chapter 22 :

at least I still have her

taeyeon’s pov

I run as fast as I can
and look at every corner..

where does tiffany hide??
where is she??

“tiffany !” I shouted as I ran

“tiffany..please come out”  I don’t know but I felt like
she’s still not home

it’s already 6pm..
2 hours  .. I don’t know what can happen to her..
she doesn’t have her umbrella ..
she might be freezing to death now..

“tiffany” I look back and forth..
to check if she’s there.

heck, I even ask every people I saw

I’m really worried
gosh.. what am I going to do !

Idiot tiffany !! idiot !!

every step I made ..
her words keep on repeating in my mind


“tae-tae how many times i told you, you're not alone.. i'm with you, okaY? i'm not going to leave you"
you told me we’re going to run in the rain together !!
do you even know the meaning of together ???!!!

babo !! I won’t forgive myself if something bad happens to you .. !!
you’re not going to leave me again that easy !!

I can feel tears running down my cheeks..
I cried unknowingly
it’s just like a raindrop anyway..

that’s why I really like rain..
no one can guess .. when I’m crying or sad..
that I’m BROKEN ..

I can't risk my heart again..it might just shatter into pieces and cannot be fixed

I gulped as the time continues and still I can’t find fany..

people see me as perfect..
perfect ?? no, not really

perfect means I have everything but sad to say …

there’s still thing I can’t have nor to find it ..

and that thing was HAPPINESS and LOVE..

I can’t have both of them.. I tried but fate won’t allow me.. I guess

now I’m just a person who’s full of hatred and anger..

I’m not the same person before..
I’m not !! I’m really not  ..

and I don’t know if I can still be.. I’m not sure

seriously, I don’t know what do I need
to bring it back .. I really don’t know ..
 

I don’t know why I just can’t forgive her !
I really don’t know if the truth will really help me..
if what I’m doing right now …will end up to clear everything or just make it worse ?

I don’t know what can help..

then I felt something I stepped on
it’s a pink bag ..

pink?!

“steph” I mumbled

I turned my head left and right
then I found a waiting shed
just then my eyes widened

“tiffany!!” I shouted

I saw tiffany lying on the ground.. UNCONSCIOUS

I hurriedly run towards her
I immediately.. grab her wrist .. and check her pulse

what the hell !! it’s weak..
she really looks pale !!

I tried to get a cab

I was just about to open the cab’s door
but believe me or not
the driver just sped away

I tried again this time it stop

“ahjussi can you take us to the nearest hospital? please”  I said
“I’m really sorry.. but just tried another again.. the rain was really heavy I’m sorry.. we’re going to get stuck”

“ah.. arasso” I bowed politely..


all the vehicle was just passing by ..
I tried to call a cab but they don’t care..
they just sped off away..

I looked at tiffany again
and check her..  her pulse was still weak and I bet her temperature increases.. she’s really hot ..

I can’t think properly ..
when I saw a vehicle

I immediately jump on the road and spread my arms..
I don’t care what might happen

luckily it stopped !

the driver yelled at me !!

“what do you think are you doing?! you’re to kill yourself” the driver said
“I’m sorry ahjussi.. my friend needs to be send in the hospital.. mianhe..please can you?” I asked more like pleaded

“a.. arasso. Get  your friend and hop on now..” the driver said in a soft tone
“gomawo.. ahjussi gomawo..” I said as I bowed at him politely
I sigh in relief.. I look at tiffany and hurriedly carry her ..
I smiled … it’s not just a simple one but I know something that I didn’t do for the past 4 years..

don’t worry fany you’ll be okay..

just hang on..
it was really embarrassing though ..
that we’re both soaked wet.. so of course ahjussi’s cab too will be

“mianheyo ahjussi” I said as i placed tiffany’s head and rest it on my lap
I hold tiffany’s hand she’s so cold and her body was still shaking
just hold on please.. we’re near..

I silently prayed as I hold her hand even tighter ..

