“Daddy?” Suho hears a voice poking through his film of sleep and he turns over, frowning, slightly disturbing the thick blanket cocoon of warmth swathing both him and Kris. Kris coughs softly beside him the snoring stops, signalling that he’s half-awake now.

“Daddy I- I can’t sleep.” Chanyeol sniffs. Suho lifts his head up from his pillow to look at Chanyeol. He’s on the verge of tears, eyes sparkling in the soft moonlight swirling in through the open window. His arms firmly grasp his squishy old pillow round the middle and he squashes his lower face into it, looking up, frightened, at his dads.

“Can I- Can I-“ Chanyeol looks over his shoulder and meeps as the wind creaks the door close. He shuffles forward a bit, nearly tripping over his two feet. Suho blinks for a few seconds to register the fact that this isn’t a dream and Chanyeol’s scared out of his wits.

“Ah, of course. Come on.” Suho croaks, his voice rusty from sleep. He reaches out his arms towards Chanyeol and the toddler immediately rushes into the warm embrace without any hesitation.

“I thought the- the-“ Chanyeol stutters as he climbs over Suho’s body to nestle himself in the middle. “The-“ He sniffs and clings to his pillow like a baby koala.

Kris pulls the covers over Chanyeol’s chin and blearily drapes his arm over him and half of Suho, then flops back down to sleep. “It was that teletubbies show, right.” Suho rubs his eyes with his fists and holds back a yawn. “Ah hell. Kris I told you they were scary”.

Kris cracks open an eye and glares at Suho. “Shh.” He presses a finger to his partner’s lips. “Sleep.” He murmurs and Suho’s eyes cross downwards to stare indignantly at the offending finger.

Chanyeol giggles through his tears and nudges Kris’s lips with his own stubby finger. “Sleep.” He slurs after Kris.

Kris blinks in minor confusion, then smiles a little, wiping Chanyeol’s tears away with the pad of his thumb as Chanyeol scrunches his features in distaste. “Yeah, slee...”

Suho huffs softly as Kris’s head slumps gently onto Chanyeol’s small body. “Idiot.”

“Teeheehee.” Chanyeol squirms to wiggle away from under Kris’s large head. “Daddy stupid. Heehee.”

“Yes, daddy stupid.” Suho pats his son’s head approvingly. “Go to sleep, daddy will protect you.”

After several whisper-filled minutes, the three of them fall asleep, crossing the thin line separating the real world and the unreal.

Then a shrieking wail breaks them harshly out of their little fragile cocoons.

“Daddy I had a nightmare I’m scared!” Baekhyun wails as he stumbles into the room, tears and mucus pouring down his cheeks, every orifice on his face open.

Suho groggily opens his arms and welcomes the blubbering Baekhyun to the nightmare club. Kris grunts and adjusts himself accordingly to accommodate the growing pile of children between himself and Suho.

And it isn’t long before Sehun and Luhan come along, Sehun clinging tightly to Luhan’s back, tear streaks down both their terrified faces.

Suho glares at Kris, who unknowingly snores on.

“Daddy stupid.” Chanyeol giggles as he hugs Baekhyun comfortingly.

Suho helps Sehun and Luhan clamber onto the king-sized bed just as a sobbing Tao comes around the corner hand-in-hand with Lay.

Yes, stupid.
