[set in the universe where Kris and Suho live apart]

“Appa, when’s Sehun coming over?” Luhan flops down onto Ms. Zonfernkberg, his body-sized stuffed deer toy.

Kris’s newspaper rustles as he turns the grey pages. “Tomorrow, Luhan. I told you three times already.”

“But tomorrow’s tomorrow. It’s one more day. Twenty-four hours.” Luhan whines into Ms. Zonfernkberg’s neck.

“Actually, it’s twenty.” Xiumin pipes up from where he’s sitting in the room, weighed down by a sleeping Tao on one thigh and a snoring Lay on the other. “It’s four now. They’re coming over at noon.” He smiles so widely that his eyes crinkle into crescents.

“Smartass.” Luhan mumbles into Ms. Zonfernkberg.

“Language!” Kris gasps over the top of his paper.

“Sorry, appa.” Luhan cheekily smiles back, then immediately slams his head back into Ms Zonfernkberg and starts whining again.

“Shut up! I can’t hear Barney over you!”

“Language, Chen!” Kris admonishes.

Chen doesn’t even bother with an apology as he grunts and shifts his three-legged stool closer to the rerun of an old Barney episode.

“I wanna see Sehun now.” Luhan wails into the deer.

Then, at that very moment, the phone starts ringing. The shrill bell causes Kris to wince. He immediately folds his newspaper and stands up.

“Play nice, guys. Remember, language.” Kris waggles his finger at Chen and Luhan.

Luhan just makes dying whale noises into Ms Zonfernkberg.

Kris strides into the other room which has one of the two phones around the house and answers it, successfully killing the noise.

“Hello? Oh, Suho? Yeah? What? Where? Now?!”

Kris slams the phone back into the receiver and sprints out of the room, across the kid’s room to the front door. Just before he can turn the door handle, the door bursts open, nearly clipping him on the elbow.

A flash of grey and black sprints past Kris and tumbles right into the motionless lump called Luhan.

“Sehun! Calm down!”

“Luhan-hyung! Luhan-hyung! Sehunnie missed you!” Sehun’s voice wails around the room, accompanied by Luhan’s shocked gasp and girly squeals as both kids tumble around over Ms Zonfernkberg.

Kris ignores them for the time being and takes Suho’s ‘father bag’ from him. He frowns. “You should have called me first, I don’t have anything prepared now.”

Suho grins brightly. “What for? We’re family, right? We are one, Ohana, er- Hakuna Matata? Ah, whatever, you know what I mean.” He waves Kris away and follows his kids inside the house.

“Sehun was whining about Luhan so much I was really considering just shoving him to you for the rest of his life.” Suho does a ‘^___^’ face as he watches Luhan and Sehun roll around, playfully trying to bite each other like little puppies.

Over at another corner, Baekhyun’s poking a half-awake Tao, Chanyeol’s excitedly joining Chen at the tv with Kai just next to him, and the rest of them are having a group hug which slowly morphs into a human pile.

A warm feeling rises up in Kris’s chest and he smiles.

Ohana. Yes, this is ohana.

Whoo! One more chapter to chappie 12! I already have the first part written out, so expect a double update whenever I update chapter 11 ^__^
