Chapter 27: Jealousy

Innocent Love

The internship going better then he excepted, the woman, Mrs. Garcia,  in charge of helping him, was strain but fair, he met people he gets along with but most of the time he feels awkward because they knew his father was the CEO, so they pretty feel like he only got the internship because of that but he tries not to spend his energy pleasing people, the only way he can get rid of those rumors and talks is to prove to them that he has his own abilities, that does not include relying on his last name. He found himself falling asleep on the job, still not used to being in an office, even though his job consists of mostly using the computer and fetching and taking documents from management to management, he learned that he is really is not used to taking orders from people, today he had to sit through a meeting, he had no idea what was going, he was just jotting down bunch of notes, he later had to type up for Mrs. Garcia. Since his internship was only for six hours, he was done by two pm which means he still has time to go out and hang with his friends,

“Hey,” says Sarah, another intern, “Want grab lunch, Mike and I are going out.” Jimin sighs, he wanted to connect and establish a relationship with the people he is working with, but he had already made plans with Mina and Taehyung since they were off. He smiles at them before kindly rejecting her offer, telling her he already has plans. She smiles, and tells him, maybe next before walking away and joining the others. He punches out and heads out, driving straight to the café where he was meeting up with his friends, something they have not done in while, which Jimin blames himself for. He did not want to miss their meetings because he wanted to ask his friends for advice on how to come out to his father and makeup with Jungkook, something he still has no courage to do since he was the one who impulsively ended things without a proper explanation or reason. He walks into the café, and looks for his friends, he spots them, and he waves at them but was surprised to see Dahyun sitting with them, he smiles and walks to them,

“Hey,” he says, taking a seat next to Taehyung, “Long time no see Dahyun.”

“Hi, Jimin-oppa,” she replies waving at,

“Wow,” says Mina, looking at him, up and down, “Ya, I don’t think, I have ever seen you in a suit, you look handsome.” Jimin rolls his eyes at her sarcasm,

“So how are you guys doing?” he says, “Any plans for tonight?” Mina and Taehyung exchange looks, and shrug their shoulders,

“Can’t go out,” says Taehyung, “I already made plans.” Jimin and Mina look at each other, curious,

“With who?” they both say simultaneously,

“With Hoseok of course,” says Dahyun, “They got back together, didn’t he tell you guys.” Taehyung glares at his cousin, and she shrugs her shoulder, sipping her smoothie,

“Wow,” says Jimin, “When did this happen?”

“When you were going through your period and being a to us,” replies Mina. Jimin pouts,

“I already apologized, didn’t I,” he says, “Anyway, so you guys are serious now? I’m so happy for you Taehyung, you guys do belong together.”

“Yeah,” says Taehyung, “I’m not the only one in a relationship,” he looks at Mina with a smirk,

“She is dating Dahyun.” Jimin turns to look at his friend, just one week, he was out of touch with them, so much happened, he curses at himself, he still could not believe he abandon them like that, they probably needed to talk to him, feeling sorry, he was quiet for a bit,

“Now it’s time to fix things between Jungkook and you,” says Mina, wrapping her arm around him, “You really ed up, you better fix things before it’s too late.”

“I know,” says Jimin, “I’m just scared he hates me.”

“I saw Jungkook, an hour ago before coming here, he was at Starbucks,” says Dahyun, everyone turning to stare at her, “He didn’t look mad, he was with a friend of his.” Jimin eyeballs at her, curious,

“Who?” he asks, suddenly,

“A girl?” says Jimin, feeling uncomfortable, “It’s was probably Sana, so how do I tell my dad, I’m gay?” His friends look at him, for a second before laughing,

“Tell him in Korean,” says Taehyung, mocking him, Jimin shakes his head, not in the mood,

“How else would you tell him,” says Mina, “Just tell him, there really is no such thing as good timing, tell him and go from there.”

“You make it sound easy,” says Jimin, looking down at his drink,

“It’s not, he’ll be disappointed but that’s what kids are for,” she says, “We live to disappoint our parents, we’re not clays they can twist and turn to morph us into what they want us to be.”

“Well, said,” says Taehyung, patting her on the back, she shoves his hand away, he laughs.

