part 7

“Okay, class dismissed.”

Jessica had her chin on her palm as she watched her well dressed male professor winked at her handsome boy classmate. The view was amusing, interesting when her friend cringed after their professor sent him a wink every single time he ended the class.

She grabbed her bag, walked through the tables and patted her classmate shoulder. Jessica didn’t know which one is the most surprising; knowing that her good looking fashionable professor is a gay or knowing that Sunny is actually cheerleader captain. Maybe both are at the same level.

It was just that, she found Sunny is too… small to be even a member of cheer group. You know, she doesn’t get the looks. Too innocent that little face.

The bell rang and Jessica started to walk fast to the canteen before anyone sit on her usual table. At the time she reached there, a couple already sat there, eating casually. She walked her way there.

“Excuse me, but this is my seat.”

The black hair looked up to meet Jessica’s face and nodded her head to the chair in front of her. Sunny sat beside the older girl, waving her fork towards Jessica.

“Oh hi Jess! Come sit. Class ended early?”

“Yea. Why are you two here already?”

“Just finished practicing.” Sunny answered as she forked a potato from her plate and feed Tiffany.

Looking at the scene before her, dumbfounded, Jessica scoffed and shifted her eyes to Sunny as if she could kill her with her eyes.

“Tiffany has her own hands.”

The small girl didn’t even look at Jessica as she wiped the remaining food on the side of Tiffany’s mouth when she answered.

“Oh, Fany doesn’t mind that. Right?” added a bright smile.

“Can’t resist you.” A very beautiful smile Tiffany flashed to Sunny.

Jessica’s blood boiled. She scoffed, planting grenade to her stare. Tiffany still looked at Sunny, unfortunately didn’t notice Jessica’s effort to kill her with her eyes. She stood, planned to grab her own food and looked for another seat far away from them.

Just in case she blew up the place if they keep on doing it in front of her.

“Where’re you going?”

“Grab some food.” She rolled her eyes without looking at Tiffany.

So later after their classes ended, to her surprise, she got a text from Sunny, asking her whether she wanted to join them to hang out. The small girl said Tiffany will come along of course, and without second thought Jessica said yes. Maybe it was the time for her to getting herself closer to Tiffany.

Just like they used to.

It wasn’t like that night would be the first time the three of them hang out together. That actually would be the umpteenth times already. Jessica lost count of how many times she almost smacked Sunny’s face with her bag. But aside of that, Sunny was a very good friend.

Maybe that’s why Tiffany let the other girl clung to her very much. Maybe.

Sunny might be rarely hang out with them because she had that cheerleading practice almost every day and Tiffany said the petite girl easily missed someone. Though, that didn’t make Jessica understand. Well, Sunny rarely met Jessica but the girl never clung like that to her. But when with Tiffany she was like glued to Tiffant that make her never ― or can’t ― let her hand go from Tiffany’s arm.

It was annoying, Jessica refused to understand.

And as expected, Sunny did clung to Tiffany’s arm when they finally went  out. To make her annoyed more, the small girl could always found a way to make Tiffany drew her attention fully to her. Very nice, Jessica thought she was just a third wheel.

Bored, much to her bad mood actually, Jessica stopped and turned to go inside to starbucks. Maybe a cup of coffee or two can calmed her nerves down. By that she hoped she could had her time alone because she really didn’t want to see clingy Sunny anymore and Tiffany who didn’t bother. But they were buddies (Sunny said) and of course those two wouldn’t go anywhere without Jessica.

Just for the sake of whatever Sunny prefer as buddy was.

Jessica rolled her eyes when she sat and the other two followed suit. She didn’t mind Tiffany at all, of course. Her problem was just the other human being who looked like she couldn’t support herself to stand up instead she held onto Tiffany all the time.

“I don’t know you like coffee.” Tiffany said looking at the coffee on Jessica’s hand.

“Me neither.” She said flatly then drew her eyes away.

“Who wants cheesecake?”

There, the human being chirped and started to slide it and forked it to feed Tiffany. Jessica looked at the small girl while sipping her coffee. She hadthat bright smile on her face and Tiffany just being Tiffany, the kind one and seemed to accept whatever Sunny gave to her.

Tiffany hummed and her eyes turned into pair of crescent.

“Taste good?” Sunny asked.

Tiffany nodded like a kid. Jessica never saw her acted like that before.

“Verrryyy~”

Her eyes shifted to Sunny who was now clapping. “Now please feed me.”

