Authors' Fun TimeToday we have another talented author with us . So please welcome JaeKnight
1.what is your aff user name?
My previous was OtakuGurL, now JaeKnight #characterdevelopment
2.How many stories have you published so far in aff?
Hmm...I have too many threads, not gonna lie. I have 5 threads that provide services for users here on AFF, mainly on graphics and layouts. Those threads were actually on my second account (J-Knight) before, but I purchase gold status once in a while so it’d be a waste not to hoard those KP loljk. I have 9 published stories here on AFF that are actual stories.
3.Do you write on a perticular fandom?
Mainly EXO :)
4.Generally what is your source of inspiration or motivation to write?
Generally, from the things I see and observe with movies being on the top, then real life things. What motivates me to write, at least right now, is to actually complete a story. Another thing that drives me is to show readers the things I learned, be it facts or real life lessons or social problems, through the means of writing while hopefully entertaining them in an also hopefully creative way.
5.Many authors suffer from writers block sometime..How do you think they should deal with it?
Aah. I’ve searched about it and I learned that there’s a lot of reasons why we get writer’s block. Lack of inspiration? Ideas? Energy? I literally suffered for more than 3-4 years of WB; but okay, I was on hiatus from writing. Obviously, I’m not the person to ask. But some of the things I personally did to beat writer’s block (so far!) is to really plan ahead, do some bullet points, set goals. I learned from a screenwriter that sometimes the cause of WB is something we did wrong at the first part of the story, then later, plot holes would start appearing out of nowhere. Another thing I learned to beat writer’s block when lacking motivation but know what to write, is to simply write the dialogues first, then add descriptions later. Now, I interacted with a (known) writer here (pab0_panda) on twitter, and said she does the same!
6.If you place yourself as a reader..which element in a story catches the attention of a reader?
Oooh. The concept of the story. I mean, if I do read. I’d be looking at the concept, to see if it’s intriguing or something new. I like strong (and/or unique) concepts. I also have a soft spot for slice of life
7.How would you deal with negative comments on your story. Do you think criticizing comment influences on a writer's mind in a better way?
Ooh. Face it like a (wo)man. I don’t know what else to say haha. But yes, constructive criticism has been really helpful to me to improve my writing, and I’m sure it does too to other authors. It’s fine to feel salty at first on constructive criticism because that’s human nature! It’s the work that you’re proud of! But yes, sometimes we need someone to pull us back to the ground.
8.which genre you like to read and write?
It’s hard to limit those things into genres, right? But I’m super drawn to gritty stories. I don’t care if the genre is romance or non-romance or thriller, as long as it’s gritty. In other words, realistic and somewhat showing how da
