Like Water- Wendy 

Their eventual win at Regionals was a shock to exactly no one considering how much effort Taeyeon and Tiffany had put in to prepare the group. It was something truly outstanding to them all to walk away from a wedding and into the spotlight of a Regional championship. But here Irene was staring at their winning trophy in the glee club room. She had thought it was bigger than what it was, considering the importance that the particular competition they won that trophy held, but beside their brand new National trophy, it could help but look tiny. 

“Admiring my trophy case little sister?” Irene rolled her eyes at the teasing tone of Taeyeon, now sporting blonde locks and a giant grin. Her wedding band gleamed in the light of the room, almost as bright and shiny as the trophy in the case.  

“You mean the trophy I helped you win?” Irene teased back. 

“I do believe that your knight in shining armor had everything to do with that,” Taeyeon swiftly reminded her. The thought of said knight did send a flutter of butterflies throughout Irene. “Where is Son anyway? I thought she’d be the first person in this room.” 

“Jessica and Yuri said that they were on their way 10 minutes ago, so I am hoping soon.” 

“Miss her?” Taeyeon asked with genuine curiosity. 

“Like you couldn’t imagine.” Irene sighed. It had been a shamble of a summer vacation, as Wendy had all but been coerced into traveling overseas to see Yuri’s family, who had lost their grandmother. It was a sad but necessary trip that the Kwon-Jung-Son trio made, leaving Irene to spend her summer days with Yeri Seulgi Joy and her sisters. Even Sin B had decided to pop in for a week or two. “I feel like I haven’t seen her in ages, just Facetime calls for the past three months.” 

“Imagine six years,” Taeyeon snorted. Irene couldn’t help the soft sad smile that crossed her face at her sister’s joke, “You know I am kidding, I’ve got her here now don’t I?” 

“And with a daughter no less,” Irene reminded her. Taeyeon couldn’t help the proud smile that plastered her face at the thought of her adopted daughter. Yeri was a beaming source of happiness for Taeyeon and Tiffany, and oddly a perfect mix of the two women. She held Tiffany’s adoration of  the dramatics of life, whether it be musicals or general theatrics, but also carried with her Taeyeon’s mischievous traits. The girl was basically hand crafted by the two. 

“She’s a whip that one,” Taeyeon jokes. “And so smart, my kid is a genius.” 

“I am pretty sure she asked for my History notes every day last year,” Irene deadpanned. 

“Okay but she skipped a grade. Young Yeri is going to be nuanced. A one of a kind Kim.” Taeyeon boasted. 

“Until she becomes a Kang that is,” Irene mentioned. She could see Taeyeon’s eyes thin as she glared at the girl. “You know that she has a crush on Seulgi. And Seul is going to put it together.” 

“So you are saying that Kang is my new nemesis.” Taeyeon muttered. “Son will be pleased to have the target off her back.”
