Race 08. Ink
Drifting HeartsAria stared at him for a while but he never flinched, he stared right back at her. She could sense that it wasn't defiance behind his eyes, moreover, just plain old curiosity. She had seen the same look before, the exact same eyes.
She dismissed the thought and smiled, "Fine. What do you wanna know about me? Yes, I'm good. No, I don't have three horns. Maybe I like winning too much." She said, anticipating the usual round of questioning from this boy in front of her.
He smirked before shaking his head lightly, "That is not my question at all, but nice to know that people spread rumors about you having three horns." L.Joe chuckled.
She gave him a hard look, he was laughing at her. That was not something that occurred everyday. "What is your question then?" She asked him.
He nodded his head at her left wrist with the cursive, gothic A on it. "Is that your only ink?" He asked her directly. His brothers all nudged him for being too forward with her since all of them had gotten in trouble for doing so earlier.
"That's none of your business." Aria replied. But her eyes said different, she challenged him to push the topic. Maybe if he actually wanted to know then he would press on. If he wasn't just asking to spread another rumor, then he would actually try to figure it out. She wasn't about to give up her life story that easily.
"So that means it's not your only one then." L.Joe inferred from her defensive behavior. "Well then, where is the other one or is there more than that?" He asked her. He looked her up and down slowly, analyzing where on her body she would put another tattoo. She had covered up almost everything but the A, it would be a wild guess if anything.
"There's only one other tattoo on my body currently. If you manage to guess where it is, then I will tell you what they're about." Aria said confidently. She knew he wouldn't be able to guess correctly, no one ever had before. She had left that life a long time ago and she never carried herself that way ever since. He would never know. She felt his eyes rake up and down her body as she could see the gears turning in his head.
There was no way he could figure it out.
L.Joe contemplated the different places the girl could get a tattoo and be able to show it to him if he guessed right. It had to be her arms, ankles, or back. That was the only thing she wouldn't be embarrassed about.
But he had seen some of her arms from the race, she didn't seem the type to want to be too heavy on her arms with ink.
So it couldn't have been on her arms then. That left her ankles and her back, but her ankles didn't seem like something to get defensive about. It had to be something that would be embarrassing, something that a girl would hate to have known by people.
And there was only one tattoo that met all those requirements.
"It's a tramp stamp, isn't it?" L.Joe said casually, he knew that he had to be right. But she had to tell him, and her freeze after the words left his mouth was more than enough for him.
How had he managed to guess exactly what she had? She had never really implied that it was there had she? She dismissed the thoughts once more, she kept her word, that's the type of person she was. "Yeah, it's a tramp stamp with hearts and butterflies." She turned and showed it to them. "You're the only person who has ever guessed correctly."
"A tramp stamp is the only tattoo a girl would get defensive about." L.Joe reasoned. "Now, what is the A for?" He asked.
"I'm sure you've heard the self-absorbed story that's been going around?" Aria asked him.
"Actually, I've heard you got it to remember the legend since you both have names that start with A." L.Joe told her. All of his brothers stared at him in disbelief, because they had heard the self-absorbed story.
She smiled, "Been talking to Eric, I see." She gave him a look and he nodded. "His name was Andy and he taught me a lot of things."
"Where is he now?" L.Joe asked her.
Her demeanor grew sad, but she still answered, "He's disappeared."
"And the tramp stamp?" He asked and he watched as her mood changed once more. She grew serious and he knew she wouldn't answer his question.
"Forgetting that and moving on, you need to worry about breaking even. After you beat Joo, you need to race someone else but first, we need to determine who is best qualified to race for you." Aria said.
"Does that mean we will start driving?" Changjo asked.
Aria smirked, "That's exactly what the means. Show me what you got."
