It’s after school, and Dahae had officially declared her leave from school. She even told us about her new school in the countryside near where she’s staying… she seems happy there.

I met up with Momo and she took me to the Bakery Tao works at. Apparently she knows about it too. Tao invites us in and even gets some ice cream for us, what a surprise… “So Eunjoo-ah, can you tell me how you felt when you found out about me?” Momo asks with a serious tone, the first time she’s ever sounded serious before.

“I –uh I suppose I was a bit upset.” I answer honestly.

She has a weak smile and says. “Do you mind if I tell you a story?”

I nod to her. “Go ahead.”

“About a girl, who lives in China. A girl I know, her family are rich like mine and when she used to go to the events and parties for their companies she met a guy every time. She was young and foolish but when she had these parties she was excited to go and see him again. She fell in love with him after their 5th gathering.” She stops and smiles. “But then about a year ago her father informs her that she’d been engaged since she was in Elementary school and she should remember since she was there for the meeting with the other family. She was heartbroken, that guy that she met was so nice and also the same social group… she had hoped that her father would accept him and was planning to profess her feelings to him.”

“This girl… is it you Momo?” Tao says joining our conversation and sitting down with us.

She nods and says stupidly. “Was I that obvious?”

He giggles and answers. “Well yeah you’re too obvious actually, so that guy you fell in love with… what happened?”

“Well, I didn’t want to tell him any of this and hoped my father would give into me and let me choose the guy I wanted to marry then I got a picture handed to me… and it turned out the guy I was going to marry and the guy I fell in love with back a while ago, was the same person Yixing. It felt like destiny, and to make sure it was true I came here.” She sighs and says. “I didn’t realise he had a girlfriend here, I thought the way he’d act hostile to me in china was because he liked me and wanted me to be interested in him.”

I feel a lump in my throat. Momo has liked Lay for such a long time.

“Momo… your destiny really came true.” Tao says with a smile. “Well done!”

I eat a spoonful of ice cream only to get a brain freeze. I flinch and then Momo puts her hand on mine. “Are you okay?”

I nod. “Yeah, I’m fine.”

“Brain freeze…” Tao laughs.

I nod again.

Momo carries on about her story of Lay and how amazing he is, how much she loves him and I start to feel worse. I look at my phone and see a message from Kri