Upon this, Jessica’s eyes snapped fully open and when Tiffany about to take the fork to feed the other girl, Jessica grabbed it first then forked large piece of the cake and shoved it to Sunny’s mouth.

“Enjoy.”

Tiffany laughed at them.

***

“Take care.”

“It’s just practice, Fany. What to take care.”

The girl went inside the car which the door opened by Tiffany. Sunny chuckled, her hand still lingered on Tiffany’s hand when the door closed. Jessica rolled her eyes.

“I’m sorry, I’ll pay next time I promise.”

“Just go.” Jessica mumbled to herself as she looked at the two before her.

Really, that was too much, Sunny was just going to practice and now this? Tiffany acted like Sunny gonna go somewhere real far and wont back till next year.

“Bye Jessica!” they girl waved her hand at her and Jessica just nodded in reply.

Shifted her eyes from the car to Tiffany whose hand on her pocket as she still waved at the car Sunny was in. The girl stopped waving just when the vehicle vanished on the turn. Tiffany then looked at her, smiling softly.

“Looks like you’re stuck with me.”

It was not like Jessica mind, at all.

“Yeah.”

It was better.

Tiffany nodded her head to Jessica signaled her to walk. The girl still had her hands tucked on her pocket and Jessica doesn’t know what got in to her when she wrapped her hand around Tiffany’s arm. She didn’t look up to meet with the other girl’s surprise gaze. Jessica had her eyes on the pavement, hiding her own blush.

“Where to go now?” Jessica asked clearing .

The answer was a bit late but Tiffany’s voice sounded so calm and soft and all Jessica wanted was to hear that voice for the rest of the day.

“I don’t know. It is quiet cloudy now. You wanna go somewhere?”

Just when Jessica about to speak, the sky growled and it went darker than it already did. She actually still wanted to go somewhere else with Tiffany since Sunny was not here anymore she thought it would be more productive to have some quality times with the black head.

But the sky was dark before the night and Tiffany’s face showed a little bit worry when she frowned to Jessica. So maybe walked back home would be fine now. She opened to speak but Tiffany cut her first.

“Let’s just walk. Your feet needs some exercise.”

“I’m not that weak.”

“Your upper body is weak already and I don’t think you want your lower body also became weak.”

Yah Tiffany Hwang, stop teasing.”

“Who tease? I’m talking the truth.”

Jessica stopped from walking, looking at Tiffany who was also stopping and looked at her back.

Jessica kicked the other girl’s shin. Hard.

And Tiffany winced; jumped up and down in one feet.

“What was that for!? That’s hurt!”

“I was just proofing that I’m not that weak!”

“Doesn’t need to kick that hard!”

“You blame me now?”

“Then blame who? The fence? Do you even eat because it feels like you use a beam to kick!”

YAH!!

Before they even knew it, droplets of rain poured down. They had no time as they were still bickering with each other and it didn’t help at all that the rain fell fast and hard.

Jessica was ready to pull Tiffany and ran to the halt when she felt something draped onto her head. She looked at the side and saw Tiffany only with her tank top and her jacket was on Jessica. Despite how hard the rain was and Jessica was sure it was very cold to just wore tank top and jeans, Tiffany flashed her smile before she dragged her and ran their life’s out to their dorm.

She didn’t want the day ended fast when it’s just the two of them. But Jessica thought it was okay now.

***

Sunny was sitting alone at the backyard of their university, the one where they usually eat together during break. Jessica still had class until 15 more minutes and Tiffany said she will be there soon. So Sunny just sat alone there, trying to figure out a novel she didn’t know what about because her friend said she had to read it and wrote it back for their assignment.

She was so occupied with the book she was holding until someone came and laid down on her lap. Hugging her waist and buried the face on her tummy. Sunny looked down to where black hair sprawled all over her lap. She smiled and caressed the head, combing the hair and running her finger through soft black locks.

Tiffany felt warm, very warm it almost hot and Sunny couldn’t help but drew her attention back to the girl on her lap.

“Aww big baby, why are you still coming to class?”

The girl mumbled a reply but Sunny can’t tell what she was saying, so she just patted the head.

“Silly.”

Tiffany was never a deep sleeper or the fast one, but then when the hand around Sunny’s waist tightened, the small girl realized when Tiffany was sick, she slept so fast. Sunny leaned down and kissed her temple.

“Get well soon.”

