Rebound
Secret Admirer
"Don't. ask."
"I wasn't gonna say anything," Lance laughed.
It's been a few days, and Lance asked me to have lunch with him at the cafeteria. So, yeah, for those thinking it's a date, it's not. I already rejected him, and he respects my decision.
"You two fought," he guessed.
I nodded, "About you."
"And... you haven't been talking."
I shook my head, "He thought I was entertaining you."
"Well, yeah, you're pretty funny," he chuckled.
I glared at him, "Excuse me?"
He started laughing, again. "You are, but no, certainly not in the way he thinks. You pointedly rejected me, remember?"
"I do, and that's the last thing I told him, along with telling him I should be an easy girl since that's what he thinks of me," I frowned.
"Ouch," he hissed, "Way to scold the girl he likes," he tutted.
"Girl he likes? Who?" I looked at Lance. He gave me a pointed duh-are-you-seriously-asking-me-that look. "Me?!"
"Who else? There's no one else here who talks to the guy on Twitter, _________," he chuckled.
"If he does like me, he wouldn't have said that," I retorted.
"Well, I'm pretty sure that if I was him -- suddenly finding out that the girl I like received a confession from some random dude when he's lots of miles away -- I would've reacted rashly like that."
"Would you call the girl 'easy'?"
He thought about it for a bit. "No, probably not," he shrugged.
"Exactly my point!"
"So..." he suddenly looked at me all serious, "should I act as the rebound boyfriend now?"
...
Silence...
...
"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!" The two of us found ourselves laughing so hard.
"Oh, that was funny," he breathed, wiping the tears.
"Good joke, good joke," I laughed some more. Oh, laughing felt good.
"I can't believe I can make fun of myself for asking that to the girl I like," he chuckled.
"You gotta admit though: that was funny," I grinned.
"Anyway, I think he likes you, and he's jealous. Period," he brought back the topic.
"And I think he doesn't. Period," I looked at him pointedly.
"I'm a guy, _________. I should know what he's thinking."
"Whatever," I shrugged. "I still don't believe you."
"Girls," he tutted. "Such difficult creatures."
"HEY!" "Alright, alright, come on. Let's buy lunch."
So yeah, the day continued to pass. I'm feeling kinda better, but I still don't wanna look at my DMs. I already checked my Twitter, and I saw a blue light signalling a new DM, but I, well, I just don't wanna look at it yet. I'm scared, to be honest. I don't know how to react, regardless of what he says.
So that's how I found myself as I was walking to the bus stop: thinking about the situation.
And that's when I saw this overly familiar yet scary-looking van, which just happened to stop right in front on me.
And when the door opened...
HOLY .
