CHAPTER 18

“woooohoooooo!!!!!!!!!!” Daniel shouted as soon as they arrived at the place. When Minhyun suggested Haeundae Beach, they excitedly headed straight to it. According to the older, It’s a kilometre stretch of fine sand where people usually go during summertime.

Minyun also suggested that “Swimming is allowed, although nobody was up for it due to cold weather. So it’s a perfect spot for a date since only few would dare to go to the beach in these freezing water right?”

Jeongyeon smiled into herself while watching Daniel runs towards the water. “just like a puppy rather than a kid” she mumbled

Daniel seems to remember that He has companion, He immediately jogged towards her

“wanna take a plunge ?”Daniel excitedly said

“and die because of hypothermia? No thank you” She sarcastically retorts

“eyyyy, don’t be a killjoy Jeongyeonnie. I’ll tell you its gonna be amazing” Daniel tried to pull her towards the water

“I’m not like you Kang, I don’t love the water that much” Jeongyeon pulls back. Daniels excited face earlier fall down and replace by sulking

“party pooper” Daniel whispered while pouting

“brat”she butted

Daniel sat on the sand, his back facing Jeongyeon. Is he really sulking?

Jeongyeon outbreathed. “really Kang? Are we going to spend our night fighting over this petty thing?”

“It is not a petty thing” Daniel answers back, still not facing her

Jeongyeon rolled her eyes. “yeah it is, are we going to waste our prescious date like this?”

“what did you say?” Daniel asks

“really? Are we seriously arguing about this?”

“no, What did you say earlier?” Daniel faces her this time

Jeongyeon didn’t understood him but answers him anyway. “that we are spending our time fighting?”

“no after that” Daniel stood up and dusts the sand on his pants

“uhhh that we wasting our prescious da-“

“date right?”Daniel beams. “you said it date. So we really on a date tonight?”

Jeongyeon was unable to answer back as she is also surprise with her words

“so since this is a date, wanna eat some food?” Daniel offers

“Niel we just had our di-“

“I wouldn’t take a no for an answer you know” Daniel crosses his arms

Jeongyeon looks at him and thought of some excuse but when she thought of nothing she nods her head. And when she saw him smiles so brightly, Jeongyeon though that it wasn’t that bad even if she is risk for indigestion from overeating that night

“stay there, I’m going to the near convenience store” Daniel instructed as he run towards the near seven eleven across the street

Jeongyeon let herself rest on the fine sand. She closed her eyes as the cool breeze from the sea hits her face.

Jeongyeon never thought that she would be able comeback on her hometown again, and much more with Daniel in tow.

As much as Jeongyeon hates to admit. She miss this. She miss this familiar atmosphere. She misses this cold seeping under her skin, and the waves clashes with the rocks, but most of all she miss the people on her memories. Memories that warm you up from the inside. But they also tear you apart. And the worst part of holding the memories is not the pain. It's the loneliness of it. Memories that was shared between her and Daniel.

Truthfully, Jeongyeon wanted to escape right now. She wanted to leave him behind and face her father alone.  She wanted to keep him safe, away from the painful truth.

Jeongyeon doesn’t mind to be called a liar,  She is having this continuous debate within whether she tell him the truth or not, even though she made promise with Jisung. but sometimes it’s more noble to tell a small lie than to deliver a truth.

She suddenly felt something cold on her cheek, she opens her eyes and looks up. Daniel is smiling sweetly at her.

“I got you a chocolate flavoured ice cream!” Daniel said as he sat on the sand beside her

“an ice cream in this cold weather? Not bad” She commented

“and I also got
