Junmyeon was already in enough trouble as it was--he didn't need his father getting upset at him for making enemies with the other Kim family. As much as he hated the guy, he couldn't upset his father more than he'd already done.
After the stunt he pulled with the fire alarm, his father wasn't happy. Adding to the fire he'd already ignited was just plain stupid.
But he couldn't understand the guilt that etched at him. He'd already helped Kris out once, so why did he feel this way? Kris didn't have to jump in and 'be the hero'. He wasn't useless. Sighing in frustration, Junmyeon sat down and let his head rest in his hands. He was in the office building, and Yoona was upstairs somewhere.
Why was he there?
He didn't have any check ups today; he had no real reason to be there.
But, for some odd reason, Junmyeon suddenly felt so alone.
"Mister?"
Junmyeon looked up, recognising that voice. It was Jongin again, looking at him, head tilted and eyebrows tugged down in a firm frown. "Are you sad mister?"
Junmyeon shook his head, tired. "No, I'm just...sleepy, exhausted."
"Are you getting eight hours of sleep?" Jongin asked thoughtfully, and Junmyeon felt like laughing and saying "Of course not! Who does nowadays?" But he didn't, because Jongin was a kid, and Jongin didn't understand how terrible the world really was.
"I'm getting enough." He said eventually. "Well, for me anyway."
Jongin's eyebrows tugged, but loosened and he hoisted himself onto the bench next Junmyeon, hands at his sides, gripping the bottom of the seat. He looked at his shoes--ben ten ones at that--and swung his too short legs that didn't reach the ground. "Well I think you should sleep longer tonight if you're sleepy. Are you staying up past your bedtime?"
Junmyeon chuckled and shook his head. "No, no. I don't really have a bedtime you see." He explained and Jongin pouted. For one second, Junmyeon's heart leapt and he felt a sudden fondness for the kid.
"I wish I didn't have a bedtime! Mummy always makes me go to sleep at eight o'clock, and it's not fair!" Jongin whined. "Why can't I sleep late like she does?" Jongin folded his arms and sat back.
"Well maybe mummy has work to do." Junmyeon reasoned.
Jongin's face scrunched up. "No I don't think so. Mummy works at home all day, always at her computer. Sometimes she locks the door and...I hear her talking to people." Jongin says the last part in a hush as if he isn't meant to tell anybody.
"Well I'm sure it's important." Junmyeon says carefully. "And plus, you're mother is much older than you."
Jongin nods, opening his mouth, but before he can voice himself they both look up at the sound of his name being called.
"Kim Jongin, get back in here!"
Jongin only rolled his eyes and looked back at Junmyeon, whispering in a low and (extremely cute) voice. "She's a real pain." Junmyeon tries his hardest not to laugh because, when has a kid ever been so entertaining to him? Jumping down and dusting himself off Jongin tells Junmyeon.
"I'll see you soon mister!"
Junmyeon gives him a small wave and a small smile. He sits there basking in the realness of it all and for a brief but sweet moment he was actually happy.

Mondays were amazing for Junmyeon. The day that ignoring his dad started. For the weekend, Junmyeon had nothing to do but walk around the house aimlessly, and then in the evenings, wit at the dinner table in an awkward silence with his father. Things weren't as bad as they had been; his father had no show of tears as he did right after the accident.
Even though he was cold and isolated, he did love his own wife and his son, and he did spend a long period of time grieving over their loss. Junmyeon couldn't say the same though. Albeit there was an emptiness that settled in his heart ever since those events took place, Junmyeon couldn't honestly say that he grieved over their loss.
It wasn't that he wanted them dead, or that he thought they deserved it. He just didn't feel the same pain that his father did. His grandparents turned away from him too, seeing as the only ones still alive were his mother's parents. But, even with his cursed and demented family relations, Junmyeon didn't have the heart to say he hated his father.
Maybe his father only showed an
