The night prior to their reunion, Kyungsoo slept over at Baekhyun’s apartment for the sole reason that the latter may change its mind and decided to ditch the event. “I just wanted to make sure.” He repeated for nth time of the day.

In all honesty, Baekhyun admitted, he’s thankful that Kyungsoo insisted on sleeping over especially when he’s having a hard time over the “Chanyeol” thing. Yes, not attending the reunion is actually on the back of his mind. Baekhyun couldn’t help but sigh at his own silliness. “When will I grow up and get over with Park ing Chanyeol?”

“Hey Kyung,” Baekhyun initiated a conversation. His friend is already half-asleep but groaned anyway signaling that he’s listening. “What do you think I should do if I did meet Chanyeol?”

The younger guy adjusted himself and turned to face Baekhyun. “Baek, in my honest opinion, I think you should just greet him like an old friend. It already came from your own mouth that what happens between you two, that it if there’s any,” He emphasized, “has been long forgotten. I’m sorry to tell you this but I’m sure Chanyeol already move on with his life a long time ago. And I think maybe you should too.” Kyungsoo adjusted himself again; he’s now looking at Baekhyun’s bedroom ceiling. “8 years Baekhyun, it’s been 8 long years.  ”

It took me Baekhyun a few minutes to process everything that Kyungsoo had said. Everything is a ing arrow that hit him straight in his heart and brain. Kyungsoo’s more than right, he’s been holding on to the past. He should move on, like everyone else did. “Thanks Kyung, you’re such a good friend.” He glanced at his best friend.

“Woah woah whoa. You’re creeping me out Byun Baekhyun.” Kyungsoo gaped at his best friend in disbelief.

“What—? Never mind you .” Baekhyun rolled his eyes. The two guys stared at each other for a few seconds before erupting into series of laughter. Both of them understand each other very well.

“That’s more like it Baek.” Kyungsoo said still laughing.

The morning after Baekhyun was woken up by a whining Kyungsoo. Baekhyun’s completely furious. “Why does Kyungsoo always have to ruin his sleep?” With a heavy heart, the half-asleep guy heads to the bathroom still yawning. He glanced at his wall clock just before entering the bedroom. It’s quarter to 11. After cleaning himself up Baekhyun finds Kyungsoo in the kitchen clearly cooking their breakfast.

“Good morning, you’re Majesty,” Kyungsoo said playfully. “Breakfast is served.”

“Where’s the good in morning Kyung, if you just ruined my sleep— again!” Baekhyun replied sarcastically. “Honestly Kyung, I want to kill you right now.”

“Whatever you say Prince Baekhyun.” The wide-eye guy said setting the food he cooked in the table.  “Sit, I want to discuss something.”

“Not again D.O Kyungsoo.” Baekhyun rests his head on the table.  “Speak.”

“Well, the reunion party starts at 6PM.” Kyungsoo started.

“I know, I read the invitation Kyung.”

“Just listen you idiot! Do you have something to wear for the party already?” Kyungsoo snapped.

“Uh, yeah. I think I can find something decent in my closet.” The older of two said in a whisper like voice. Give him just a few more seconds and he’ll be back in dreamland. But Kyungsoo decided to be an again and starts verbalizing “I knew it, I knew it!” in a loud volume. Baekhyun swears that he’ll get his sweet revenge to Kyungsoo someday.

“I knew it!” Kyungsoo repeated once more. “Baek, you should at least make an effort to wear something nice for the party, something new.”

Baekhyun looked up from his resting place and eyed Kyungsoo. “It’s not like we’re going to some high social events. It’s just a reunion Kyungsoo.”

The latter took a deep breath as if he’s trying to calm himself. “Byun Baekhyun, go to your room and change, were going to the mall to find you a perfect outfit for tonight.

“But—“

“No buts, just go and change.”

