SIDE A: ACCIDENTALLY YOURS

"Alright Yuri, you can do this; you totally can, just don't show any signs of giving up."

"You just go out there and you show them that you're sorryu and that you'll do whatever it takes, (I)except leaving them alone to show that you're truly sorry okay?"

"Come on Kwon Yuri, don't be such a-"

"Maam we have arrived."

"Really?" She looks through the window and sees the familiar white country house. "Oh we really are."

 

The cab driver helps her with the suitcases she had along and Yuri gave him a good tip and then zooms out of the driveway. She lets out a sigh and remembers the last time she was there and the memories that were created surrouding the entire place. She closes her eyes and tries to focus on the present and on her agenda which was to prove to the Jung family that she's still worthy of it. She knows that she has been this self-centered but she had learned her lesson and now she's more than determined to show that she's a changed woman now.

With a small self-boost of confidence, she strides her way towards the door when it suddenly opened half-way through. She immediately stops in her tracks when she saw Mrs. Jung looking at her like she has seen a ghost.

 

"Yuri?"

"Mom."

"What are you doing here?" She looks around the area before turning back to her. "You need to leave."

"Mom I can't leave."

"I might hate you right now and I may want you dead on the spot but I cannot be a witness to a murder." She says. "So if you want to extend your days on Earth- leave."

"Please mom just give me a few minutes to speak with your daughter just- a few minutes is all that I ask."

"Jessica doesn't want to talk to you so do your-"

"Honey let's go we have to head out to the market- what the hell are you doing here?"

Seeing the man right in front of her causes her to swallow the lump on . "Dad."

"Don't 'dad' me you reckless kid." He spits out. "How can you still call me that after everything you've put my daughter through, the lies you told straight up to my face, you still have the audacity to call me dad?"

"Honey, she's was about to leave so let's go too as well okay?"

"Let's go? No honey! I can't let the person who killed my grandchild leave!"

"I didn't mean to do it." She answers. "I never wanted anything of this to happen."

"See? Another lie coming from that petty mouth of yours. Don't sugar coat bull for me Yuri, I know you wanted this to happen. Jessica told me everything okay? Everything. She told me how the baby would end up destroying your career and your image as this 'stone-cold idol'. I know there were more harmful words in between the revelation but Jessica chose not to tell me because if she did, I would've flown to Seoul and kill you."

"But I swear at the bottom of my heart dad, I didn't." She pleads. "What kind of future parent would want their child and their wife go through that road? The choice was out of my hands."

Out of his rage, his lifts his hands and slapped Yuri hard. "HONEY!"

"See that's where you're wrong Yuri." He steps forward a little closer to lessen their distance and to increase the intimidation. "You had the choice, from the very beginning you had it. You had the choice to spare my grandson from your lack of anger control which caused his life, spared all of us from believing that you guys were really in love with one another and you could've spared my daughter for all the pain she's feeling right now." He reminds the latter. "But what do you do everytime you had the choice huh?"

"HONEY STOP!" She tries to rip off his hands that was on Yuri's collar.

He ignores his wife's comment and continues to spit fire in front of her face. "You chose yourself, above everyone else because that's the only thing you've ever cared about from the beginning Yuri- yourself." He grips harder, causing for Yuri to struggle ot breathe. "And now you come here and tell me the choice wasn't in your hands? Are you ing with me Kwon?"

"I've... I've learned my lesson- ack."

"No Yuri, people who as self-centered as you don't learn their lesson, they fake their sympathy until the people around them believe that they've changed but unfortunately for you- I could see through fake people and you, are just one of the billion out of there." Mr. Jung pushes him off roughly causing for Yuri to back away a few steps. "I will never believe your words Yuri, remember that. I will never help you to get back to my princess' good graces because you don't deserve her."

"So why don't you choose to do something that would benefit everyone but yourself for once and leave us alone. We're all better off without you and frankly? My daughter is definitely better without you. Seeing your true colors made me wonder what did she see in you in the first place. You're not worthy of love anyways." He glares at her one last time before fixing his plaid top. "If you have any decency left- leave."

 

They leave her all alone and they sincerely hoped that Yuri's last remaining and functioning cells will help her understand that the Jungs will never want to associate themselves again with the Kwons, especially with a Kwon like Kwon Yuri herself. Yuri looks down on the grassed path and tears were falling from her like raindrops in the sky.

