really really really super really daebak than me,” She answered, and gave a peck on Sehun’s cheek. She blushed a bit, but held Sehun’s hand tighter.

“Even if we didn’t spend more time together like before, I will always love you,” Jaehwa said seriously instead of being cheerful like always. “I hope you will love me forever too,” She said, and looked down as she’s blushing so much.

He smiled widely, and brought her closer to him. “Of course, you’re the love of my life, Im Jaehwa” Sehun said before hopping happily with Jaehwa.
