Friends
Secret Admirer
"W- What?"
I was still shocked in my seat, eyes bulging out staring at Lance, as if he just spoke some sort of alien language I had to decode. He- likes me? Legit?
Lance smiled, then chuckled, "Finally, a response after ten minutes."
"You're not cooperating with my brain," I frowned.
"It's just like what I said," he shrugged. "I like you, _________. That's why I asked you, of all our classmates, to be my project partner. That's why I wanted to treat you to dinner that one time. That's why I'm treating you to dinner now."
"How- Why- I-" THIS IS EXACTLY LIKE HOW THE 2NE1 EONNIS AND MINJI SAID IT WOULD BE!!!
He smiled, "Let's say it's... liking at first sight? I was looking for a good seat on the first day, and that's when I first saw you, looking boredly at the board. Starting then, I wished that we would have some sort of group or partner work for that damned subject. Looks like my prayers got answered," he laughed.
"Lance, I-"
"You're gonna reject me, aren't you?" he laughed.
"That is not funny," I frowned.
"But you are," he said, so sure. Well, he's right.
"Yeah," I tried to laugh.
"Is there a guy?"
I nodded, "It's complicated, whatever kind of relationship we have right now, but I really like him, I'm sorry."
"It's cool," he smiled, though I knew he was sad. "I kinda guessed it already."
"You did?" I looked at him questioningly.
"You tried to avoid me like the plague," he laughed. "Way to be subtle," he rolled his eyes.
"Well excuse me for having bad acting skills," I laughed.
"Well, just to let you know, I'm not giving up."
I stopped laughing and looked at him, cocking my head to the side. "What do you mean?"
"I mean," he stopped to prop his elbows on the table and look intently at me, "I won't give up my feelings that easily; especially with the fact that your relationship with the guy is complicated."
"Lance, I-"
"Let me talk for a bit, yeah?" he smiled. I just nodded.
"Look, _________. I know, this is weird. I mean, we've only known each other for a month, and it's because of a stupid project. And it's weird that I already told you that I like you." He sighed, "You reject me now, that's fine, honestly," he smiled. "But I really do want to be genuine friends with you. I just want to lay down all my cards and let you know that I'll be here liking you no matter what happens. If you can't like me as someone more, then maybe you can like me as a friend, right?"
"So..." I paused for a bit, trying to get my answer together. "You're, fine. with me rejecting you?"
"As long as you accept being my friend," he smiled.
"Oh god it's like you're adding me on Facebook," I laughed.
He laughed, getting what I said, "So? You accept my friend request?"
"So let me get this arrangement," I looked at him. "We're friends, but you still like me?"
"Basically, if you need a rebound guy, I'm here," he shrugged.
"Hey! Not funny!" I frowned.
"But that's kinda the best way to say it," he laughed. "We're friends, but if that guy is stupid enough to let you go, I'll be here to wipe those tears," he smiled, really genuinely.
"Tha'ts really poetic," I smiled. He laughed.
"I'm trying to be serious here!"
"I am too!" I laughed, then stopped to look at him and smile. "Thank you, for taking it... well."
"So," he stuck out his hand for a handshake, "friends?"
I beamed and took it, shaking his hand. "Friends."
That night, I tweeted. I thought it would be complicated, but I'm glad I made a new friend today. :)