There, not so far, Jessica stood looking at the scene before her unmoving. The lump in and the burning feelings on her chest was so suffocating. Nevertheless, she walked slowly to where Sunny and Tiffany at, collecting her self control as she did. Then she sat beside her, eyes locked to the black head.

“I think she catch a fever.” A frown made its way to Sunny’s face. “She sleeps at place like this.”

Jessica glanced at Sunny before she run her hand to Tiffany’s forehead and frown deeply at herself. She then sat in front of them, hands still on the girl’s sweaty forehead.

“She was only on her tank top yesterday.”

Without waiting any reply from Sunny, Jessica grabbed the other girl’s arms and helped her to stand on her feet. Tiffany’s eyes open just a little bit and she sighed, wanted to protested that she was okay and could stood up by herself.

“Let’s go home.”

“You still have class.” The girl on her grip mumbled out but all Jessica could think was just Tiffany. Screw class.

She was thinking what her mom would do when she got sick. Put on wet towel on her forehead; Jessica looked back to where Tiffany was sleeping on her bed with wet towel on her forehead (check), went to the doctor; Tiffany refuse to go to the doctor and she said it was just a light fever and she said she might get over it soon, make porridge? But Jessica was a very bad cook and she might end up burned the kitchen.

But Tiffany needed something to eat before she took her medicine.

Wait, she didn’t have any medicine yet.

“Tiffany, do you have allergy in some med? I’m gonna go out buying some for you.”

Jessica was rushed, grabbing things before she looked over at Tiffany whose eyes opened just a bit and shook her head. Then she dashed out the room and go to the pharmacy, telling Tiffany to stay still and called her if she needed anything. The girl just hummed a reply.

It took her 15 minutes until she rushed back to Tiffany’s room ― she kept glancing at her phone every other second just in case Tiffany called her and she missed it ― and frantically checked the lump on the bed. Just to make sure Tiffany was still there. She released a relief sighs when the girl greeted her with weak smile. She smiled back then went to the kitchen.

“Okay… how to start this…”

“Don’t…” a sighs. Jessica looked at her over her shoulder. “Don’t burn my kitchen down.”

The younger girl rolled her eyes as she looked back to the things at the kitchen.

Jessica browsed through her phone, found a recipe to make porridge then started to collect the ingredients one by one. She wasn’t really sure that she got it right but whatever, she thought, those ingredients she took from Tiffany’s fridge looked the same like those on the internet.

The porridge served, on a bowl, still having the steam dancing above the hot food, and to Tiffany’s surprise, it smelled good. Maybe Jessica could cook, maybe she wasn’t that bad after all.

She helped Tiffany leaned on the head board, and handed her the food once the other girl comfy enough.

“Thanks.” Tiffany said in husky voice.

The black head spooned the porridge and Jessica held her breath. She watched almost in horror when Tiffany pushed the spoon inside of and chewed for a moment before she swallowed it and spooned another mouthful. The girl didn’t make any weird facial expression so Jessica thought it was good enough. Maybe?

“How is it?” She was hopeful.

“Hot.” Tiffany answered shortly.

“The taste. Duh. Is it taste okay?”

Tiffany just ate.

“Really?”

Jessica swallowed her own saliva and walked to the kitchen to grab a spoon. She then, without thinking, took a mouthful of her own porridge.

And spat it out as soon as she took it in .

“You actually can eat this?? How come you can eat this thing??”

The older girl gave Jessica the now empty bowl and closed her eyes as she started to find a comfortable position to sleep.

“Coz you’re the one who made it.” She said half sober.

Tiffany missed how Jessica’s face turned all red, how her eyes lingered for God knows how long on the other girl. She missed how Jessica smiled sweetly after that with that twinkling eyes.

Collected herself, Jessica took the water from the table and some medicine then nudged Tiffany’s ribs.

“Medicine, Tiff.” She said as she started to nudge Tiffany to get up.

“Ugh don’t want.”

There Tiffany closed her eyes again, hiding behind her blanket. Way to be a mature girl.

“Really? I bought you meds, running, and worrying and now you don’t want to take them?”

“No.” the girl mumbled.

“I never run, Tiff!”

“No one tell you to.”

Jessica face palmed. Annoyed level became tenfold by Tiffany’s sudden childish act. Who was she kidding really. She rolled her eyes, pulled the blanket from Tiffany, bore a hole on Tiffany’s eyes if it was even possible.

“Med.” She said flatly.

