“Yi Fan!” He heard someone call out.

Yi Fan turned his head, and saw a girl running towards him. He turned his body around, and saw whom the girl was. It was the girl from yesterday. She ran until, she reached in front of him.

“Ena,” he said, “Jo eun Ah chim.”

Ena bent her head to the side.

“Do reun Ah chim?”

Yi Fan chuckled.

“Ani, it’s Jo-eun Ah-chim. It means good morning.”

“Oh…” Ena laughed, “I didn’t know that there was something other than annyeonghaseyo for greetings.”

The tall couple started to walk together.

“It’s actually a direct translation of good morning from English.” Yi Fan clarified.

“How does that work?”

“’Jo-eun’ means ‘Good’ in Korean, while Ah-chim means ‘Morning’. So, Jo-eun Ah-Chim literally means ‘Good morning ‘ in Korean.”

Ena nodded.

“People use English like conversations in Korea?”

“Yea, they use it a lot these days.”

Ena nodded, and the 2 began walking in silence. After a few seconds, yi fan turned to look at Ena.

“You’re new here aren’t you?”

“Huh?”

“You just moved to Korea?”

“Oh, no. I’ve been here for about 6 years.”

“Then, why does my Korean seem better than yours?”

“When did you move here?”

“About… 4 – 5 years ago?”

Ena nodded.

“How come your Korean is really well?”

“Really good you mean?”

Ena chuckled.

“Nae.”

“I’ve been taking courses even before I moved here.”

“Oh…”

“You don’t take courses?”

“I took them, but stopped 3 years ago.”

“Why?”

“It was hard, and I couldn’t understand half of what the teacher was saying.”

Yi fan laughed.

“That’s why you stopped?”

“Nae.” Ena laughed.

The 2 kept on walking in silence, until Ena asked where Yi Fan was going.

“Me? I’m going to Seoul National University.”

“I’m going there to! You study there?”

“I just enrolled a week ago. This is my first day.”

“Oh, then we better hurry!”

“Why?”

“I wanna show you something before classes start!”
