The day after you received the email from Mokpo Police Station, you were left alone at home with your parents again. You wouldn't have minded at all, but Jinwoo coincidentally decided to come over for the entire day which meant that you had to tell your parents the news in his presence.

"Annyeonghaseyo, (Y/N)!" was the first greeting you received as you sleepily left your bedroom dressed in only a pair of shorts and a fleeced top that stuck to your thighs. You almost screamed from the shock when he appeared in front of your door, but stopped yourself just in time and stared at him awkwardly.

"Um, good morning," you forced a smile to your lips and stepped back in embarrassment at your state, but it seemed he wasn't bothered by it because he simply offered you his arm. "Come, eomonim made breakfast."

"Uh, eomonim?" you repeated with wide eyes, but he only grinned and tugged you by your hand to the direction of the kitchen. You didn't even have time to protest as you were pushed into an empty seat opposite your mother, Jinwoo immediately joining your side without another word.

While you all had breakfast, you were thinking of how to break the news to your parents, but words weren't forming because your mother and Jinwoo were having a silent conversation with their eyes.

"(Y/N), my daughter, do you have something to say?" your father asked with a wide smile, seemingly oblivious to the occurrence in his surroundings and you smiled weakly at him.

"Appa, I have two things to say," you smiled nervously and he nodded, gesturing you to carry on. "Um, I got an invitation from Unicef to partake in an event in Malaysia... and I got accepted in Mokpo Police Station!"

"Really?!" your father grinned broadly and his eyes widened in surprise at your announcement. Even Jinwoo had frozen in his seat and you smiled weakly at him before turning back to your father who reached over and ruffled your hair.

"Well done, (Y/N)-ah! My daughter is the best!" he laughed and you smiled at his childish antics before he hugged you suddenly. You blinked in surprise and patted his back in return while he smiled softly.

When he pulled away, you smiled at him and he patted your head again before sitting back in his seat. Everything was silent for a couple of minutes, but you were surprised suddenly when Jinwoo decided to talk.

"Eomonim, abeonim, I'd like to ask you something," he started nervously and your eyebrows flew up in question since your mother looked very relieved for some reason.

"What is it, Jinwoo?" your father asked politely with a quizzical smile and Jinwoo rubbed the back of his neck, taking you by surprise when he grabbed your hand and interlaced your fingers together.

"I'd like to ask your permission in dating (Y/N)-ah," if you had food in your mouth, you definitely would have choked by his words. What on earth?!

"Huh?" your father dropped his jaw and stared at you both in disbelief while you weren't in a much different situation. How could he suddenly blurt that out without any kind of hint at all?

"I'd like your permission to date (Y/N)-ah. I want to date your daughter," he repeated more firmly this time and you watched your father's expression stiffen slightly.

"(Y/N)-ah, are you seeing anyone right now?" your father asked bluntly and you looked between the faces of your father and Jinwoo before you slowly shook your head, "well... no, not really."

"Araseo, I'll agree with you, Jinwoo-ssi. You have my permission to date (Y/N)-ah, but you have to ask her first," he answered after a couple of minutes of silence and your eyes widened in shock, "huh?!"

"But (Y/N)-ah," your mother stated, the first words she had said to you in the day, while looking at you pointedly. "You're not seeing anyone right now, what is the problem with dating Jinwoo? He's young, rich and likes you! It's rare!"

You could feel your cheeks flame up at her words and you silently clenched your fist against your thigh, trying to remain calm. Sure she had said worse things to you, but you couldn't believe she had said all that in front of Jinwoo.

"I-I... okay... um, I'll... I'll do it."