 

"What are you still doing here?" Mr. Jung asks as he gets off of their truck. "Are you really trying to piss me off?"

"No, I'm not sir."

"If you're not pissing me off, then you're seriously asking for your death is that it?" He scoffs. "Alright then, you leave me with no choice."

"Honey wait! Hon-" She tries to stop the latter but he already went inside. "Yuri what the hell are you still doing here!? I told you to leave! You're not taking his words seriously!"

"Believe I am."

"Then why are you still here?! Look my husband doesn't play around when his pissed off. He could really kill you!"

"But-"

"Honey step aside." Both of them were surprised to see Mr. filling his shot gun with the bullets. "I'm going to kill this woman once and for all."

"You need to relax, honey you cannot let your emotions get the best of you."

"Why not? She let her emotions get the best of her and look where it got us."

"Still, getting this mad would do us no good. We have guests inside and we wouldn't want them to witness to ruckus am I right?"

"You think I think about what other view of me when I'm this mad?" He walks closer to her and aims the gun at her head. "Any last words?"

"I love your daught and I love my son way before he was born. Our relationship may have been build up on lies and deceit but the memories and the feelings shared were true and authentic." She takes a step forward and feels the cold tip of the shot gun against her forehead. "You're right I have no decency left and so I'm here laying it all on the line." She says. "I've lost everything and so I am doing everything that I can to get my wife back."

"Too bad Kwon Yuri, the feeling is not mutual."

"Then I will die trying." Yuri grabs the tip and places it on her heart. "I am that determined Mr. Jung."

"Fine, then say good bye-"

"DAD!" Jessica runs and stands in front of Yuri. "What are you doing?!"

"Step aside princess I'll blow this woman right now!"

"Dad you have to stop, you don't have to do this!" She begs. "Please calm down and let me handle this."

"Honey please listen to your daughter."

Despite his rage, he could never say no to his only child. "This doesn't change anything Kwon Yuri, I hope you're well aware of that."

"Go mom, help him calm downa and force him to take his meds." As her mom leaves them the two alone she turns to Yuri with a disbelieved look. "And you, what are you doing here? Were things not clear from you from the last time that we talked?"

"They were clear for me, but that doesn't mean I've accepted your decision." She says. "I'm not signing the divorce papers, not until I've proven something."

"And what would you like to prove huh? What more do you demand from me?"

"All I want to prove is I've changed, that I know what I loss and I don't think I could move on and not have you with me. And I could do that if you've given me a chance."

"A chance to what? To break me again? To allow myself to be fooled by someone who's selfish as you?"

"I want you to allow me to love you."

"Love me?" She scoffs. "I was a feeling a lot of things when we were together but love was never one of them."

"Which is why I am asking you for it right now." She says.

Jessica looks at her for a moment before looking away. "Just go, that's the best you do."

 

The thing is, Yuri never left even when the Jungs left for another state to have a short vacation. The last thing she saw from Jessica was a brief eye contact before hopping onto their vehicle who zoomed out of the house. She settled herself under the huge oak tree near the bed and breakfast place. Using her suitcases as her pillows she has made the tree her home for the past three days. Her phone was dead and the only thing that was keeping her sane.

She had to take a quick dip by the lake, she was running out of clothes and the guests were looking at her with utter sympathy to the point that she was being given spare change. She couldn't help but scoff sometimes, she must've been really pathetic and pitiful in the eyes of the others.

But she was also determined to prove to them, especially to Jessica that she's going to stay this time so she didn't mind the California heat and continued on waiting, even when her stomach has been making non-stop sounds since the second day. She tries to not pay attention to it, but everything about her system were slowly giving up. Her lips were also cracking and she hasn't remembered when was the last time she had her water intake and though she tries to keep them open, her eyelids were shutting down faster than a bullet train.

 

"Sorry Sica, I don't think I can wait."

A loud splash on the face causes Yuri's body to jerk up and look at the surroundings. She somehow finds herself in a room as she tries to control her breathing. Once she has recovered and confused as to why the sudden wardrobe change. She tries to make a move but it fails and once she tries again there was a knock on the door causing for her to look up and she was surprised to see-

"Mr. Thomas?"

"Catch."

She successfully grips on the hand towel thrown at her. "Why..."

"Eat up." He says as he places a tray of food in front of her. "And before you think of anything else, my wife was the one who changed you."

