Chapter Thirty Three: Of Convincing, Disappointments and Heartbreak
My Bias Texted Me"I... appa, I have something to tell you," you nervously twiddled with the ring on your finger and he looked at you expectantly before he put the documents down. "Hm, what is it, (Y/N)?"
"I..." you bit your lip and looked anywhere except your father, your throat suddenly very dry. You nervously your lips and inhaled a deep breath before you sighed quietly, "appa... I'm going to get married."
"Excuse me? What did you just say?" he stared at you in disbelief, clearly not believing what he had just heard. You quietly repeated the words and he stared at you blankly for a few moments before his eyebrows flew up, "you're getting married."
"Uh huh," you answered softly and breathed in deeply, trying not to make it obvious that you were nervous, "in almost two weeks."
"And... who is this man?" he questioned with a deep sigh of his own and you chewed nervously on your lower lip and fisted your sweaty hands slowly, "uhm, Lee Donghae."
"You mean that Lee Donghae?" he asked with wide eyes and you softly gulped, eyes trained downwards again. A hesitant nod from you had his jaw dropping in shock.
"I- yeah. We met two years ago," you muttered softly and silently prayed that he wouldn't start yelling at you. You were more surprised when he didn't shout and instead rose an eyebrow.
"He's... actually dating you?" he wondered in mild amazement and you nervously looked down, sparing him a hesitant nod of agreement. "Yeah, we are."
"So, do we get to meet this mysterious man, or...?"

Two days later, Donghae invited your parents over to a restaurant in Mokpo with his mother. The meeting went quite well and your parents liked Donghae a lot. His mother was also quite friendly and you felt like her actual daughter with the way she treated you.
It was only after you returned home from the eventful dinner did it seem that things weren't going to plan.
"(Y/N)-ah, break up with him," your father said simply after he had called you to his office. Your eyes rounded in surprise and you looked at him in disbelief, "b-but-"
"No buts, I don't want you to be with him," he stated firmly and you let out a small gasp of disbelief, "but, why? He's nice and you even said you liked him!"
"I do like him, I think he loves you a lot and I can see it too," he took in a deep breath and stared at you with a fixated blank stare, "and that is why you shouldn't be with him."
"Wh-what?!" you sputtered indignantly, jaw dropping in disbelief. "But isn't that a good thing?! Why do you want us to breakup because he loves me?!"
"(Y/N)-ah. He's a celebrity. If he has to choose between you and his career, it's obvious he'd choose you in a heartbeat. You wouldn't want to choose between Donghae and your career, would you?" he stated pointedly and it only made you more confused.
"But appa, I'd choose him too," you answered, eyebrows furrowing in confusion. You really didn't understand what he was trying to get at.
"I know you would," your father sighed and rubbed his temples with his fingertips, "you're still young, (Y/N). The dark reality of the world is something you don't know about. You want to know why your sisters moved back? They were constantly abused by their in-laws because of choosing their husbands over their careers. I don't want anything to happen to you."
"So... you're afraid I'll get abused by Donghae's family?" you questioned and he sighed again and nodded, "I know his mother is nice, but there will be people in his family who are from the older generation. They would want you to slave to him instead of love him and they won't let you out."
"But appa-" you were cut off again when your father shook his head silently, indicating that he was going to talk again. "I love you, (Y/N). Donghae is ten years older than you, remember? What if he himself is like that? Acts as a sweet boyfriend and then an abusive husband? Don't misjudge any character just because of love, my daughter."
"But-" he shook his head again and let out a small sigh, "the worst thing I can think of is that he will die before you. If that happens, you're going to be crying and in pain and it should never be like that, (Y/N)."
"Appa, death isn't predictable! I might die before him!" you frowned and he shook his head, "you two are very emotionally attached to the point it isn't healthy. I don't want you to marry him or be with him anymore. Promise me that you will breakup with him."
"What? Appa, no!" you protested, jaw dropping at his words. He gave you a pointed look and curled his hand into a tight fist while glaring at you, "don't make this hard for me, Kim (Y/N)."
"But he isn't even horrible, he's the nicest man I've ever met! I don't want to marry someone else!" you let out in a haze but it only seemed to anger your father who slapped his palm against his desk and gave you a threatening glare.
"He is someone you would throw your entire life away for! I don't care if you won't marry anyone else, but you have to breakup with him!" he blurted out and you flinched a few steps behind because you had never heard him this angry before.
"And what if I don't?" you were surprised by the stability in your voice since you were shaking in nervousness. You inhaled a deep breath and stared at him with wavering eyes, "what if I don't break up with him and marry him instead?"
Your father stared at you in disbelief for a few moments and clenched his jaw tightly. "(Y/N), break up with him or get out of this house. You will no longer be my family if you defy my wishes and go to him."
Your jaw dropped at his words and you didn't know the reason, but your eyes pooled up in tears and you suddenly felt extremely angered as well. You bit down on your lower lip and after staring at the floor, you finally raised your head to meet eyes with your father who stared back at you challengingly.
"Fine then. Goodbye appa."

"Hello, my fallen angel! What are you doing now? Did your parents agree to the wedding date?!" you bit your lip in guilt as you heard Donghae's voice come from the other side of the line. You tried to hold back a whimper when he repeated the words, but an unfortunate sob managed to pass your lips.
"Oh my gosh! (Y/N), what's wrong?!" Donghae exclaimed and you made out the sound of shuffling on his end. You murmured a quick apology to him, but it didn't seem that he was listening to you at all.
"Wait, where are you?"
Twenty minutes later, you found yourself at Donghae's house in Mokpo, head buried against his chest and his fingers running through your hair. You had just recalled the s
