Hana's POV

The weekend after Jae and I talked we had family dinner -just the 4 of us. Robert had to work and Jae thought Matt shouldn't be there when we talked about him. Mom made some of my favorite food and chocolate cake with buttercream frosting just 'cause.

"I swear you're trying to make me fat before the wedding mom." said Jae as she helped mom put away the food.

"I'd never do that my dear." She said innocently as we all made our way to the living room and sat down.

"Sure.....I never gained weight at college, but I always gained weight coming home." she plunked down on the couch.

"Yeah, me too!" I exclaimed.

"Someone's got to keep you two from turning into skin and bones." piped our father.

"When have we ever been skin and bones Dad?" I said rolling my eyes and laughing.

"So, how's your job going Jae?" asked mom.

"Great! I'm really enjoying the hospital and my co-workers are very helpful."

"Glad to hear that honey." said mom.

"How about the wedding planning?" asked dad.

"Pretty good. There's just so much to do and get done, but Dea and Nana have been a big help."

"If you need any help let me know dear." said mom

"Okay mom! I will." she said and took a deep breath. "Mom. Dad. I have some things I want to tell you."

"Sure, what is it honey?" asked dad.

"I went for a checkup the other day just to make sure I was okay, and the doctor told me I may not be able to have kids." she said tearing up with her lip quivering.

"Come here dear." said mom motioning to Jae to come snuggle.

"If only I hadn't had an abortion this wouldn't have happened. It was probably your only chance at a grandbaby from me." she sobbed.

"Shhhh, shhhh my dear. You were young and scared when you made the decision. How would you know this would happen? I would have loved to meet that little one, but I'm glad you finished school too. Have you told Robert?" mom asked.

"Yes. We're planning on adopting after we get settled into our new home." said Jae drying her tears on her sleeve.

"I'm delighted your considering adoption dear, so I'll be a grandma after all." said mom excitedly.

"I'm happy you'll accept a grandbaby that isn't ours by blood. I was worried you wouldn't." said Jae.

"Of course we would honey! Every child is a gift from God. Opening your hearts and home to little ones that need a place to go is a wonderful thing." said Dad.

"Thank you mom and dad!" said Jae. "Now, I wanted to talk to you about Nana & Matt."

"Oh?" asked our mom looking at me. 

"Nana, told me that a couple weeks before the semester ended that Matt got a bit aggressive when he was drunk over a misunderstanding with her hugging Kris."

"Why were you hugging Kris, Nana?" asked dad.

"I was congratulating him on accepting Christ as his savior." and it was just a simple hug.

"Really?! That's fantastic!" said mom. "But what did Matt do?"

"He beat up Kris pretty bad, and when I tried to pull him off he pinned me against a tree, kissed me aggressively, and d me. Kris pulled him off and told him to go home before he called the cops. If Kris hadn't been there I think he would have me."

"That Jerk! How dare he! Why do things like this happen to my girls? Why?" Said my father angrily and sending him into tears.

"I'm okay dad and luckly he didn't go all the way." I said patting his arm.

"Yes, and I'm glad you're okay, but he doesn't have the right to do that to you drunk or not!" when I stayed silent, he continued speaking. "I want you to stop seeing that boy."

"We made an agreement with rules about no drinking, meeting publically, coming to CRU during the school year, and no touching unless I agree. If he breaks any of the rules I told him he would be saying goodbye."

"Still, your father's right dear -I think you're asking for trouble going out with him again. I don't want to have to re-live Jae's troubles all over again. Did she tell you what had happened?" asked mom.

"Yes, but I think I can handle this. I promise if things are going bad I'll break it off for sure."

"I trust you Nana, but I don't trust him." said dad.

"Me neither!" agreed mom. "We're not just preventing a heartbreak, but your safety too my dear."

"I know. That's why I love all of you so much. I got into a fight with Kevin over this and Mary wasn't very happy either."

"Ah," said my mother with a twinkle in your eye. "You're still talking to him? His mom mentioned that you two had been chatting quite a bit last time we had talked."

"Yes mom."

"Why can't you just date a nice guy like him?" sighed my mom

"He's got a girlfriend mom." I groaned -everyone seems to think I have Marry Kevin stamped on my forehead.

"So?"  she said as I rolled my eyes.

"Yeah, you never know Nana." said my dad with a wink.

"Not you too dad!" I said tossing a pillow at him.

"Pillow fight!" Yelled Jae as dad tossed a pillow back at me. We were all laughing and out of breath in a matter of minutes, but it was awesome. It had been years since we had done an all out pillow fight. 

"There's my cardio for the day." I joked.

"No kidding!" Jae agreed.

"Hey girls, I think we need to have some girl talk just the two....or three of us." she said looking at me and Jae.

"Think over what we said okay Nana?" I nodded "and that's my cue to leave." said dad heading to the kitchen for a snack. "Night Gorgeous! Night JJ! Night Nana!"

"Night Daddy!" Jae and I chirped together.

"So what did you want to talk about mom?" I asked.

"Well, since you're staying with Matt for the moment I think we should discuss some Birth Control for you just in case something comes up."

"Mom! Do we have to?" I said scrunching my nose.

"Yes dear. "This is important because I don't want you to end up in the same shoes Jae was years ago." said mom.

"Fine, but please don't go all out! I think I'll lose my cake if you do."

"Don't worry. We're just talking the basics."

"Great." I said rolling my eyes -family discussions usually end up awkward in some way or another, and tonight I think we hit the Jackpot between Jae, me, and now this.

"Don't roll your eyes." said Jae smacking me on the back of my head.

"Ouch! Jae!" I exclaimed polking her back.

"Girls, stop acting like your 5!" ordered mom.

"Well maybe I am five?" I said batting eyelashes.

"Aish! You two sometimes." she said shaking her head. "Now if you'll keep your hands to yourself, let's start......."
