chapter 25 :

my other half (part 1)

taeyeon’s pov

“achooooo” I sneeze
aish I’m sick !!
but I still went to school
not  wanting others to suspect
many students saw me with fany yesterday
unfortunately it rains
and plus I don’t want tiffany to know that I’m the one who sent her to the hospital

I bet right now yulsic were interrogating fany
and after they knew I’m with fany that night
they might asked sooyoung and sunny if I’m absent or not
I need to be careful but I’m sneezing from time to time
I can’t focus to the lesson either so I’m just taking notes

I always use pencil when I can’t focus
it’s actually a habit anyway when I’m writing or doing some sketch

our class right now is biology
so yeah definitions again
to be specific our lesson was about kingdom protista

they were divided into three
but since were done with plant like protist (one of the classification)
protists which share some similarities in plants

I wrote animal like which is the next one
I was busy and too focus as I listened carefully
and at the same time I’m jutting every important words and definitions
that we need to remember and understand.

the sharpened part of my pencil suddenly broke and leave a mark on my paper making it look messy

I sighed as I scratch the back of my head

I quickly search for my pencil case

“there, bingo!” I mumbled as I manage to get my pencil case from my bag

I ped it and get my eraser
as I’m done cleaning my messy work
I saw something written on my eraser
I just then noticed that it was break into half

half? But where’s other half

I looked and examined it as I realized the word was “연”

“yeon?”   

I unconsciously stared at it intensely
as images flooding inside my head
I groaned quietly
I closed my eyes as I tried to hold the pain I’m receiving
images continued to appear

“because I’m your other half” I heard someone said

“aahh…” I hold onto my table
as I tried to focus on what I was seeing right now

and this is what I saw

-----flashback-----

grade 1 :

”I heard there’s a new student going to transfer”  yuri said to me

but I’m not interested
”yah!! Taengoo! say something?!” yuri was still talking about it and aish! I don’t care
”whatever! Mind your own business kkabyul” I said as I push her chair far away from me
I heard her groaned but I ignore it. She knows when I’m having a bad mood. 
apparently I really had a bad morning
it’s my oppa’s fault he broke my favorite gameboy!

anyway after a few minutes our teacher walks in
and there’s someone behind her

might be the transferee I thought

”good morning teacher” we greeted our adviser
and she replied “okay class you can sit down and good morning too”

“but I want you to meet a new friend” she said as she gestured the transferee
to step forward and introduce herself

”a-anyeonhaseyo tiffany imnida I hope we can be friends” she said in a cheerful tone
and smiled but as her lips moves upward her eyes were turning into a crescent moon shape
I was stunned and amazed
”she’s pretty”  I unknowingly mumbled
then I saw her walking towards my direction
I gulped

”is there someone sitting here?” she asks politely
this snaps me back to reality
”no one” as I smiled to her
then I felt someone stepped on my feet

I looked down I caught a sight of a familiar shoes
”kkabyul” I muttered and turned at her

giving her a look –why did you do that-
she just replied with this look –tsk! I thought you’re not interested-
we continued our glaring contest
but an angelic voice stopped us from sending deadly stares to one another

”uhmm is there a problem?” she asked
I shook my head as I violently pulled my right foot away and kkabyul did the same too

being a grade 1 student you still need to learn many things
we tried to improve our comprehension and diction as early as possible
after that we practiced to write

I accidentally hear something broke
I turn to my left and saw ‘tiffany’
looking for something inside her pink pencil case
she pouted after a few seconds
I think she didn’t find what she needed

I then saw my eraser and cut it into two
I gave her the other half
she looked at me for a moment

”you need this right?, here” I said as I put the eraser on her table
she then smiled afterwards
I tried to act I didn’t saw her smile

after using it
she was about to give it back to me
but then she look at it for a moment and tilted her head
it’s like she’s trying to read something

she nudge me

”gomawo tae-tae” she said as she beam an eyesmile at me

tae-tae? What’s that?

”uhmm tae-tae?” I asked and tilted my head
she then looked again at the eraser

”I know it’s tae..” she’s mumbling somewhat like that
”isn’t tae-tae is your name?” she asked as she showed my eraser’s other half
there’s tae written on it
”but I apologize if it’s not because I’m not really good in Korean” she tried to reason out and apologize
I saw her pouted and looked down

I quickly said
”a-anniyo it’s taeyeon actually b-but since err.. uhmm it’s okay anyway you can call me that” I said as I scratch the back of my head

I don’t want to see her sad so I allowed her to call me tae-tae
she looked up and smiled once again

I’m gonna melt if she didn’t stop from doing this

”gomawo tae-tae” she said as she handed my eraser’s other half to me

”uhh.. no it’s yours” I said as I waved my hand s at her
”but-“ I cut her sentence off as I showed her my other eraser’s half and there’s the ‘yeon’ on it.

”it’s yours now, I still have the other half anyway” I said and smiled
I quickly turned at the blackboard to jut down notes again

I unconsciously smile throughout the day

----------------flashback ended-------------

I groaned so that’s why ..

eraser?

then there’s still some blurred images popping out in my head
I tried to make it stop but it won’t
why? Why? I remembered enough to make me hate tiffany
but what’s this !
it’s confusing me
first, the rain and the umbrella
second, this one the eraser

’maybe somehow it will help me to figure things out' i said to myself

as I let my mind processed everything
to show me another flashback again
