Race 19. Closer
Drifting HeartsAria smiled to herself when she saw L.Joe win his race with ease, it was worth all that time on Hyeongkon’s track to prepare him for this. He was going to keep doing better at this rate, she might not have to worry about knowing him.
She caught herself before someone else saw her smile and headed back to her own car. She wasn't supposed to smile here, she was too cool for that.
Keeping her cool, she made her way to the straightaway. She never understood why people wanted to race her on this track. This was the track that had made her Queen.
But then again, considering that she only raced men, they probably chose the track to try and prove a point. That men were still better than her on her own turf.
It had yet to be proven, however, she was certain it would happen one day. She would give up her crown to someone else.
Micky walked over to them and Aria watched as a familiar red M3 pull up beside her.
He rolled down his window and gestured for her to do the same, she rolled her eyes and followed suit.
"Hey, princess. Gonna let Prince Charming rescue you this time?" He gave her a grin.
"I can rescue myself." Aria told him, "I don't need you."
"Awww, come on, princess. You know you want this." He winked at her.
Aria rolled her eyes at him again and rolled her window back up. She ignored his further attempts to talk to her.
“Aww, come on, sweetie. That’s no fun.” He whined to her and she gave him no reaction.
“Come on Woohyun, stop it with the pickup lines, you know she doesn’t want you.” Micky said walking over and scolding him.
Woohyun grinned at Micky, “Have you seen this? She wants me.” He said cockily, rolling up his own window and preparing for the race. If he won, he would make sure he got a date with that girl if it was the last thing he did.
Micky rolled his eyes at him, “Yoonji, signal please.” He told the scantily clad girl once again. She smiled at him as she stood between the cars, he gave her a grin back and Aria’s car sped off first as soon as Yoonji signaled ‘go.’
Woohyun had half a car length to catch up from the start and L.Joe could see that he was flooring it but he was no match for Aria, her car just reached 60 before his did. She continued in the lead and pressed Nos before he could, in case he wanted to overtake her.
She passed the finish line and spun her car around three times for dramatic effect, she got out of her car smoothly and the wind blew just right, blowing her hair away from her face. L.Joe watched her with a smile, he still knew that he was the only one who had ever got to see her without the makeup and the aura she had.
He went down the stairs to go to her but when he did he found Woohyun trying to get all over her with his pickup lines again. He walked up to them as the crowd gathered just to watch, no one did anything.
“Princess, you gotta make it up to me, let me take you out.” Woohyun told her and Aria walked away from him, only for him to chase her again.
“No, Woohyun. I’ve already told you multiple times, I’m not going out with you.” Aria said sternly, pushing him away but instead this allowed him to grab her hand and kiss it.
“Come on, just one chance.” He said sweetly, she yanked her wrist away from him and glared.
“No means no, Woohyun. Now, move it along.” Hyeongkon said, parting through the crowd with Mia in tow.
Woohyun glared at Hyeongkon, “Don’t interfere, you already have a girlfriend, so stop trying to get another one.” He said, still trying to wrap his arm around Aria.
L.Joe pulled his collar up and tried to step forward to save her but he was beaten to the punch when the body guards from last time stood between the two.
“Woohyun, do we really need to give you another reminder?” Taec said, standing back to back with Chan.
Woohyun rolled his eyes at them, “Not you two, again. Do you really have to try and me? Isn’t it enough that you have someone?” He said, gesturing at the both of them.
Chan stood wide as he blocked Aria from Woohyun’s view, he mouthed ‘go’ to her and she took off. She maneuvered through the crowd to find L.Joe put his arm around her and led her away. She gave him a small smile as she looked back to see Taec and Chan trying to resolve the problem with Woohyun.
“Nice guy, huh?” L.Joe said sarcastically to her.
“Ugh, just get me outta here.” She groaned, cringing from the thought of Woohyun touching her again.
“As you wish.” He said, leading her to the second floor of the warehouse where he just was. They sat beside each other, before L.Joe asked her another question, “Do you always race guys that wanna get in your pants?”
She threw him a look, “Every guy here wants to get in my pants. If they don’t, they’re not straight.” She said, without a cocky air that would be expected from her words.
“I don’t want to get in your pants.” He told her confidently, moving closer to her.
Aria eyed him suspiciously, “Really?” She asked, she wasn’t really sure she wanted to hear his answer. Vanity spoke to her but her inner self knew better as well.
L.Joe nodded his head, “Yup. If I wanted to get in your pants first, then I had every opportunity last night, didn’t I?” He pointed out to her, “Besides, I want to get to know more about you first. You’re quite mysterious.”
She smiled, satisfied with his answer, “I’m full of secrets, L.Joe. If you stick around, then maybe you’ll find out some of them.” She said before resting her head on his shoulder. He relaxed, allowing her to get comfortable.
It felt like forever when they stayed like that but Aria felt her phone vibrate and she had to check it, opening the text message, she sighed.
“What is it?” L.Joe asked her.
“You have another race tonight."
