June 27-Preparation

“Oh, have you prepared your clothes for tomorrow?” Mrs Kim asked.

“Jaekyung and I will be going to the mall later.” Daehyuns said.

“Tell your friends that the party will start at 6PM.” Mrs Kim reminded.

“Ne, eomma.” You said.

“Do I really have to wear a dress?” you asked.

“Yeah. Mom said we should wear formal clothes.” Daehyun said.

“It’s more like an engagement party rather than a birthday party.” You joked.

“I hope so...” he said. “Okay. I was just kidding.” He added. Both of you laughed.

You and Daehyun looked for beautiful clothes and started fitting them. When the two of you have chosen what to buy, you went back home.

“Woah~ your dress is so beautiful! Just like you...It’s your first time to wear something like this, isn’t it?” your mom said.

“Yeah. My first time wearing such a dress on my birthday.”

“You should thank Mr and Mrs Kim.”

“I’ve already thanked them.”

“I feel so sorry for not being able to give you such an amazing party.”

“It’s ok. It doesn’t matter as long as we’re happy and complete.”

“I’m so excited for tomorrow. I’m sure you’ll look perfect.” Your mom sounded more excited than you are.

“Even though without makeup she still looks perfect, mom. I mean, auntie.” Daehyun butted in.

“Aigo, Daehyun. You can call me ‘mom’, ok? We’re all one big family here.”

“Really? Ok. Thanks...mom..”

In your room

You can’t sleep cause of excitement. Your door suddenly opened.

“Daehyun-oppa...What brings you here?” you asked.

“Why are you still awake?” he asked back.

“I can’t sleep. You?”

“Waiting for 12AM. 10 minutes more and it will be our birthday.”

“What? It’s already that late?! I’m so sleepy but I can’t sleep.” You said. “You’re really waiting for it, aren’t you?” you continued.

“Of course. I’ll be a year older. ARGH~ I’m so old.” He said.

“Hey, you’re not alone.”

“You’re just turning 25 while I’ll be 27. I miss beinga teenager.”

“Yeah. It would be fun to go back in the past.” You reminisced.
“Past? You mean, when you still don’t know me?” he joked.

“No, it’s not like that.”

“Then what?” he started tickling you.

“Yah! Stop! Stop!” you can’t stop laughing.

“Stop! We’re so noisy. We might wake the others up.” You  told him.

“We? I’m not. You’re the only one who’s laughing out loud here.” He stopped tickling you.

“Well, you’re the one who’s tickling me nonstop.”

Daehyun checked the time. “Happy Birthday.”

“It’s already 12AM? Wuah~ time is fast. Happy birthday.” You said.

“Happy Birthday to us.” He said.

“It’s getting late. We should go to sleep or else we’ll look horrible tomorrow. Eyebags.” You reminded him.

“Yeah, I’ll be going back to my room.”

*She sounds so happy with Daehyun. No. This can’t be. I’ll make her happy too. They’re just friends. Nothing more. I’ll bring her back to me.  I will.* Jongup heard you and Daehyun. He was listening to the two of you. When the door swung open, he hid so Daehyun won’t see him.

June28-6PM

“Happy birthday, Jaekyung and Daehyun!” Yongguk greeted.

“Thanks.” You and Daehyun said.

“Jaekyung-ah, a year has already passed since the....”

“Oppa..” you stopped him.

“Sorry.” Yongguk said.

~Party party~

Jongup and Zelo performed a dance number. Youngjae sang a song with Yongguk rapping. Slow-dance songs started to play. Jongup asked you to dance with him.

“Happy birthday, beautiful.”
“Thanks.”

He wore a letter J necklace around your neck.

“That’s my gift. I hope you’ll always wear it.”

“Omo~ it’s pretty. Thanks, oppa.”

“It stands for....”

“Jaekyung, right?”

*It’s jongup.* he thought. “A-ah, ne..Jaekyung.” he smiled.

Several friends of yours asked you to dance, so as to Daehyun.

And at last, it’s time for the birthday boy to ask the birthday girl to dance.

“Jaekyung-ah, Happy birthday.” He gave you a bouquet of roses.

“Can I have this dance?” he asked.

“Yeah, sure. Why not?” you said. “By the way, thanks for the roses.” You added.

“You’re always welcome.” He grabbed your wrist and wore a bracelet around it.

“My birthday gift. I hope you’ll always wear it.”

“Thanks, oppa. Here’s my gift.” You grabbed a small box from your shoulder bag and handed it to him.

“I hope you’ll always wear it.” you smiled.

He excitedly opened the box. It’s a wristwatch.

“Omo, Jaekyung. This is so expensive. I love it. Thanks.”

“Anyway, have you seen my brother?”

“Himchan-hyung? Nope, I haven’t seen him.”

“Where is he? He’s suppose to be here. It’s our birthday.” You sadly said.

The slow-dance song suddenly stopped and the lights turned off.

“Happy birthday to my dear brother and sister. I will be singing a song for the very special sister of mine.” You heard a voice from the microphone and a spotlight was on him, it was Himchan.

You were shocked and very happy; you were about to cry. Daehyun gave you a hug. Youngjae brought a cake and the two of you blew the candle.
