NOTE TO SELF: Kris might like me
Superiority Complex
I am met with a beetroot red Sehun as I breach the question that afternoon in our dorm room.
"Seriously Sehun, what was that?"
He merely blushes and faceplants in my pillow.
"We need to sort this out. I didn't know you liked Luhan, hey Sehun." Kai cooes.
"What?"
"If I'd have known... You know all Luhan talks about half the time is how smart you are."
Sehun, if possible, goes another twenty shades redder.
"He really likes me?" He asks.
Kai nods.
"He's obsessed."
If he's obsessed, I'd rather not see what happens.
"When we go bowling tomorrow, we'll set you two up!" Chanyeol shrieks.
There's a lot of nodding.
Once it's Saturday, I find myself in both a state of shock and depression.
I didn't expect Kai to invite Kris.
So now I'm sitting here awkwardly next to Lay, in these stupid looking bowling shoes. Kris sits across from me and watches the whole night.
It's unnerving.
"You've been really quiet," Lay whispers in my ear, so no one but me can hear.
"Are you OK?"
I gulp.
"You know that blonde guy... He used to bully me. And I kind of had a crush on him."
"Kind of?"
"OK. It was a big crush."
Lay gives me a sad look and turns to face Kris, looking him up and down for perhaps the first time.
Kris just stares wantonly.
"Hey Tao, your turn!" Chanyeol all but throws a bowling ball into face.
"Right, right!"
I take it from him and bowl as straight as possible.
Which happens to be right down the gutter.
"Anyone seen Sehun and Luhan?" Kai asks.
"Think they went to get food," Kris mumbles.
He's not enjoying this.
I snuggle up to Lay and we greet Sehun and Luhan excitedly once they make their way back.
They're holding hands.
"Bring on the love fest," Chanyeol shouts.
Luhan blushes.
"Sehun asked me out."
He looks like a schoolgirl, with the ways he's swooning over my bowl cut friend. What a weirdo.
"I also have an announcement for the group," Lay says with a smile.
"Tao, I really like you. I was wondering, do you want to go out?"
I blush furiously as they all eye me expectantly.
Kris is just sitting there, watching me as always. My heart rate is at a million miles an hour, so I try to steady it.
I like Lay, but he can't be serious.
"Are you serious, Lay?" I ask him in a whisper.
"Do... do you really like me?"
Lay nods.
"I do. Please, give me an answer..."
I look around.
Sehun's staring. Everyone's staring.
Even Kris.
I breathe in and out.
Relaxed. Composed.
I look Lay straight in the eye, and whisper one word that will change everything.
"Yes."
I don't realise Kris has left in tears until after Lay has kissed me.
