Yejin!
Oh, Brother!Yejin was the only daughter to a single mother that lived in the US. She was born in Korea and then moved to New York since her father was a Korean-American. Her dad left the family when she was 15 years old due to an accident. Her mom was a happy woman when her husband was still by her side. But when he was not around anymore, her mother started to change bit by bit. She was diagnosed with depression.
Even though her mom did not tell her, Yejin was quick to notice. She would always remind her mother about moving on and find new happiness. She kept convincing her mother that everything was fine, not knowing that she actually needed to be comforted as well. Yejin then thought of an idea to help her mom and herself. She suggested to move back to Korea since their relatives were there, although they weren’t that much of a help. Her mom agreed upon hearing her suggestion.
It was Yejin’s last year in high school when they finally decided to move, so they waited until graduation. On the last day, Yejin’s friend threw a farewell party. Meanwhile, Yejin started her college career once they arrived. She did not waste any time to lazy-around. First year of college was fine. She found a friend that she would consider her close friend, Eunmi. They hung out almost every day on freshmen year. Both of them became busy people once they started junior year since their major was professional writing.
Yejin and her mom used to hang out at night after both of them came home. But as both getting more and more busy, they stopped their mom/daughter bonding time. They were still close though. Yejin knew that her mom started dating again, which was part of her mom’s busy-ness. After meeting a boyfriend, she got to admit that her mom had gotten much better. She didn’t really care that much about who the guy was, as long as her mom was happy. After all, she needed to take care of herself first in college, and she did not have spare time to take care of her depressed mom.
On the summer vacation after junior year, that she barely passed, she went back to New York for
