The Return [The Fallen II] (Permanent Hiatus)

"No! No! No!"

You laughed and threw your arms up into the air as one of the characters on the screen fell onto its back.

"I win!" you cheered with a smile.

"Ugh, whatever," Luhan muttered as he threw the remote onto the coffee table and glared at the flat screen that was mounted on the basement wall.

You placed your remote on the table as well and reached over to the bowl of chips.

You bit back a smile when you saw the small pout on the telekinetic's lips.

"I can't believe you actually beat me," he mumbled.

"It was probably beginner's luck," you said as you threw a chip into your mouth, "And besides, you were going on easy on me anyways."

Luhan looked at you as you raised a hinting eyebrow at him.

"Oh, of course!" he smirked, sitting up straight and fixing his jacket.

You rolled your eyes and shook your head.

It didn't occur to you how much you really missed the other members until they were gone. And even though some time had passed, they were still the childish, fun-loving boys that you had grown to love and couldn’t live without.

As a comfortable silence fell over the both of you, the question that had been nagging you all morning started to resurface to the forefront of your mind.

"Luhan," you called with a hint of uncertainty that you hoped he wouldn’t notice.

"Yeah?" he asked as he raised his cup of iced tea to his lips.

"Has Suho been acting … strange recently?"

Luhan tilted his head to the side a little, "What do you mean?"

"I don’t know," you shrugged and looked down at your hands that were clasped in your lap, "I just noticed that he's been acting a little different lately."

"He has? I haven't really noticed," Luhan looked at you with a bit of concern in his eyes, "Why? Did he do anything to you?"

"No, not to me," you shook your head, "More towards you guys."

Luhan knitted his eyebrows together, "Okay, now I'm confused. Do you mind telling me what's going on, Miyoung?"

You bit the inside of your lip at his bluntness. But you should have known, Luhan isn't one to beat around the bush.

"Suho yelled at Sehun today," you mumbled.

Luhan's eyes brightened as he let out a laugh and rolled his eyes, "Suho always yells at Sehun. That kid seriously -"

"No, you don't understand," you cut him off and shook your head slowly, "It wasn't a playful scolding. Suho looked seriously angry and all Sehun was doing was talking to me."

The concern returned to his eyes.

"We were just talking in the kitchen," you continued, "And suddenly, Suho barged in and started yelling at Sehun, telling him to get back to training. Sehun looked so scared and I have never seen Suho so angry before."

"Ahhh," Luhan nodded and leaned back into the couch cushions, "So that's it."

"I don’t understand," you sighed, "Why is he acting like this? Is it something I did?"

"He's been acting like this ever since …" you saw a flash of pain run over Luhan's features. But his expression quickly turned back to normal, "Ever since Kris died."

You bit your lip as vivid images of that night flashed through your mind. You squeezed your eyes shut and shook your head, pushing the memories away.

"But why?" you asked.

"I have no idea, you would have to ask Suho himself about that."

You internally groaned. Why couldn't Luhan just tell you? Why did you have to find out from Suho? It was pretty obvious that he didn't want to see you, let alone talk to you.

"Wait a second," something in Luhan's head clicked, "Why do you think you’re the reason for Suho's strange behavior?"

"Umm, what? I don't know," you avoided Luhan's eyes and chided yourself for letting your voice get a little higher at the end of your lie.

"Come on, Miyoung," he deadpanned, "I'm not stupid, and definitely not blind. You know, Suho isn't the only one who's been acting strange lately."

Luhan sighed when you continued to stay silent. He placed a hand gently on your knee, ignoring how you flinched at the contact.

"You know you can tell me anything right?" he voice was so soft, it was barely above a whisper, "I may not be as gentle as Lay or warm and open as D.O, but I can promise you that I won't judge you."

Although your brain was telling you to keep your lips sealed, you know in your heart that Luhan's words were true.

You took a deep breath and your dry lips.

"I broke up with him," you croaked, your eyes already filled with tears.

Luhan's eyes widened in shock, "What?!" he exclaimed, a little louder that he had intended.

"I mean," he cleared his throat and glanced around the room, "How? Why?"

"I don't know," you choked out as a few tears escaped your eyes, "I wasn't thinking straight. All I could think about was how he lied to me and told me that I wasn't an Angel and you guys weren't Guardians, and Kang and all the other Demons were fake. And I guess I was just really scared and didn't know what to do and-"

Luhan cut off your rambling and gathered you into his arms, gently rubbing circles on your back as you sobbed into his chest.

"Shh, it's okay," he hushed as he rocked the both of your from side to side.

The harder you tried to hold back your tears, the faster they seemed to fall.

"He's scared too, you know?" Luhan mumbled and rested his chin on the top of your head, "He may try to seem all tough and brave, but his eyes give him away. But really, I know he's trying to be brave for you."

"For me?" you scoffed, "He doesn't want anything do to with me anymore. You should have seen him this morning. He didn't even want to look at me. He hates me."

Luhan roughly pushed you away from his chest and grabbed your face between his hands.

"Stop it," he ordered as he gave you a deathly glare, "Don't you ever, ever, say that, okay?"

You nodded numbly with wide, fearful eyes. A new batch of tears suddenly started to stream down your cheeks.

Luhan's eyes softened and he felt his insides tearing apart at the sight of you crying.

"Suho loves you, he always will," he whispered as he thumbed away your tears, "Please don't forget that."

You nodded once again with a small sniffle.

"I won't," you gave him a watery smile to ease his guilt and pulled away to wipe your tears with the back of your hand.

Luhan watched as your tears slowly subsided and your breathing turned back to normal.

"You okay?" Luhan asked, tucking your hair behind your ear.

You nodded, your bubbly smile returning.

Luhan couldn't help but let a laugh escape from his lips when you threw your arms around his neck, almost knocking him backwards.

"Thanks, Luhan," you whispered into his neck as he wrapped his arms around your waist.

Just as he was about to respond, you felt Luhan suddenly tense before quickly pushing you away.

"What-?" you looked up at him in confusion.

But he was focused on something behind you, a look of horror on his face.

You followed his line of sight and threw your hand over your mouth to prevent yourself from gasping.

Suho stood in the doorway, completely frozen from shock, with a wide-eyed Chen behind him. He still had his hand on the doorknob as he looked between you and the Guardian sitting next to you.

Although you could tell that he was trying to put on his emotionless, leader mask, Luhan was right; Suho's eyes did give him away.

You saw betrayal and confusion as he glanced at Luhan and hurt and heartbreak when his eyes met yours, even if it was just for second.

"Hyung…" Chen warily placed a hand on the leader's shoulder.

Suho seemed to snap back to his sense at the voice of the younger boy. He quickly shook off Chen's hand before pushing past him and running up back the staircase.

You sat there for a few minutes, your mind blank, your body immobile, and your eyes glazed over.

"What are you doing?" Luhan shook your shoulders, "Go after him!"

You blinked a few times and looked at the two boys who were still in the room.

You suddenly felt feeling return to your legs and you jumped off the couch and ran after Suho.