He reaches home, that went longer than he anticipated, but they were right, he just has to be honest and let whatever happens, happen, he can’t worry about the consequences without taking the first step, his parents were not home, his dad at work and his mom at her community project, he walks to his room, sitting on the bed after dropping his bag on the floor, he twirls with the ring, he picks up his cellphone and dials Jungkook’s number, hesitating for a second before pressing the call button, the phone goes straight to voicemail, he turns off the phone, tossing it on the other side of the bed,

“Arghhhh,” he shouts, closing his eyes, after showering and dressing, he decided to go to Jungkook’s house, he should be home around this hour, just two weeks, and he feels like he missed out on a lot, not sure of what Jungkook is doing, if he got that internship he was talking about? Was he out, hanging out with Sana? Taking pictures? Feeling sad or not even caring anymore? He stands outside the gate, breathing in and out, he was about to ring the bell but a tap on his shoulder scares him, making him jump, he turns around quickly, it was Sana, she looks at him,

“Sana,” he says, he looks around, Jungkook was not with her,

“Jimin-oppa,” she says, “What’re you doing here?”

“Ummm…. says Jimin, laughing, “I’m here to see Jungkook, is he here?” Sana raises her eyebrows, holding her arms, “Didn’t you two break up? What do you want with him? Jimin, moves to the other side, annoyed,

“I don’t you an explanation,” he says, “I just need to talk to him.”

She smirks, “I don’t know where he is, I left him at home, he might be out. He is not going to just sit and wait for you to make up your mind.” She presses the gate bell and it opens,

“Weren’t you out with him?” says Jimin,

“No,” replies Sana, “I was at the mall.” Jimin watches her as she walks, confused, didn’t Dahyun just say, she saw him with a friend at a Starbucks if it was not Sana, who else could it be? He just moved to Los Angeles, a month ago, besides Jimin and his friends, he didn’t really know anyone else. Sana turns around and looks at him,

“He was probably out with Lalisa,” she says,

“Lalisa?” says Jimin, the name sounded familiar, he heard Jungkook talk about her briefly, the Thailand girl he went out,

“I thought she was in Seoul,” says Jimin, his chest tightening,

“She didn’t live in Seoul, she was there for a studying abroad program, guess what they are doing an internship at the same place, what a small world?” says Sana and walks away. Jimin irritated at the tone of her voice, clenches his teeth, he shakes his head going back to his house.

He slams the door, the image of Jungkook being anywhere near Lalisa, made his ache, he knew it was ridiculous for him to think this way because he is sure Jungkook is gay but the thought of him, being with his ex-girlfriend, made Jimin’s blood boil. Feeling like the air in the house was tightening and the walls closing in, he decided to go to Taehyung, he bangs on the door, the door opens, Taehyung stares at him puzzled, Jimin without saying anything walks past him,

“Jimin,” says Hoseok, “Hi.” Jimin stops, feeling embarrassed for showing up unannounced,

“Hi,” he replies, smiling, “Sorry, I didn’t know you had someone over.”

“Yeah, you could’ve called,” says Taehyung, eyeballing him “We’re just about to head out.”

“Sorry,” says Jimin, “Um…I’ll go,”

“Jimin,” calls Hoseok, Jimin turns and looks at him, Hoseok whispers something to Taehyung,

“It’s fine, you stay, I have things to do.” He squeezes Jimin’s shoulder and walks past him and out of the door,

“Sorry for ruining your date,” he says, feeling bad, he just wanted to talk to Taehyung, if anyone can make sense of things for him is Taehyung,

“You look upset,” says Taehyung, “What’s up?”

Jimin sits down on the couch, face sullen, Taehyung sits beside him,

“Something happened?” Jimin silent, fidgets with his hands, not knowing how to form the words, and make sense of what he was feeling,

“You know the girl Dahyun saw Jungkook with?”

“Sana?

“It was not Sana, it was Lalisa,” says Jimin, pouting. Taehyung looks at him dumbfounded,

“Who the is Lalisa?”

“His ex-girlfriend, the girl he dated in Seoul,” mutters Jimin.

“Um…who did she get to Los Angeles?” says Taehyung, confused, Jimin glares at him,

“So, he runs into an old flame, he is gay, why is it…” Taehyung turns to stares at Jimin, “Are you jealous?”

“Huh? me jealous,” he snorts, “Pssh, I have never been jealous of anyone in my entire life, let alone of some girl, I don’t even know.”

“Omg,” says Taehyung, laughing, “You’re so jealous, I have never seen you so helpless.” Jimin shoves him away,

“I mean where the did she even popped up from,” he says, angry, “Just a few weeks, I didn’t talk to him, he is out with his ex, .” Taehyung squeezes his shoulder,

“That’s why you need to talk to him before he really moves on,” says Taehyung, “Better get your act together, gay or straight, old flames always make us relive memories.” Jimin clenches his fingers, digging his nails into his skin, his body heating up, he punches Taehyung on the shoulder,

“You’re so ing annoying, Jungkook would never be with anyone else,” he shouts before stamping out the house,

“I’m serious!” shouts Taehyung, Jimin slams the door and walks to his car, angrier,

“Arghhhh! He shouts, ruffling his hair.

