I'm better after the Baekhyun news hit me, much better now that i took a breather from writing, and since i'm back, i've decided to give you guys a small Kai Story for thanking you <3 I love my subbies, they're the best :) Thank you for staying by my side, i want to reward you with this fluffy short story :) Hope you'll like it, in which Kai is a y werewolf arghhhhhhh ;_; *Nosebleed*.

P R O L O G U E 

Kai growled and punched his pillow. 

The rain pelted hard onto the roof, splattering against the windowpanes like rocks being flung by the skies. Usually, Kai loved this type of weather, and would always be found playing outside in his wolf form until his fur would become slick with the water, not like he minded. Although he would always get a good scolding from Krystal (Suho’s mate), he hadn’t minded it in the least. 

Everything was different now. 

He closed his eyes and tried flinging himself back inside his past, lids fluttering shut as he thought back to that particular moment where those pair of eyes drowned him in his own self-resistance. It washed away instantly when it clicked, like there was only him, and her. The one he had been looking for and practically living for that particular moment of his life was not even a damn werewolf. 

No. 

She was just a simple, banal human. 

Kyungsoo had known instantly when the younger’s eyes had landed on the victim, not because they were practically glazed over and sparkling from an emotion much more passionate than love, but because of the stiffening of Kai’s muscles and his rigid posture as his jaw worked to comprehend what the heck was happening. The older male had been there before, which was why his hand had shot out instantly to stop Kai from doing major damage. He understood to an extent why Kai was as upset as this; his mate was a pure blooded human, a fragile thing on it’s own with an even more fragile heart that could be broken to pieces with one strike. But this could be dealt with some practice from the wolves and their mates to make the human feel more at ease. 

What Kyungsoo really felt sorry for wasn’t the fact that Jongin was mated to a human. 

But he was mated to a human child. 

 “How could that even happen?” Baekhyun had asked their alpha for some pointers when the news had been announced. Kai had been busy wallowing in sadness with his head in between his legs like a kicked puppy. 

Suho cleared his throat “Well, if it happened, it happened. You can’t possibly change anything. She’s his mate, and that’s final” 

“But hyung, what is he supposed to do now?” Sehun questioned. 

“Wait.” Suho walked over to the younger wolf, which let a small whine escape him and tried folding in on himself to stop anyone from seeing what kind of pain he was going through. But the leader knew well s, so when he tilted Kai’s face up to his, he caught sight of the pain swimming in the younger wolf’s orbs, one so bright and obvious that made his eyes blood red. 

“It’s not going to be easy, Jongin. I won’t hide anything to you, patience with us wolves is something that shouldn’t be tested” the leader hugged his shoulder comfortingly “But you’ll have to learn and deal with it. For now, you can only watch her grow until she’s at an appropriate age to be your mate” 

“B-But hyung…she’s only nine years old” Baekhyun yelped lightly when Kai sent him a withering look along with a soft growl. 

“Be strong Jongin. You know if you reject your mate, you’ll die with your every being throbbing with regret” 

That night, all that was heard was Kai’s howl resonating through the night air. 

The only thing he could do was watching over her, watch her grow more beautifully day-by-day with each passing year. He always stayed in the shadows in his wolf form, for fear that once the humans would discover him, he would be dead. He had tried countless times to make himself hate her from the pits of his core, but everything that he found negative got into a twisted cacophony inside his brain until he finally found it entrancing. Everything about her was somehow wonderful to him. It wasn’t for the fact that she was beautiful naturally or she was as gentle and kind as he had pictured inside his mind, but for him, she stood out like a diamond in a rug, a special being that had captured his heart the moment he laid eyes on her. Maybe to society, she was undeemed to be called pretty, or beautiful or elegant. 

To Kai, it was another story entirely. Beauty had another definition altogether now that his world turned around this angel. 

Lee Sarang. 

That was her name. 

He couldn’t wait to hear her name roll of his lips.
