After what happened, I quickly wore the clothes I prepared yesterday. It consisted of a simple warm grey sweater, black jeans and grey boots, paired with a white beanie and a scarf of the same color. 

Taking a hold of my backpack I dashed out of the apartment barely bidding Dara goodbye.

I kept on running in the street, the cold air wildly tossing my hair, stands flying on my face. The icy touch should have hurt, but it made me feel good. It numbed me from the little shock from earlier.

Well, not so little I guess.

How and where it was hidden clearly shows it was something meant to be hidden. 

The mystery now is what is it doing in Dara’s apartment ? 

Did she keep it to protect herself in case of an emergency ? Or is there another reason ?

The sound of cracking snow behind me snapped me out of my thoughts. Turning around I found  Mr Choi’s secretary waving at me.

« Mrs Shin !!!! «  She gave me a warm smile, her eyes turning into crescent moons « Congrats for you’re internship « 

« Thank you « I whispered, overwhelmed by her brightness.

How can anyone be so active at 7 am ?

We chatted along the way, talking about ourselves, work and all. She was very nice and hyper, talking and walking maybe too fast and I almost had a hard time catching up. Still, she was breath of fresh air compared to the dull snobs there. 

« So … I guess I need to explain to you a few things about Tora’s Firm and its workers « She kept her eye smile but her voice became serious. 

Nodding at her I tried to register everything she said next.

« As you may know it’s the best law firm in Korea, because of how excellent our services are. To maintain our reputation we only hire the best elements out there. Mrs Shin you must be talented for getting accepted « 

I gave her an awkward chuckle  » Not really « 

She made a dismissive hand gesture

« Anyways … You must have met Lulia, the receptionist. Let me tell you, that girl is annoying . She tried many times seducing Mr Choi and almost compromised some important meetings but well … Failed miserably «  

She laughed while shaking her head «  Quite epic « 

I could only picture that Lulia girl, with her horrific makeup and chirpy voice of hers and shuddered. 

« There are many women like her there so get used to it okay ? « 

I pouted, but never less nodded.

Such good news ( sic ).

« In general,people there are pretty uninterested and boring to be honest. Still there are some kind of rules you should know about . «  Her tone became almost bossy as she looked straight ahead 

«  One, never talk about any cases outside of work. Privacy policy you see ? 

Two, you need to be as fast and precise as possible in you’re work, our policy being that excellence is not an option 

Three, the 40th floor is forbidden. No one can go there beside Mr Choi and Mr Han « 

My ears perked at that information

« Forbidden ? Why ? What’s in there ? « 

She glanced at me from the side, before clearing

« I don’t know myself … It just that way okay ? Anyways … Oh we are already here « 

I didn’t even notice we reached the building.

We kept on chatting, getting in the elevator. I could feel people stares on me, which made me squirm. I turned to Minhee.

« Hey, is something wrong with me ? Why are they looking at me like that ? « 

She gave me a sorry look, before whispering

« Well, I guess I didn’t tell you about the dress code here. It’s required to always dress formal, and well … You’re not really dressed that way « 

I glanced down at myself. What was wrong with my outfit ? I mean sure, it was not very formal but there is no need to look at me as if I was a giant monkey.

Following Minhee, she showed me to my assigned desk. I

t was a small cubicle, with a computer, and a small chair. It was maybe impossible to move inside without bumping into something.
