Chapter | 22
Erased | KrishoJunmyeon was visiting the lobby cafe again, taking small pinches from his muffin and scrolling through his phone. It was getting colder these days as autumn began to wither away into the dank, cold of winter. It hadn't snowed yet, but everyone had been anticipating it and Junmyeon was just glad he lived comfortably and didn't have to worry about winter causing anymore harm than mere rashes.
Junmyeon didn't really use social media - he didn't feel the need to. Social media contradicted itself. It was meant for people to reach out to each other and communicate, but now it seemed, people knew how to text more fluently than actual conversing. Not that Junmyeon could exactly say he was good at making friends. Actually, he .
The only friend he had worked for his father, and the only person who considered him a friend was just going onto first grade in the next semester. And it struck Junmyeon. Jongin, little Jongin would be promoted from the daycare centre and moved into school soon. It made something inside him deflate and he looked towards the large glass doors of the daycare centre to the left of the building.
A few of the kids were in view, but Jongin wasn't to be seen. Worry bloomed within Junmyeon for a moment, but he soon saw the tan male come into sight, waving some action figure in the air. His heart warmed at the sight and Junmyeon couldn't help but smile.
He though back to their time spent at the mall, when Jongin seemed so optimistic and happy that Junmyeon just didn't care that maybe one day the kid's attitude might get him hurt someday, because it made him so bubbly to see Jongin enjoying himself. Next time, Junmyeon wants to take him out and buy him things. He wants to get him those ben ten watches he was babbling about, those shoes the other couldn't seem to keep his eyes on and all the food he wanted. When he'd held Jongin, it was obvious the kid was skinny, maybe even underweight.
But he doesn't know if there'll be a next time. Not with Soonkyu watching him like a hawk every time he enters the building. He's due for a check up soon with Yoona though, so it's not like he walks in with no reason.
Chucking the remains of his butchered muffin into the trashcan, Junmyeon sits in the cafe until people begin to pile out of the building slowly, as the sun says goodbye. He keeps his eyes on the daycare centre. The kids, as far as he knows, don't get picked up until about five o'clock and it's now nearing that time.
Most of the kids in the daycare are picked up by their parents who work in the offices above, which isn't surprising really. That's the whole point of the centre. For parents to drop their kids off and pick them up when the workload is done. But it's also open for other children and Junmyeon guesses that Jongin is one of those select few.
Junmyeon moves away from the cafe and sits down on one of the benches outside the Daycare. He doesn't know why, but he is curious or maybe, he just wants to speak to Jongin's mother. Ask if he can take the other out. Which seems strange to himself but he feels the growing need whenever he sees the kid. He would've been lying if he hadn't come back everyday after their trip to the mall just to check up on him. Jongin always gave him a big smile through the glass and a vigorous wave.
He sat with his elbows resting on his knees, silently listening to the music blasting through his earphones.
