Meet the Cops

Don't Try To Solve This

Siwon met up at work, feeling happy and he had had a great morning. Even though the traffic had been a real mess, and that he had stopped with every traffic light there had been on the way, he still felt like it had been a good morning. He had sung in his car on his way to work, and he didn’t even hunk the horn to make the traffic move. Not even one annoyed wrinkle in his forehead. Nothing could ruin his day. When he entered the office he was met with a delightful smile from the secretary ShinDong who always seemed to be happy with almost everything. On a normal day of work he used to smile whenever one of the employees walked by or talked to him. Because they all were above him, and he was the lowest in the office, he had to stand up and bow to them when they entered. Siwon couldn’t tell him enough times that he should just keep sitting by his desk, but ShinDong kept doing it, so Siwon stopped telling him to do otherwise. He was very kind, ShinDong, and very polite, so why ruin his day with saying that he shouldn’t be?

Siwon moved across the room and towards his boss, HanGeng, who was in the middle of a conversation on the phone. When he saw Siwon, he bid his goodbyes with whoever he spoke with and hung up.

“Good morning officer Siwon.” HanGeng said with a small smile. HanGeng didn’t use to smile so much, except for really good occasions when he simple couldn’t resist doing it. Siwon sometimes thought that he just kept it back, so he wouldn’t reveal himself too much.

“Good morning boss. Here’s the Thursday report.” Siwon said and bowed for him, before he handed him some paper. HanGeng sighed, but took them.

“Don’t you just hate paperwork?” HanGeng asked mumbling, not expecting an answer from his officer, and Siwon also choose not to answer. He didn’t really know what to answer to that question, because he didn’t hate it. Right now at least. Sometimes it seemed to be too much of that. Loss of time to say it correctly, and half of the time it wasn’t really interesting.

They heard the door open and close. The other officer that worked with Siwon as a partner came in and gave ShinDong the normal smile, while ShinDong flew in the air to greet him with a bow.  KangIn walked over to HanGeng and Siwon, to greet them both with a bow. As well as Siwon, KangIn handed over some papers to HanGeng. Once he had it in his hands, he sighed. He mumbled something that no one of them could hear. So they just decided not to answer, that always seemed to be the best solution for all of them.

HanGeng wasn’t a person who was normally so annoyed, but to read on his face, he had had a bad night. Sometimes he didn’t sleep well, and then he became annoyed. But this time, Siwon said to himself, that he wouldn’t let his mood be ruined by HanGeng’s bad night.

KangIn looked around and walked to the coffee machine and poured himself a cup.

“Hey KangIn, can you get me a cup?” Siwon asked with a smiled and looked at him. KangIn nodded and poured another cup. To be friendly he made two more, and gave ShinDong one, which made him jump up and greet him with a bow while he took the coffee cup. KangIn couldn’t help but smile very slightly, before walking back to the machine, taking the other two cups, and giving them to Siwon and HanGeng, they both thanked him for doing it, and HanGeng really appreciated it, even though he didn’t show it too much, other than his thanks.

Then KangIn turned around and walked back to take his own coffee, and sat by his desk, throwing his feet up on the table, to Siwon’s joy because he couldn’t help but laugh at his move.

“You act like it’s your home everywhere.” Siwon laughed at him, very slightly but he couldn’t help it. It just looked so funny.

“Of course! Why shouldn’t I? My feet on the table don’t bother anyone. Does it?” KangIn asked with a joking smile. He always enjoyed fun at work. HanGeng looked at his feet on the table, he couldn’t resist thinking that the bottom of his shoes was very clean. Siwon watched the TV screen across the room, some reporters were out by a burning building and talked about how it started and when, so on. HanGeng followed Siwon’s look and sighed once again.

“Don’t let anybody die. I don’t feel like investigate right now.” HanGeng mumbled, and looked away. The reporter told shortly after that there were no one in the building, and that they all had been out when it started. Though no one knew how the fire starter, or what had coursed the small explosion that had been coursing the quick spreading of the fire. There were no witnesses and the family had been informed of the accident, as they believed it was.

HanGeng turned off the TV to Siwon’s disappointment. He always found it rather interesting to see the news, especially with the job he had. They weren’t just normal cops, who drove around and stopped people there had been stealing or whatever. Those three were the once who tried to find the people who did murders. They didn’t investigate the crime, or the body. That they had people to do for them, but when they had done some work and could tell the three of them about it, well also their secretary, then they could start their work and hopefully get the killers behind bars.

