“Did you come to my dorm to go through my things?” Woohyun asked from his spot on the bed, his voice lazy and his body tired because of the summer heat.

Myungsoo looked up, sat on the floor with one of his friend’s drawers literally on his lap. “I’m bored.”

The other rolled his eyes at that. “And that gives you the right to invade my privacy?” He heard his friend chuckle.

“What privacy? I probably know you better than yourself after all these years.”

Woohyun gave up and pressed his head back against the wall behind him. “It’s too hot to do anything anyways.” Only silence answered him, as Myungsoo was focused on finding something interesting in his friend’s things. After some time, his eyes started to lose focus and slowly closed. He was suddenly drawn from his light slumber by his friend’s voice.

“What’s that key for? It looks really old.”

He reluctantly opened his heavy eyelids and looked at the object in the other’s hand. “I don’t know. Probably opens a door that doesn’t even exist anymore.”

Myungsoo looked at him curiously and chuckled. “What? Why do you keep a useless old key?”

Woohyun remained silent for a while. Good question. Why indeed did he keep it? He remembered the day he found it. He was helping his older brother with his new house and they had found an old key, probably opening one of the doors they had thrown away during the renovations. It wasn’t the least bit useful, and yet Woohyun had put it in his pocket and kept it until now.

“Maybe because it’s the last trace of something that was once important and doesn’t exist anymore.” His friend cocked an eyebrow and Woohyun answered in a low voice. “Why do you keep the letters Dongwoo used to send you?”

Lowering his head, Myungsoo looked at the ground, which suddenly felt really interesting. “How do you… know about the letters?”

A chuckle. “Come on, Myung. I probably know you better than yourself after all these years.” When the younger looked back up, he was met with Woohyun’s smile and he couldn’t help but smile as well. After a moment of silence, he got up and went to sit on the bed next to his friend, who went on with his explanation.

“You keep those letters, even though you two are no longer together, even though he found someone else he’s happy with and even though you don’t even like him anymore. You do that because these letters are all that’s left to your once beautiful relationship. Maybe everything disappeared, but not that. And I know you secretly hope he kept yours too, because that means remembering, accepting that you two once brought happiness to each other, even if it’s all gone.”

He looked at his friend, who just looked back at him in silence, waiting for the rest.

“This key is exactly the same. A proof that something else existed. A proof that, even though we made a whole lot of renovations into my brother’s house, even though he’s the one living there with his family, other people lived there before him, other people laughed, loved and cried within those walls.”

Another silence followed and Woohyun, slowly getting out of his tired state, chuckled at himself. “Or maybe I’m just weird.”

Myungsoo laughed at that. “Well you’re weird, that’s for sure. But I guess you’re right.”

And it was Woohyun’s turn to an eyebrow at him. “I’m right?”

“Why do you looked so surprised?”

The elder hesitated. “I’m just surprised that I chose the good option. It was either what I said, or you still had feelings for him. I just chose the one I liked better.”

His sentence was followed by Myungsoo’s calm smile. “Well, no, I don’t like him anymore.” And soon, amusement made its way on his handsome face. “But why do you like the other option better?”

When he saw the other blush a little before turning away, he had to hold back a chuckle. Messing with Woohyun was always funny and he wasn’t going to let this occasion pass. So he scooted a little closer to his friend and passed an arm around his tense shoulders.

“Hyung?”

“I don’t know! N-no reason, really.”

Woohyun was trying to look away as much as possible, but then Myungsoo’s hand found his chin and he turned his friend’s face so as their eyes could meet. And at that moment, he realized that he might have teased the other a little too much and overestimated his self-control, because couldn’t resist and leaned in just a little and dropped a kiss on Woohyun’s lips.

When he pulled away, his eyes immediately found the other’s dark orbs. The next words came as a whisper.

“I really don’t like him anymore.”

But then, Woohyun knew. Woohyun knew, because he knew Myungsoo more than he knew himself, that his friend’s words weren’t as honest as they were meant to be. And yet, he still closed the gap between their lips once again.

Because he also knew, when he felt Myungsoo’s smile against his lips, that if someone could ease the leftover bitterness in his friend’s heart, it was him.

Hello everyone! :) So, basically this idea came to me this morning, when I found in my room an old key I've been keeping for no reason. :p (or maybe because I thought it looked like the one in the MV for The Chaser xD)
