Authors' Fun TimeAnother interview with an amazing author requested by A Reader...so plz welcome Emilieee!!!
1.what is your AFF username?
Emilieee
2.How many stories have you published in AFF so far?
12, though that’s probably going to change soon, haha.
3.Do you write on a particular fandom?
EXO.
4.Generally what is your source of inspiration or motivation to write?
Writing’s just something I really enjoy, and I don’t always have a set source of inspiration. Music motivates me at times, but something I’ve noticed that helped improve my writing and also has given me motivation is actually reading classic literature even if it's a pain to read at times. Apart from that, I’ve found that Marie Lu’s writing inspires me.
5.Many authors suffer from writer block sometime. How should they deal with it?
Big oof here :’)
I think I’ve gotten myself in writer’s block right now, but I still force myself to write. For me, it’s starting that’s hard and I keep on pushing back writing if I have writer’s block, but by forcing myself to write, I manage to get into the flow of it every time I actually sit down to right.
If it’s motivation or inspiration you’re lacking, read. It helps.
6.If you place yourself as a reader , which element in a story catches the attention of a reader?
Characters! They should be intriguing, but I guess the first thing I look for when I open a story is definitely the plot. I’m a huge er for nicely developed, realistic and healthy relationships and flawed characters. If you can make a character likeable, relatable, flawed yet strong at the same time, you’ve got me.
7.How would you deal with negative comments on your story. Do you think criticizing comment influences on a writer's mind in a better way?
It depends on what sort of “negative” comment it is! There’s constructive criticism, then there’s pure, hateful comments where a commentator wants to put an author down. There are instances where I’ve found criticism helpful, but something that I’ve seen happen a lot is when people tell me how they want the plot to go when they don’t have the full picture in mind, which does end up irking me. What I’ve gotten a lot is a push to write more romance/fluff and for it to be labelled as criticism, so that didn’t sit well with me. Demanding for something isn’t the same as criticism, but apparently it gets mixed up.
As for influencing a writer, I think it’s really the mindset they view it with, and the tone of the comment if it really is a helpful comment. It’s very possible to be helpful without a) sugarcoating, b) being rude and c) still being honest and nice at