"Your wife? B-but-"

"Listen, I may hate you but I can't help but admire your determination." He says. "You've got some guts there child I must say." Yuri decides to remain quiet. "You need to eat up. I'm sure you're hungry, quickly now."  Immediately the idol starts to eat whatever that was handed in front of her. "Wow, you really are hungry."

Yuri wipes away the smudges on . "Thank you."

"Want another round?"

"No, I'm good thank you."

"What are your plans?"

"Um, go back to the tree?"

He chuckles. "You sure are a fighter."

"Or just a reckless and in love woman who has zero chances of winning her back."

"Either way I'm just glad to know one truth about you."

"Look Mr. Thomas I know what I did-"

"Child you owe me no apology, it's Jung whom you have to say sorry to- especially their daughter." Yurnods in understanding. "But what I can do is offer you a little help."

"You- you want to help me?" He nods. "But why? I mean- after what I did, I'm not sure someone will help."

"I want to help you because I know how it feels to have no on believe in you and you've got no one else to count on but yourself. You want to change and you want to show it to other people but no body else was willing to listen to you because what they see is your mistakes and no one was willing to look past through it."

"Y-yeah."

"Which is why I don't think I could just stand on the sideline and watch you go through all of this alone."

The idol suddenly feels like tearing up. "Mr. Thomas I-"

"Don't thank me yet because I too am not sure that my plan will work."

"What's your plan?" He hands her the newspaper. "What's this?"

"Take a look for yourself."

JOB HIRING

"Wait, does this mean..."

Thomas shrugs. "It's a long shot, but it's the only chance you've got."

She takes a look at the ad and back at the man who's sitting beside her. "Mr. Thomas can I borrow your phone? I need to arrange some papers."

"Tha-Th-Thank you for coming." Mr. Jung continues on with his coughing.

"Dad are you okay? You can take a rest if you'd like, I'll handle things from here."

"It's alright, we're down to the last applicant anyways." He went on with his coughing. "Thomas, get the next applicant."

Thomas nods his head and leaves the room. "Dad, I insist- I've already learned the basics anyways. I know how to screen an applicant now."

He smiles. "Thanks princess but I think it's not I who needs some rest."

"It's alright dad, we're down to one last applicant anyways."

Mr. Jung laughs and shakes his head. "Aigoo, you really are my daughter indeed!"

"Of course." She smiles. "Now let's get this show going."

The door opens and both of them were surprised to see Yuri standing in front of them. "And you're still here? Thomas get this woman out of my sight."

"Sir, with all due respect-"

"No Thomas this woman out. I don't want bull."

"Mr. Jung you can push me all the way out of this house and in anyway you want, you can put a gun right at my forehead but I won't leave. I'm not demanding you to treat me as your daughter-in-law or the who broke your daughter's heart. I'm asking you to evaluate me as your future employee." She hands them the papers needed for the application. "That's all I ask."

"You think you're worthy being an employee? You can't even take care of your own child how much more other people?"

"Dad enough."

"No sweetie, she needs to hear this once and for all so maybe she could wake up from this dream." He turns back to the idol. "Hell would have to freeze before I accept you to be an employee here."

"If you don't believe my words then please allow me to show my intention through my actions. I promise you, you won't-"

"Thank you for coming Ms. Kwon but I think we're done for the day. We'll be contacting you soon."

Yuri stands there for a few seconds before bowing her head. "Thank you as well."

 

She gives one last look at her wife who wasn't even paying attention at her and busies herself with the papers and with a heavy heart she leaves the room and probably lost the chance she only got and wondered what more could she do. 

 

"I'm sorry kid." Thomas says as soon as he got in the stables. "Mr. Jung's getting the kid from the town."

"It's alright Mr. Thomas, it wasn't like I was expecting for him to find in his heart to see through my mistakes."

"There, there." He lightly taps her on the back. "At least we tried right?"

"Yeah." She says in a dull tone.

"What are your plans now?"

"Well certainly I'm not welcome here anymore and I am too embarrassed to stay with you guys." She sighs. "I think I'm going to stay at a nearby inn or something to recollect my thoughts and try to-"
 
"Yuri, if you try to regroup now the Jungs will take it as a sign of yield. You said so yourself you've got nothing to lose so why regroup?"

"I don't know what to do anymore Mr. Thomas, I want to try- badly. But I don't want to be annoying just because I'm determined."

