Chapter 6: A Day Out or a Date?

Innocent Love

After walking around from mall to mall, Beverly Center was their last stop. They have been out since ten o’clock am, seeing the city and showing Jungkook his favorite place in town, that mostly consisted of the malls. Jimin decided to skip his dance lessons so he can show Jungkook around. Jimin feeling like he is on cloud nine tried not to overdress, he didn’t want to make look like they were on a date, even though it feels like it is. After buying a couple of designer clothes for Jungkook, Jimin spots a pretzel stand,

“Let’s get some pretzels,” he says, “You can’t come to Beverly Center without eating Wetzel's Pretzels.”

Jungkook cuffs, “Are they really that good?”

“The best,” says Jimin, leading Jungkook.

The line wasn’t short, they were up next, “What do you want? Buy whatever you want it’s my treat,” says Jimin.

“Really?” Um, how about? A little bit of everything,” he says teasing him. Jungkook slightly nudges at him with his elbow, smiling,

“I’m serious.”

“You know what’s good here better than me,” replies Jungkook, “I’ll eat whatever you’re eating.”

“Hello,” says the cashier, she sounded cheerful and lively, “What can I get you?” Jimin smiles back and orders two Fresh baked pretzel wrapped around an all-beef hot dog, freshly baked pretzel topped with pepperoni, jalapeno cheese and cream cheese for the dipping and two large ice cold raspberry tea. He swipes his credit card and she hands him a receipt, they find an empty table and sit down,

Jimin looks up from the receipt, “Remember when your mom brought us here when she was shopping for your tenth birthday present?”

“You have good memories hyung,” says Jungkook, “I remember coming to this mall but it's vague. I do remember begging my mom to buy me this infinity necklace as a gift for us.”

He pulls the necklace from his shirt, Jimin stares at it while gripping on to his own necklace, he never realized they were both still wearing the necklaces. Jimin has never taken it off except for when he was showering or dancing, so he doesn’t ruin it. The necklace became a part of him, he would forget he has it on most of the time, watching Jungkook smiling and talking about the necklace made him confident that Jungkook at least regards it special, whether it is romantic or friendship he still wasn’t sure. Everything felt like it hasn’t changed, no one brought up the topic and as confident as Jimin is of his feelings for Jungkook, he didn’t want to rush it, in fear that Jungkook may not feel the same.

“You know you could’ve just bought a teddy bear right,” he says teasing Jungkook, they both laugh,

“I bought it because it suits you and my feelings for you…”

“Order 396,” calls the cashier, interrupting Jungkook’s train of thought, he gets to get the food,“That’s us,” says Jungkook looking at the receipt on the table, “I got it.” He walks up to the counter,

Jimin sighs and lays his head on the table, disappointed. Jungkook comes back with their pretzels and drinks, he places them on the table. Jimin opens the jalapeno cream and dips a pretzel bite in it, he bites it talk about wrong timing, we were just starting to talk about the necklace. Jimin clenches his fist, cursing under his breath, savoring the creamy and salty taste before chewing on it. He picks up another one, dips it and holds it out for Jungkook,

“Taste it, promise you’ll like it.”

Jungkook slightly grabs Jimin’s hand and takes a bite of the pretzel while gazing at him, Jimin froze in place, his eyes on Jungkook’s lip. His cheeks flush as his heart start to beat faster, he couldn’t take his eyes off Jungkook even when he let go of his hand and started eating the pretzel. Jimin sighs, he moves, feeling hot, he feels like his body temperature went up, he touches his neck, he looks at Jungkook who was staring back at him, they both smile but quickly go back to eating their pretzels.

The way home was filled with laughter, talking about the things they did and what they missed the most, and glancing at each other a couple of times and laughing it off. They approach a red light and Jimin’s cell phones starts to ring,

“Can you answer that for me?” he asks, facing the front.

Jungkook picks up the phone,

“Mina?” he says, he answers the phone and notifies her that Jimin’s driving and will get back to her. He hangs up the phone, he puts it down and looks at Jimin, his whole sitting position changed. Jimin looks at back at him, he was looking out the window for a few seconds and then glances at Jimin,

“Is she your girlfriend?”

“Hahaha, Mina?” asks Jimin, the thought of Mina and he made him laugh, but when he looked back at Jungkook, he realizes he wasn’t laughing, rather he was serious, He can’t be jealous? Is he jealous? Jimin clears his throat,

“No, she is my friend, we used to go to college together before I dropped out,” he explains, hoping that it would ease him down if he is jealous, Jungkook nods and turns away,

“The light is green.”

A horn comes from behind them, “!” says Jimin and drives, he completely forgot he was behind the wheel.

“So, you must’ve dated a lot of girls, huh,” says Jimin, clenching the wheel, hoping that the answer is no.

“Not really,” says Jungkook, “Never had the time between my photography club, track, and classes. I did date a Thailand girl for a month, but I broke up with her because I wasn’t really feeling it. How about you?”

“Me? Ah, um…never really had the time either, I was too…focused on my dancing, taking part in competitions, winning many awards. Besides, I have had my eyes on someone for a long time,” says Jimin, eyeing Jungkook who was smiling but it wasn’t really a smile, he looked like he was in his own mind,

“Who is that person?”

“Guess,” says Jimin, “I’m sure you know him very well.”

Jimin pulls over Jungkook’s house,

“We’re here,” he says disappointed, even though he was going to see him at dinner, he was sad that the day ended so quickly,

“I had fun today, thanks, hyung,” says Jungkook, he was about to say something, but his phone starts to ring,

He pulls his phone out from his pocket,

“It’s my mom,” he says and answers the phone.

“Hello. Yeah, I just came home, want me to go buy something from the store. Seriously, mom, you should’ve called me when I was out, Okay.” He hangs up the phone,

“What’s up?” asks Jimin.

“She wants me to go buy something for her at the store but doesn’t want to bother the maid.”

“I can take you if you want?” offers Jimin.

“Um, its fine, don’t you have something to do with your dad?”

Jimin completely forgot, he had to help his father with some documents regarding the company, his dad told him in the morning before he left for work. Jungkook gets off the car,

“I’ll see you tonight, Jiminie-hyung.” Jimin watches him as he walks through the gate, he exhales, whimpering underneath his breath before starting the car and driving to his family company.
