“And then the teacher told us that plants grew from little rocks called seeds and the rocks needed water and the sun to grow!” Chen clutches Kris’ hand as they walk towards the car. Well, Kris is walking, Chen’s skipping. He’s that happy. His feet leave the ground so much it’s like he’s flying.

Kris hums in response and grips Chen’s tiny hand as they cross the road. He loves hearing Chen’s experiences in school. The way Chen’s mind works is baffling. Once he came home insisting on wanting to wear a bra because they learnt about underwear that day.

Oh the joy. Kris had to buy him a gigantic stuffed duck plushie just to shut him up.

“What else did you learn today, Chenzi?” Kris automatically asks as he buckles Chen into the car seat. It’s hard though; Chen’s bouncing everywhere.

“Ping Hui threw up today! And Yi Ling asked me to be her partner but I didn’t want to so I told Junsu to be hers instead because she likes Junsu too!” Chen beams up at Kris as he fastens the buckle. There’s perhaps two seconds of deep consideration before Chen speaks again.

“I think she likes Himchan too. And Kevin and Daesung and Sungmin and Key.”

Chen frowns. “Is it okay to like so many people?”

Kris chuckles and pats Chen’s head. “Yes. You like all of us, don’t you?”

Chen nods absentmindedly. “Yeah but you guys are five people. She likes…” Chen counts off on his fingers.

“Nine, no, seven. She likes seven people.” He mutters seriously.

Kris smirks at Chen’s innocence and goes around the car to the driver’s seat.

The whole drive is peppered with Chen’s questions about having multiple wives.

I just wanted to write this :D It's actually part of a longer story, but I decided to cut it like this because the second part has very little relation to the whole car ride scene.

It has something to do with oranges, though.