"But that doesn't mean you have to leave. Send Jessica flowers, cook her the food that she likes, serenade her, wait by the window. Sometimes we take for granted all the simple things but others see the small things as the only things that matter."

"Sica is that kind of person who pays attention the small details but-"

Thomas sighs and sits beside the latter. "Yuri, when you're fighting for something, or someone in your case it should give you determination to win them back and not yield. Just because she doesn't believe you now doesn't mean she won't believe you the next day or the day after tomorrow... you don't ever try to give up on the people you love because you fight for them." He says. "You fight with every bit of your existence as a person, and you will wait for them as long as it takes and you won't mind because you believe that Jessica is worth the wait."

"And hardwork always pay off Kwon believe me. I didn't got my wife on the first try."

"How long did you try?"

"I've lost count but it doesn't matter... What matters is I never gave up."He smiles. "And you shouldn't do the same because real love never loses."

"Thank you Mr. Thomas..." She smiles back. "I understand it perfectly now."

That makes the man chuckle. "There you go! Anyway don't be shy about staying here, stay here for as long as you want. It's been a while since we had a guest."

"Thank you for helping me Mr. Thomas."

"That's uncle Thomas for you now. Tomorrow we need to wake up early. We're going to buy flowers for your wife and write a note for her okay?"

She smiles hearing that she could still do something to make this work. "Okay uncle."

 

The next day, Yuri was hopping and memorizing the lines she had been saying for the past fifteen minute walk from Thomas' house towards the Jungs' bed and breakfast. She was holding onto a bouquet of sunflowers and repeating the words 'hope you have a nice day' inside her head. Her palms were sweating, thinking of various scenarios inside her mind but she tries to brush it off and focus on the positive. No more negative vibes as uncle Thomas would like to say.

She was casually walking around when she walks past the stables where she sees a white boy Jason, the newly hired employee with a man and he was securing a child as she hops onto the horse. Yuri admits, she couldn't help but feel jealous but she just thinks that the boy probably needs the job more than she does so she tries to be positive and brushes the thought off.

Suddenly she hears a loud squeal and she snaps her head on the stables where she could see the man screaming at the horse to calm down and Jason who was laying on the ground holding onto his arm. The horse suddenly zooms off and without any seconds thoughts, she drops the bouquet of flowers and
makes a run towards the stables.

 

 

"HELP! MY CHILD! She's on the horse and-"

"Sir, I'm going to need you to calm down okay?"

"Please help my child- she's my princess."

"Call Mr. Jung and inform him what happened here okay? I'll save your daughter I promise." Yuri hops onto one of the horses available and chases after the loose horse.

 

Thankful enough she knew the ins and outs of this place and so she decides to take a shortcut route to cut the loose horse and try to hop on it. She speeds her horse up and by the time she got to the end route of the shortcut, she sees from afar the animal heading towards them. Immediately she hops off and stands by. When she saw the horse fast approaching she grabs onto the saddle and uses her upper body strength to climb up and calm down the horse which she does after a few seconds.

They went back to the stables where they saw Mr. Jung, Jessica and the father anxiously waiting for their return. She helps the kid hopping off the horse and father runs up to them hugging his own child tightly. Yuri was controlling her tears and look at them with a smile, but the smile immediately disappears when she came face to face with Mr. Jung's glare.

 

 

"What's your name?"

"My name's Yuri, Kwon Yuri sir."

"Is she an employee here?"

"No, she's-" Mr. Jung gives her a look. "She's a visitor who wants a job."

"Well you should give it to her."

"But the spot's been taken already."

"By this boy who slapped the horse's arse because he has seen it in the movies? His recklessness could've gotten my daughter killed!"

"I'm sorry for that Walter."

"You can make it up to me by hiring this lady right here."

"What? You know I can't do that, I already hired-"

"I doubt that this boy can function with his broken arm." He counters. "Think of it as his temporary replacement until he's able to fix his arm. Come on man, you owe me this one. I'm in debt of this woman and if she wants a job here then I should give it to her."

"You don't have to be in debt of me sir. I just did what I had to do." She sadly smiles. "A parent would've done everything to save their child."

"Jung you have to do this for me. I'm placing our decade of friendship on this one."

Her father-in-law doesn't speak for a while and lets out a sigh first. "Fine, but only until Jason heals his own arm." He gives him a look. "You go to town and have it a look okay? I need back here asap."