“No, Jessica.” She replied with the same tone.

“Geez what are you? A kid? A princess? Get up and take them!”

“I’m not a princess, you are, I’m just an awesome person”. Tiffany swatted the younger girl’s hand that was about to take a hold of her arm and then she almost knocked Jessica on her head.

Jessica glared at her.

“Awesome person my , you’re simply a helpless sick girl now.”

She then ducked under Tiffany’s flying hands and got a grip of the girl’s body and forced her to sit upright but it was draining her energy despite how weak Tiffany was at the moment, the girl still had this strength to escaped Jessica’s grip and rolled over the bed to the corner.

Jessica scoffed.

“Really!?”

“What I wasn’t joking!”

“Med isn’t that bad!”

“It is bitter!!”

“No it is―”

“You never had one or what?? Your upper body is weak there’s no way you never had one.”

“HEY!”

“Go away I don’t want the meds!”

She huff a breath. She never knew Tiffany was an anti-medicine. It wasn’t that bad right, the medicines. All you need to do was to swallow it and it won’t leave a bitter taste in your mouth. Besides, Jessica bought Tiffany the syrup one just in case. But since Tiffany was playing so-hard-to-get she would prefer chocking the girl with the pills instead.

“Take it or―”

“Or what?” Tiffany challenged even with her current condition she was still one big .

“Or I’m gonna feed you,” a pause. “With my own mouth.”

A gulp made it to Tiffany’s throat. What was with the threat Jessica thought she could win over her. But when she thought about it, she guessed that the younger girl lost some screws on her head but it made her nervous and her head spinning a little bit when she stared at the girl anyway.

“Try me.”

The girl crawled up the bed, so painfully slow as if she was teasing the girl though Tiffany knew Jessica didn’t do it on purpose. She even bet that Jessica didn’t realize she was crawling oh too painfully slow and endearing that made her held her breath.

She watched as Jessica took out a pill and placed it in between her lips. She was now just centimeters away from Tiffany and the older girl couldn’t help but looking at Jessica’s lips. When the other girl stared at her, scooted closer to her, Tiffany forgot how to breathe.

Close…

Closer…

So close…

Almost ther―

“Okay okay fine, I’ll drink it myself.” She said taking the pill from between Jessica’s lips and grabbed the glass on Jessica’s hand that she barely noticed until now. Jessica smiled ― more like smirking ― in a mock victory.

“Good girl.” She said patting Tiffany’s head (despite how red her face is at the moment).

So she helped the older girl taking her medicines and gave her another glass of water a moment later. Jessica put the glass on the kitchen table before she went back to Tiffany and saw the girl already asleep. She must be very sick.

She looked at the peaceful face for another moment, somehow cherished her time she spent taking care of Tiffany today. She didn’t realize that she cared a lot for the girl, she didn’t know that worrying over someone sick would be very suffocating.

Jessica cared too much she was afraid of losing the girl, again. But she didn’t wanna lose her now, not ever. And she leaned down until her lips met Tiffany’s warm forehead, she let her lips lingered there for a while before she pulled back and got up to the couch when a hand stopped her.

She was startled when eyes met Tiffany’s heavy one.

“Can I ask you a favor?”

“W-what?”

“Sleep beside me.”

It was as if her body move by itself when she nodded and slipped herself under the blanket beside Tiffany. And when she heard Tiffany’s weak voice for the second time she couldn’t help but looked at her.

“Can I ask you one more thing?”

Jessica didn’t answer but the older girl took it as a yes.

“Can I hold you to sleep?”

Her face was so freaking hot and she couldn’t help that she smiled shyly at the innocent question despite Tiffany was intensely staring at her. Jessica nodded and ducked her face when arm circled her waist and head nuzzled to her neck.

Tiffany pulling her closer to the point Jessica can feel the girl’s almost hot body and even hearing her heart beat. It was a little bit fast but it was okay, she thought. She pulled the blanket until it reached their shoulder and she never liked it when it is so warm, she hates being sweaty.

But this was Tiffany, and she knew she’ll be fine even if she had to be drenched in sweat. Beside that it wasn’t like Tiffany will be this clingy everytime, part of her is amused that Tiffany being this clingy to her today, the other part just wanted to savor the moment her moment with Tiffany just two of them no one else. Or basically it was just her turn to take a good care of Tiffany when the latter needs someone, just like what the later always did to her before. The time she was trying to get back, to have her Tiffany again.
