Epilogue
Chips, Lays, and Zhang YixingEpilogue
You keep your promise to look up EXO and Lay and you rediscover a world of crazy fans and even crazier men. You set up an update alarm where you would get all the official news pertaining to Lay or Zhang Yixing, just to stay updated on his work. Scrolling through a few blogs, you come across a post pertaining Yixing’s weibo account. You saw a screenshot of his profile where it showed his profile picture as a small glowing star and his status update being: isnt it pretty? ^^
Hana and Hyunwoo had a great honeymoon touring Europe and 2 months later, they announced Hana’s pregnancy. You laughed a bit too much when she told you, a bit sheepishly, that she was already 2 months pregnant; she told you to shut up and be mature. You laughed a bit more at that. They named her Katy; Hana lovingly told you that they named her, Katy, after you, but Hyunwoo later confirmed that, that was a lie and Hana just came across the name while reading a magazine.
You and Yixing did keep in contact, although it was a bit dysfunctional. You got used to hearing your cellphone beep with messages in the middle of the night and waking up to 15 messages about how Yixing’s day went. Leading the boring life you had, you didn’t have much to say other than to respond to his day. You two would Skype often; Yixing would try to show you the stars on the ceiling, whenever he was in the room or the dorms, and you pretended to see them even if you really couldn’t. Sometimes he would let you listen to the new songs he was composing and you showed him new designs you were working on; you both would criticize and improve each other’s work. You would have times where you would talk to each other every single day for hours, talking to each other about the randomest things, sometimes with you or him pulling all-nighters. Or, sometimes you wouldn’t talk for weeks at a time; EXO came out with an album and EXO M worked full time in China, leaving Yixing no downtime other than to gain precious sleep. Timezones were also problematic, but you two managed, and your friendship flourished.
One day, a year and a half after your trip to Korea you came home from work. It was pretty late at night and you trudged into your house, grabbing your mail and heating up left overs to eat. You sifted through bills and letters, throwing away most of them. On the bottom of the small stack of mail was a long pink business envelope; it was from some address in Korea. You got excited as you opened the envelope and looked at the contents.
----------You pull out two tickets and you read the details on them. They’re tickets to the biennial SMTOWN Concert in LA. You sit at your table, flabbergasted: you were going to see Yixing. From concert seats, but, you were going to see Yixing. You hold the two tickets in one hand and cup your face in disbelief with the other. You gently set aside the tickets on the table and look into the envelope for anything else. Inside there are two lanyards with passes on them, for backstage access, you realize excitedly. You place the lanyards on the tickets and see something lying on the bottom, so you shake the envelope above your table for it to drop.
Out floats out a large glow-in-the-dark star, your eyes crinkle as you pick up the star, seeing that the sticker paper was still attached and hastily cut out. You smile knowingly and begin to toss the star onto the pile of lanyards and tickets but some small inscriptions catch your eye. You take a closer look and see that something was written on the back of the star:
See you soon!! Love, Chips, Lay, and Zhang Yixing.
The End.