“How can it be that there is nothing going on right now? We use to be really busy all the time… When did killers begin to take breaks?” KangIn said. Siwon pulled his shoulders and HanGeng almost shot fire with his eyes.

“So you say that you want to have work to do, so the killers can just kill as they want so you can have something to do? Well then… Get another job, I think that the burger bar around the corner has a spot for you.” HanGeng said annoyed. KangIn looked at him with a disbelieved look on his face, before he could answer.

“Hey! I didn’t mean it like that. Calm down. Just because you had a bad morning or night, whatever, so don’t let it harm us. I didn’t say I was bored. I just thought that it was way to quiet to be real. Relax buddy. “ KangIn said and looked annoyed at him. Sometimes those two really could piss each other off. HanGeng looked at him and they could see that he was about to explode, but Siwon spoke up before HanGeng could do so.

“Oh, well, I saw a really good movie last night. I can’t remember what the name was… But it was good and there was a lot of action in it. I think it’s something you would like.” Siwon hurried saying. HanGeng lost the anger, and chose just to keep calm and shut up. After Siwon’s talk it would be very inappropriate, if he turned the discussion back on. KangIn also sat with some inner anger against HanGeng, but also kept it inside of him.

It’s been a while since the discussion between KangIn and HanGeng, so the atmosphere became better. Siwon was still smiling bright, and his mood really weren’t going down, nothing could ruin this amazing day. He was happy with the non existing work, and that he could make the time go with chatting with the others. Even ShinDong hadn’t much to do, even though a few phone calls had to be taken. It was one of the calmest days in a very long time. The office was influenced with the calmness and peace that in some way were refreshing. Siwon had actually gotten KangIn to laugh some times, and even HanGeng had made small twitch in the corners of his mouth, but tried not to smile too much, or laugh at all. But he couldn’t resist thinking that Siwon could be funny. ShinDong used most of the time this day to chat with the others, though still from his desk, so he didn’t miss anything, if something should happen.

After a whole day at work, with nothing happening, at all, they decided to go home. Siwon and KangIn bowed and said goodbye, after which they left the office. ShinDong packed his stuff and was also about to leave, when he saw HanGeng still sitting by his desk. ShinDong slowly approached the desk, and HanGeng looked up from his paperwork.

“Yes?” HanGeng asked when he saw ShinDong standing a bit away from him. ShinDong smiled weakly at him.

“Aren’t you going home?” ShinDong asked slowly. HanGeng shook his head.

“I’m staying a little, but you can go, I will shut the lights and so on. I know how I do, don’t worry.” HanGeng said with a comfortable voice, which made ShinDong a bit more relaxed.

“Okay, then I’ll go now. Have a good day boss.” ShinDong said with a bigger smile than before.

“Yes. Yes you too, and say hallo to your kid for me. I guess he have grown a lot, hmm?” HanGeng asked politely and ShinDong nodded.

“Yes he is. Well, I guess you haven’t seen him for about a year or two?” ShinDong answered, and looked thoughtful.

“No, I haven’t. It’s two years ago, back in May, where I visited your house and he came back from… School? I guess.” HanGeng said, a slight twitch came in the corner of his mouth. ShinDong nodded.

“Yes, that must have been around that time. But he lives with his mother now. I only see him once in a while. Unfortunately.” ShinDong said and the last word was just a mumble.

“Mm. I hope for you to see him soon. But you can go, and remember to say hello from me to your son. I hope he’s well.” HanGeng said and ShinDong could see a hint of a smile on his face. ShinDong nodded and made a low bow.

“Yes I will. Have a nice day boss. See you tomorrow.” ShinDong said, bowed again and left the office.

HanGeng made a deep sigh, and looked around in the room. So quiet that it was hard to maintain sanity. He lifted his pen and continued with the paperwork for a few more minutes. Until he gave up, and realized that he couldn’t concentrate in this silence. Normally he preferred silence to noise when he did his work, but right now there was too quiet. Maybe KangIn had been right after all. It really was too quiet, way too quiet.

Chapter 15: i'm just here to read the TeukChul part...for now. maybe i'll read from the start when i have more free time. well, i'm pretty sure i will if you don't break TeukChul up. LoL
i totally love TeukChul and no matter how sick and evil Teukie is in this story, i don't want Heechul to leave him. especially not to go to someone else. and if that someone happens to be Hangeng (as i see his name is tagged and notice that he's a cop from this chapter) i will seriously flip and throw things.

about the violence part, ugh, i don't actually enjoy it but you're writing it finely; everything in the 2 chapters i read is great, actually. good job. :)