“what are you two doing in the rain? You even stayed this late?”the driver asked
“ahjussi actually… we walked home together but she just suddenly collapsed” I said
as I turned to the driver

“aa.. you know what you must bring your umbrellas.. just in case it rains or it was too sunny..” the driver advised “aa.. dae ahjussi it’s kinda my fault” I said while looking down

“no, it’s not your fault.. maybe her body didn’t handle it so she just collapsed.. it was like accident or incident that no one wants that to happen, especially she’s important for you.. isn’t she?”

it kinda echoes in my head – important --  ?
is she important for me ?
I look on her
are you really important? I asked to myself 

then I heard the driver chuckled “of course she’s your friend” he mumbled
“aa.. dae she’s my friend” I said
then the car stopped

“aa.. ahjussi can you wait? Please” I pleaded
“no problem I can return you home anyway” he said
“gomawo” I bowed again

before I carried tiffany and go out of the cab

I can feel tiffany’s breathing became weak again ..
tiffany please hold on.. i  silently prayed

I quickly for a nurse or a doctor

“excuse me where I can put her..” I said while breathing heavily
then the nurse rushed towards me with a bed
“here, put her down” the nurse commanded
as I laid fany down ..
the doctor asked me “how long did she stay in the rain?”
“aa..sir uhmm 2 ½ hours something like that ..”
“okay then you can go to the counter and call any of her family member or a friend”

with that they went inside a room ..

I don’t know what’s happening inside
but I did what the doctor told me

I went to the counter ..
I’m sure her father is on a business trip
who I can call ?? !

then something vibrated in tiffany’s pink bag
I hurriedly opened it
and saw jessica’s messages

right !! Jessica !!

I quickly asked the nurse a favor to call in that number (jessica’s number)
jessica must not know I’m with tiffany.. she’s pretty good in recognizing voices ..
so I must be careful

“is this miss jessica jung?” this snaps me back to reality
the nurse looked at me .. she mouthed – it’s Jessica jung – and I nod
“yes.. may I know who’s this?” jessica replied
then I wrote on a paper – this is from seoul gen. hospital your friend miss tiffany hwang was here.. a taxi driver found her lying on the ground unconscious -

“this is from seoul gen. hospital your friend miss tiffany hwang was here.. a taxi driver found her lying on the ground unconscious” the nurse
“what?!!” jessica exclaimed .. oh poor nurse .. jessica’s so loud !! aisshh
“aa..ok I’m going there thanks” with that both jessica and nurse hang up

“gomawo..” I said to the nurse
“here’s the payment for miss hwang’s hospital bills.. and please just tell them.. a taxi driver is the one who helped miss hwang.. thank you again” I said as I handed the money to her..

“ can you give her a private room.. here’s the additional” I said

I sit as I wait for jessica’s arrival
I want to know if I’m right jessica’s also involved … and ..

then suddenly I heard heavy footsteps
I quickly looked down to cover my face and went to the restroom

I saw two familiar figures walking hand in hand

it’s jessica and yuri ..
I look at them intensely
worrying and panicking can be seen in them ..
then tiffany’s room suddenly bursts opened revealing the doctor who talked to me earlier

“excuse me who is miss hwang’s relative here?”
“doc, me but I’m just her best friend.. how’s she” jessica said
“uhmm okay.. but let’s go inside first and I will explain” the doctor said as he guided yuri and jessica in other room..

I smirked suddenly

these two can be an actress

acting that you don’t know each other .. great, really great
I chuckled silently.. yulsic ! do you think I didn’t know you..

then I frowned and clenched my fist really tight ..
I’m going to let it slip for now.. just wait .. I’m going to make all of you confess and apologize!

I walked out from the hospital .. the rain didn’t stop ..
 I smiled “ahjussi still wait for me” I quickly opened the cab door

and immediately bowed to the driver “kansahamnida ahjussi”
mr. ahjussi just laughed wholeheartedly “of course I promised to wait, didn’t i?”
“oh by the way what happened to your friend why did you leave her?” ahjussi asked
“aa.. her family was already in there.. I called them” I lied
“okay then..” ahjussi said as he stepped on the accelerator and the car starts to move

the ride was really quiet .. my thoughts were floating in my mind still waiting for an answers ..
I looked out the window .. the stars and the moon were still visible .
I took a deep breath and exhaled .. everything has an end.. anyway.. you just need to be patient ..
every question there’s an answer .. right! I must not give up

then suddenly something fall on the floor
I pick it up  -oh the umbrella- I thought

I smiled upon seeing this object  “at least I still have her and I didn’t lose her” I mumbled quietly …
as I tightened my grip on the umbrella..

I leaned head towards the windows ..  I slowly closed my eyes ..
I put my hand on my chest.. it’s been 4 years since I’ve felt something like this..    
it felt so right