"You don't have to hurry though." Yuri smiles at him. "I can cover for you as long as you want."

"T-t-thanks." He blushes as he holds onto his arm.

"Thomas will take you to the hospital." He instructs. "Walter I'm sorry for what happened."

"No it's fine, we're not friends for nothing." He smiles. "Did you say thank you to your savior?"

"Thank you, you're my prince." The little girl gives her a quick kiss before leaving together with her father.

"Well it looks like Satan's really on your side Kwon."

"I am deeply grateful for accepting his offer sir."

"Cut the bull, I won't be fooled by your act again." He says. "Since you're living with Thomas, I'll let him teach you Jason's job. But if you're working for me, you're going to have to stay where you're working."

"You mean-"

Mr. Jung lets out an infamous smirk. "Well you can always give up the job Yul, you're good at giving up things- even people after all."

"I'm a change person now Mr. Jung, I can show it you only if you'll allow me."

"Change? Yeah right. Keep telling that to yourself because you're just wasting your time. Come Jes, let's head back inside."

"Dad, I have to show her where she'll be staying."

"Thomas will do that later."

"I'm just going to show her and then I'll head back. Mom still needs my baking assistance after all."

He eyes her daughter and then to Yuri and then back to her daughter. "Five minutes." And with that he leaves them all alone.

"Come with me, I'll show you where you're going to stay."

 

Yuri follows Jessica inside the stables and she wondered where was she going to stay. Upon entering the smell of the animals got to her so she pinches her nose and tries to covers the smell. Jessica opens the door of a small storage container and the idol was surprised to see how small it was.

 

 

"This? This is the place?"

"This is the place."

"Oh."

She walks inside and sees that it was definitely a cramped up space. She even doubts that her suitcases would fit all and the bed looked uncomfortable, the sink was rusty and the smell was just unbearable. She eyes the room with horror and confirmed that the horse's place were bigger than hers. Mr. Jung can really be a tough guy when he really wants to.

 

 

"Wow, this place is really something huh." She says. "I can't believe Jason will be staying here."

"He's a stay out employee since his home is close. You on the other hand are homeless."

"Yeah, but I'm trying to win her back." She looks at Jessica in the eyes. "I hope she sees it."

"Well you're too late. She doesn't want to let someone like you in."

"She may think I'm too late but that doesn't stop me from trying. I will not give up on her."

"Then good luck wasting your time."

 

A few minutes have passed when she realized that she forgot to give Jessica something and so she makes a run for it. Thankfully enough, the flowers were there where she left them and Jessica was still halfway walking back at their home and so she screams out her wife's name which made the latter stop and turn around and look at her confusingly.

 

 

"Here." She says and tries to catch up her breath. "I- I wasn't able to give you these earlier."

Jessica looked at the sunflowers before looking at her blankly. "No thank you Yuri you can keep them to yourself or better yet- you can throw them at the trash."

"All I want is to give you flowers, that's all."

"But I don't want your flowers." She says. "So do me a favor and keep them."

"Jus-"

Jessica grabs the flowers and throws them to the trash. "Go back to the stables, uncle Thomas will be back any moment now so you can start your orientation."

 

"Yuri have you bathed the horses?"

"Already have."

"Fed them?"

"Yup."

"Cleaned their stables?"

"Done."

"Nice."

"Are there any work that needs to be done?"

"Not that I know of, you can walk around and check if there's someone who needs help."

"Okay uncle Thomas. I'll see you later for dinner."

"You take care child. Good job for today."

 

Yuri walks around the facilities searching if someone needed some help. She checks the pool and it was maintained well, the halls didn't need any cleaning and there were no requests to make up the rooms so she walks out from the back door when she sees a huge truck and Larry unloading the goods. She immediately makes a run towards the back portion of the house where she could see Larry, another employee of the bed and breakfast were unloading the stuffs. She immediately helps him right away especially when she knows that the guy is experiencing back pain most of the time.

 

 

"Hold on there Larry, I'm going to take it from here."

"But-"

"You can't simply carry all of this. You have your back pain issues I can't let you do this."

"It's fine Yuri I can manage."

"Ey, don't fool yourself. Tell you what, go and take a look what we have in the kitchen and I'll try to make something out of it okay?"

Larry smiles at her. "Thank you Yuri, you're an angel."

"It's no problem, with all the work at the stables, carrying these are a no biggie."

He chuckles