Baekhyun stand up from his position and walked towards to the direction of his bedroom. He really wants to kill Kyungsoo right now. “Is he my mother? Why do I need to buy new clothes? It’s a waste of money.” He mumbles incoherently. He reached his bedroom door and enters, slamming it as loud as he can to suppress his frustrations. Kyungsoo on the other hand watched his best friend’s every movement and expected the slamming of the door.

“What an attitude for a 26 year old guy.” He remarked.

The two friends arrived at the shopping mall a little after 1 o’clock. The mall was a little bit packed since it was weekend. Kyungsoo dragged Baekhyun and started their ‘perfect outfit’ hunting. Even after almost trying every clothe shop, Kyungsoo keeps disapproving with Baekhyun’s choice of clothing.

“Why do you keep rejecting my choices? I’m not a girl Kyung. Let’s just buy anything that fits. It’s almost 4 already. We’re going to be late.” Baekhyun nagged.

“One last round, if we still don’t find the perfect outfit then we’ll just get something decent.” Kyungsoo said, disappointment is written all over his face.

The two went to look for Baekhyun’s clothes one last time. Kyungsoo is already losing hope but at the last shop they went into, finally they spotted it.

“Oh my god, you look perfect Baek.” Kyungsoo smiled widely. “We’ll get this.” He told the saleswoman.

“Blimey Kyung, it’s pretty pricey.” Baekhyun whispers to his best friend. Kyungsoo only shrugged.

They’re on their way home when Baekhyun stopped walking. They’re in front of what it seems like a jewelry store. Kyungsoo was puzzled.

“Do you want to buy something in there Baek?” Baekhyun gives no answers. “Baek, I said do you want to buy something?”

Baekhyun snapped back to reality. “Oh, no, I’m sorry. Let’s go now, we’ll be late.” He started walking again, Kyungsoo followed.

While on the ride home, Kyungsoo asked his Baekhyun when he sensed that something is clearly bothering his bestfriend. But Baekhyun only denied him and said that its nothing, remarked that he’s just tired. “It’s definitely not nothing.” Kyungsoo wanted to argue with his best friend but let it slip this time. He feels tired too.

[8 Years Ago]

“Why did you bring me here Chanyeol? Are you going to ask for my help to pick something for your girlfriend?” Baekhyun stated raising his left eyebrow.

“No Bacon, I wanted to get something for us. You know as a sign of friendship.” Chanyeol said timidly. “Also, I don’t have a girlfriend.” He added.

“Eww Yeol, you’re so cheesy. Why am I friends with you?” the shorter boy teases.

It’s been two months since the umbrella thing happened. They became friends much to the surprise of Baekhyun’s league. Kyungsoo and Minseok thought that the two is not compatible as friends, very unlikely. But soon enough they started hanging out with Chanyeol as well.

“So what do you want to get?” Chanyeol asked smiling at Baekhyun.

“Anything, but I think bracelet would be fine. “ Baekhyun responded.

“Okay. Let’s make them put our names on the bracelet,” he said. “And then I’m going to wear the bracelet with your name and you’ll do the same.”

“What? Like a couple bracelet? I want to smack you right now Chanyeol. That’s like gross.” Baekhyun blurted out.

“Just do it, Bacon.” Chanyeol scratched his nape. “Like I told you, it’s a sign of our friendship.”

Baekhyun sighed, “Do I have a choice?” he smiled.

[Present Day]

Baekhyun couldn’t help but feels nostalgic when they passed the same jewelry store Chanyeol had brought him before. It was one of those unforgettable memories of his with Chanyeol. Kyungsoo asked him if he’s alright but he just waved it off saying he’s just tired. He wants to tell Kyungsoo but his head decided against it. He paid his attention at his right wrist; there it was the bracelet that Chanyeol had bought him eight years ago. After all these years, he’s still wearing it. The words encrypted on the bracelet’s back side are still clear as the morning sky. PARK CHANYEOL. He took a deep breath before proceeding on untangling the bracelet off of his wrist. “I need to move on.” He told himself.
