Sunggyu grabbed the man’s hand and helped him get in the apartment. The last two weeks had been a complete hell to Sunggyu and he was pretty sure the other one felt exactly the same, but maybe not so intensely. He didn’t know how managed to be  in the hospital for such a long period of time without breaking down or even kill the doctor every time he saw him taking care of Woohyun. Their friends were trying their best to make Sunggyu feel a little happier and making their best to make Woohyun remember what happened until his surgery, but it was like they were talking to a wall. He couldn’t remember a thing. He became friends with Hoya really easily, but that was something they already knew it was going to happen. But it hurt. It hurt Sunggyu so much when he saw Woohyun smile so happily when he was with Hoya and Dongwoo.  When it was just the two of them, it would be so awkward that Sunggyu just felt like dying.

Woohyun was doing his best to remember everything. He would always be smiling to the polder man and ask him to tell everything. Sunggyu was trying his best to remain strong and tell the young man what he wanted to know but sometimes it would come out as a cold comment or even harsh, and Woohyun would just fake a smile and would apologize for something he didn’t do. Sunggyu was so frustrated that he could even scream.  The nurses, more than once told him he had to be more delicate with Woohyun, that the younger was feeling lost and had no idea where he was. One of the nurses even went towards Sunggyu and offered him to take care of Woohyun while he was in the hospital but Sunggyu refused.

He didn’t want some stranger to touch or even look to Woohyun. He didn’t want strangers to become too friendly with Woohyun. Not if he could avoid it. He stood all the time with the younger man but every time he asked for the older man to tell him more about their past, Sunggyu felt like a piece of him had died. He was strong to a certain point. He would just show a cold face, but when Woohyun felt asleep, he would break down and cry without stopping. Dongwoo told him he had to tell the younger man what he was really feeling, that maybe his confession would help Woohyun remember, but both of them knew that confessing wasn’t Sunggyu’s style, on the contrary. He just couldn’t show so many feelings. He was about to confess that day. When he was desperate and didn’t know what to do. “…because we’re friends…” That wasn’t what he wanted to say and it was more than clear, and he could swear the younger man looked a little disappointed, but it was too late to go back with his words. No need to say that he felt like a complete idiot.

When Woohyun was discharged from the hospital, Dongwoo offered to take the younger man into his house, but Sunggyu just said he would take care of him, like it was originally planned. His friends just smiled at those words and said that if he ever needed help, all they had to do was ask and they would be in his door step without asking what happened. Sunggyu realized right there that he had wonderful friends. He just wasn’t sure if he deserved them. “Careful…” Sunggyu whispered as he helped Woohyun walk inside the house. The younger was still a little weak and couldn’t walk very well so that was the reason why Sunggyu was holding his hands and help in give small steps.

He closed the door behind him and grabbed Woohyun’s bag. The younger man started looking around the living room and his curious eyes couldn’t help but wonder millions of things at the same time. “…you have a very clean house.”  Woohyun whispered and Sunggyu smiled to him. It was a very small smile but it showed some emotion, which was a little knew to the younger because he got a little too used to Sunggyu’s poker face. “…when you came here for the first time you practically ruined it.” Hearing this, the younger man felt his face burn and he couldn’t help but feel beyond embarrassed. He looked down to his hands and tried his best to remain calm. For some reason, when Sunggyu talked about what happened to them before the surgery, he would feel his heart beat increase. But maybe it was normal. He was once in love with Sunggyu wasn’t he? Maybe those feelings were coming back?

Woohyun looked to the mirror next to him and couldn’t help but give a sad look. “What happened?” The older asked and Woohyun continued looking to his reflection and tried to force a smile, but instead he took a long breath. It wasn’t easy to be smiling all the time that was for sure. “…I don’t recognize this man…” He said while pointing to himself. “He looks so sick, so sad…” Sunggyu started biting his lower lip.

He grabbed Woohyun’s hand and pulled him away from the mirror. He knew he should say comforting words, but instead he just walked towards the living room and left Woohyun with a very unhappy look in his face. “Have a sit.” Sunggyu said and slowly, Woohyun seat on the comfortable black couch. As he did, he couldn’t help but feel like he had done that over and over again. It made him feel a little happy. It sounded a little stupid, but it did and he couldn’t help but smile a little. “Why are you smiling?” Sunggyu asked with a raised brow and Woohyun kept on smiling towards him. “Sitting here…feels familiar.”

Hearing this, the older man couldn’t help but feel his heart skip a beat. He tried not to show it, he really did. “It feels warm you know…like I belong here.” Sunggyu tried his best to ignore what he was feeling. He gave another small smile and then he decided he needed to go away from the living room just for a while, but before he could, he felt something grab his hand. He looked down and he saw Woohyun stare at him, his eyes almost sparkling.

“Hyung….do….would you love me…if I looked like this forever? Would you love me even if I can’t remember a single thing that happened before?” Sunggyu raised a brow not fully understanding what the younger man meant. “I see the way you look at me… you feel sorry for me don’t you? You probably think I’m ruining your life a-“Sunggyu lost it. Before the younger man could even think about what he wanted to say next, the older man seat next to him and wrapped his arms around his weak frame. Woohyun was a little shocked with this but made no signs of moving. “You aren’t ruining my life. Only making it better!” Sunggyu didn’t realized what he was saying anymore but he really didn’t care.

“I….I….” Sunggyu pulled away for a little while and then looked straight into the younger man’s eyes. Both were staring like they were waiting for something, especially Woohyun.  “I would love you no matter how you looked like…I’ll love you no matter what you look like…” Woohyun could feel his face burn and his mouth go dry. Sunggyu had no idea why he was talking like this, he really didn’t but now there was no turning back. He finally said it. He finally said what was inside his heart and he couldn’t feel more at ease. He felt like his heart became lighter and he just couldn’t help but think this was how it was suppose to be.  “And you don’t need to remember everything right now…you’ll…hopefully.” Woohyun smiled and he felt the older grab his hands very gently. Both stood in complete silence and didn’t say a word for a while. They were allowing themselves to realize all of this was real and not a stupid fantasy. Sunggyu brought himself a little closer to Woohyun and touched his face. It was a gentle touch, like he was afraid the younger would break any moment. “Are we going to make this work? Even if I don’t ever remember?” Woohyun asked a little afraid. He was scared that he would never remember how he first saw Sunggyu or when was the first time he actually talked to him. Sunggyu didn’t smile. He didn’t have to smile to make Woohyun feel happy. He didn’t had to change. Instead he kissed the younger man’s forehead and looked straight into his eyes. “….we are…."
