Falling in-love...after getting divorced?!"Christmas party?" I read out loud.
"We always have Christmas Parties after New Year since that's the only free time we get that's closest to Christmas," Lee-seonsaeng explained.
I nodded slowly as I read the notice.
"It says we can bring a date over," I said.
"Yup. It's the only time my husband and I can date freely too," Lee-seonsaeng laughed.
I did too.
I remembered when my husband and I used to go to events like these together all the time.
I never really used to worry about who to bring.
But now...
It's like every second of the day, I'm reminded that I'm alone now.
That we're...divorced.
"Lee-seonsaeng, Seo-seonsaeng,"
Kim-seonsaeng called behind us.
She approached us with a somewhat mischievous smile.
"Did you get the notice?" she asked.
"Yeah, I just read it," I replied.
"I'm gonna go ask Cho-seonsaeng to go with me," she gushed.
"You'll what?!"
Crap.
I should've kept my mouth shut.
I sounded every bit like the jealous girlfriend.
Lee-seonsaeng and Kim-seonsaeng gave me a look.
I bit my bottom lip.
"It's just that, I never knew you were interested in him," I stammered nervously.
"Well, he's good-looking and available, right?" Kim-seonsaeng winked.
Lee-seonsaeng laughed so I felt like I had to force a laugh too.
"I mean that as a joke.
Besides, all the single ladies here have given up on Cho-seonsaeng already.
He's good-looking and he knows it, so he's not afraid to flaunt it.
Do you know that for the last three work Christmas parties he attended or any other work-related event, he'd always have a different girl in his arm?
He's such a player," Kim-seonsaeng shook her head as she laughed.
I laughed too, but for a different reason.
"Who? Cho-seonsaeng?" I laughed at her silly remark.
"He's the most faithful guy I know.
All through middle school, highschool and university, he's stuck with only one girl, so I find that hard to believe," I said.
I sipped my coffee.
A player?
What a joke...
I looked up to find Lee-seonsaeng and Kim-seonsaeng looking at me, interested.
Again, I shouldn't have said anything!
"Really?
What was he like?
And the girl he went out with.
What happened to her?" Lee-seonsaeng asked, looking completely curious.
I opened my mouth, but no words came out.
Kim-seonsaeng looked eager too.
"Uhm, I wouldn't really know.
We didn't really hang out much back then.
We kind of just knew each other, but not reallly 'know' each other," I muttered.
What was I supposed to say?!
How could I voluntarily tell them the story of our relationship?
"Oh come on, seonsaengnim.
I bet you know something," Kim-seonsaeng urged.
"You two look like you were pretty close."
"We weren't..."
GAAAH.
It looked like they weren't going to willingly let me go without telling them anything.
I guess I have no choice.
I sighed helplessly.
"Well, from what I heard, Kyuhyu----"
I bit my tongue.
"Cho-seonsaeng used to go out with this girl.
Apparently, they were bestfriends until he decided to ask her out,"
I felt soooooo awkward talking in third person.
Kim-seonsaeng and Lee-seonsaeng looked completely hooked.
"And then?" they asked.
"Then...they broke up." I swallowed.
For some reason, I still couldn't get used to saying 'broke up'.
"Why? What happened?" They asked.
I chewed on my bottom lip.
"I don't know either...whose fault it was.
Was it the girl's fault for not being good enough?
Or was it Cho-seonsaeng's fault for not being there for her?"
I laughed softly.
"No, it's definitely the girl's fault.
It was her fault for losing the most important thing."
I stopped myself when I realised I was spilling everything out.
What am I doing?
Is it really impossible to keep this mouth of mine shut for long?
I sighed heavily.
I looked up with a half-hearted smile.
"That's all I know," I said.
I don't know why, but the expressions on their faces turned...sympathetic.
They didn't ask anymore.
"I don't think it's her fault.
After all, it takes two to tango," Lee-seonsaeng smiled.
They both looked somewhat sorry.
I laughed forcedly.
"Why do you two look so sorry?
It's just what I heard," I said.
"Seo-seonsaeng,"
I turned around.
"Yoon-seonsaeng," I greeted back.
Kim-seonsaeng nudged me.
"We'll get going," Lee-seonsaeng winked as she dragged Kim-seonsaeng away.
I waved at them.
Yoon-seonsaeng walked towards me with a smile.
Other than Kyuhyun, Yoon Doojoon-seonsaengnim was the centre of all the gossip.
He was the complete opposite of Kyuhyun's personality.
He was serious and always analyzed things before making up his mind.
He was composed and charismatic.
I bowed out of respect.
"Uhh, I was just wondering if you had someone to take you to the Christmas party," he said.
I opened my mouth, but I didn't say anything.
"To put it bluntly, I'm asking you on a date."
I just stayed still.
Guys asked me out before, but since I had Kyuhyun, I would always decline.
Had.
Past tense.
Things are different now.
Maybe accepting Yoon-seonsaeng...is the first step to forgetting Cho Kyuhyun.
I looked up with a half-hearted smile.
"Sure. Why not?" I answered.
