"Oppa~"

I turned around to face her.

Sohee was wearing a purple, figure-hugging, sweetheart-cut dress.

She held onto her white clutch and flashed me a sweet smile.

I tried to put a smile on too, but I was afraid it came out as the expression of someone who's constipated, because that's how I was feeling back then.

I was just about to dump the perfect girl for a reason she probably wouldn't understand.

She was young, after all.

She was the perfect girl, but not my perfect girl.

As long as I had that reason, I felt it would be enough to justify what I was about to do.

I held the passenger seat door for her.

"Where do you wanna go?" I asked.

She stepped down the porch, approaching me.

"Omo, sesange*~

Aren't you spoiling me a little bit too much, Oppa?" she asked, her eyes narrowing cheekily.

I laughed.

"No, not really," I replied, telling the truth.

She gave me an amused smile before getting in.

I closed the door for her.

I breathed in the cold air and smiled as I watched all the city lights down below us.

"It's really the perfect time to be up here.

Don't you think so, Oppa?" Sohee asked.

I shifted my gaze and gave her a smile.

I nodded.

I turned to face the city view again.

Namsan Tower at night was breathtakingly beautiful.

I slightly turned my head to take a quick look at the innocent, pretty, and kind-hearted girl right next to me.

Sohee doesn't deserve this.

She doesn't deserve me.

She was too good of a person to be dumped at a place like this.

In the future, when we've both gone our separate ways, I don't want her to come up to one of the most beautiful peaks known to man-kind and have spite and hatred in her heart because of me.

This is something I don't want to do.

But it's also something I have to do.

I have to do this because I want my suffering to end.

I laughed under my breath.

"Oppa, what's wrong?" Sohee asked.

"Hm?" I looked up.

"Oh, it's nothing.

I'm such a selfish jerk," I muttered under my breath.

Sohee frowned.

"That's not true.

You are the most loyal, generous, selfless man I know," she smiled.

I laughed half-heartedly as I pinched her cheek.

"You sure know how to flatter someone, don't you?" I teased.

She shook her head no.

"You deserve much more than me," I said.

And so does Seohyun.

"Come on, we'll go some place else," I told her, turning around to leave.

"Oppa" Sohee caught my arm, tugging it back gently.

I turned around.

She gave me a sad smile.

"You don't think I know what you've been trying to say this entire date, do you?" she asked.

My jaw clenched.

She forced a smile.

"Oppa, I understand.

I know this is something you have to do," she said firmly.

I exhaled.

She looked down on the ground.

"Although, I can't really say I'll be fine now, and I can't really tell you that I'll easily get over it, but I'll try.

I'll try my hardest for you and Seohyun-ssi," she said, determined.

I froze.

"How did you...?"

I trailed off again.

"I saw the look in that eonni's face when I asked her about you.

That eonni...

That eonni still loves you, oppa," she swallowed hard.

I breathed out.

"From the very start, you look liked a person whose heart was already occupied by someone else.

I thought it might've just been me, but when you brought me to your Christmas Party, it wasn't hard to figure out.

The way you immediately looked  at Seohyun-ssi when we entered the restaurant was a dead giveaway."

Sohee looked up at me with a half-hearted smile.

"I wished for oppa to look at me the way oppa looks at her.

But I can tell that's not ever gonna happen."

She immediately turned around and wiped her face.

I guessed...she didn't want to be seen crying.

I put a hand over her shoulder.

"I'm sorry.

This is all my fault.

I'm not able to let go because I know to myself that I haven't tried my best to prevent everything from happening.

The 'what ifs' in my mind are driving me crazy.

What if I tried harder?

What if I didn't give in to what my mother wanted?

What if I'd been there for her?

It's all really frustrating to me," I said.

Sohee turned around, and despite the tears on her face, she gave me a smile.

"Oppa, stop the excuses.

Just say it already," she laughed softly.

"The real reason you let her go is because you're still madly in love with her," she gulped, but tried hard in keeping the cheeky tone in her voice on.

I messed her hair.

"If I say no to that, I'd be the liar of liars," I replied.