He arrives home, and walks towards his room, he bumps into his mother on the stairs,

“Ya!” scolds his mom, “What the hell?”

“Sorry, mom,” he says, rushing into his room and slamming the door. He falls on the bed, screaming into the pillow, seeing red, the door opens, and his mom walks in,

“What’s the matter with you?”

“Nothing!” he shouts, his voice muffled by the pillow,

“You almost broke the door, slamming it like that, something happens at the office?”

“I said it was nothing,” he says. His mom exhales, shaking her head, closing the door.

He didn’t want to eat dinner, but his father forced him because he had guests over, people he thought he would never have to meet, Sulli and her parents, he was too irritated to deal with anyone but calm himself down, trying not to be rude, he stayed quiet throughout the whole dinner, shoving food in his mouth so he didn’t have to talk to anyone. After dinner, they sat outside drinking wine and chatting, Jimin oblivious to everything, his eyes on Jungkook’s house, he couldn’t tell if he already arrived at home, Sulli comes sit next to him,

“Are you okay?” she asks

“What?”

“You look annoyed,” she explains, he sighs,

“Why are your parents here?” he asks, not intending to be rude but he didn’t care, she looks at him, confused, and shrugs her shoulders, she was about to say something but Jimin stands up, he spots Jungkook and beside him was a someone he could see from the angle he was sitting, he excuses him. His mom glares at him, he forces a smile,

“Um…I need to go get something from Jungkook,” he quickly says, walking way before his parents ask any more questions.  He walks out the gate and stops, after seeing the girl, he didn’t recognize her, but he assumes it was Lalisa unless Jungkook had any more friends. Jungkook hugs her, helping her into the car, Jimin’s fist clenches, his heart racing, he couldn’t move, he felt like he couldn’t breathe, he has never witness Jungkook hug anyone else besides him, his mouth curls up, as he tries to get a hold of himself, the car drives away, he watches him as he waves at the car. He crosses the street walking towards Jungkook, startling him,

“Hyung?” says Jungkook, perplexed, “What’re you doing here?” Jimin too angry to form words, just glares at Jungkook, Jungkook stares back him, confused,

“She is the reason, you never answered my call today?” he shouts.

“Ahh…” says Jungkook, pulling his cell phone from his pocket, “You called?”

“Don’t act like you didn’t know?” says Jimin, his voice cracking, “Just one week, I took a break from you, you’re already out, laughing and hugging other people.” Jungkook’s eyes widen, mouth open, trying to make sense of what was happening,

“Um, do you want to come in,” he says, “Let’s talk inside, hyung.” He was about to take Jimin’s hand, but he shrugs it off, turning around, heading home, Jungkook grabs his wrist,

“Ya! Jiminie-hyung,” he says, upset, “You don’t just show up angry out of nowhere, and just leave without an explanation.” Jimin tries to push his hand out of his grip but was unable to,

“What’s there to explain? Isn’t she Lalisa, your ex-girlfriend?”

“So?” says Jungkook, “She works at the place, I’m interning at, you would’ve known if you didn’t break up with me, you asked for space and I just respected your wish.” Jimin sighs, he was right, he had no right to be mad at Jungkook, he was the one who walked away from him, everything was jumbling up in his head, he was jealous he could not think straight, taking his anger out at Jungkook. He sniffs holding back his tears,

“Why are you here?” says Jungkook, Jimin turns to face him, his face flushing with anger,

“Because I realized what an idiot I am, to apologize for pushing and abandoning you,” he says, “But it seems like you are already over it.” Jungkook lets go his wrist, he laughs but Jimin could tell if  he was mad, he exhales in disbelieve, he looked like he was about to say something but takes a deep breath, he looks at Jimin, with an intense sharp gaze,

“You’re really unbelievable,” he says,

“So, you don’t want to get back together with me?” asks Jimin, quietly, staring down at his feet.

Jungkook pulls him in, wrapping his arms around him, squeezing him tight, Jimin dumbfounded, stood still, everything standing still, all the anger, jealousy that overtook his mind, vanishing, he felt his body press in, soft and warm, he wraps his arms around Jungkook, squeezing him tighter, resenting himself for walking away from him, he didn’t realize how much he missed him. How could it be that he hadn't seen Jungkook's love for what it was before? Pure. Unselfish. Undemanding. Jungkook his hair, Jimin inhales his sweet cologne.

“I’m sorry.” The words hardly managing to break out as the sob's he was holding in chocked his voice back.  Jungkook’s chin rested on top of his head. his arms clenching him tighter.

“Don’t ever push me away,” Jungkook whispers into his ear.
"Never again, I promise."
