Chapter 11: Something New and Exciting

Innocent Love

It was early in the morning when they decided to leave, the three-day trip coming to an end. With Jimin as the driver and Jungkook in the passenger seat, the rest were fast asleep in the back. He asked Taehyung what the fight was about, but Taehyung didn’t want to talk about it, he was surprised when Jimin gave him the ointments and told him they were from Hoseok, he took the bag without adding another word. The rest of the day ended with them having a late-night barbecue feast, around a fire, listening to music by the Chainsmokers and DJ Khalid, laughing, talking and eating until two in the morning.

Only thirty more minutes until they reach the city, Jimin glances back at the others and turns to look at Jungkook, who smiles back at him,

“That was a lot more fun than I thought,” says Jungkook, “The host was cool, it like I was on a professional cruise or something.”

“Yeah, Mina’s friends are usually cool,” says Jimin, with a smirk, Jungkook cuffs, smiling,

Jimin stares at him for a second, wanting to ask what their relationship status is, now that they have shared a kiss, but he puts the thought out of his mind, hoping not to pressure him or move fast, realizing they still have a long way to go, his heart flutters at the thought of being together with him.

After a long drive and dropping off his friends, Jungkook and he was the last stop, they decide to stop for breakfast at an IHOP before heading home, Jungkook orders Strawberries & Cream Crepes with a cup of coffee and Jimin orders, a pancake combo with two sunny side up eggs, bacon strips and hash browns, and a cup of coffee, tired and hungry, he didn’t care about checking for calories like he usually does as a dancer.

“So, do you have dance class today?” asks Jungkook.

“Nah, I told them I’ll be away for a week,” replies Jimin, laughing,

“Why a week?” asks Jungkook, puzzled.

Jimin smirks, “Cause’ I want to spend more time with you,” he replies. Jungkook smiles silently for a second, he lowers his head, Jimin stares at him as he stares at his food,

“Jiminie-hyung,” he says,

“Hmm?”

“Are we…um… Will you be my boyfriend?” Jimin’s eyes widen at the straightforward question, surprised he almost choked on his pancake, he covers his mouth coughing, Jungkook hands him his cup of coffee,

“Are You okay?”

He takes a sip of coffee forgetting it was hot, he quickly puts down the cup, ! Am I really making a mess of myself in front of someone who just asked me out? Hurry and give him an answer, he curses at himself. He clears his throat, straightening himself out, this is what he has been waiting for for the past nine years, turning down everyone who approached him, females and males that have asked him out have been rejected by him. But the realization that he has never been in a relationship before makes him scared, what if it doesn’t work out like I want? What if I disappoint him? Am I good enough? How are we going to date if both of us are not out to our families? How comfortable is he is with himself? Are we moving too fast, is it impulse or a childhood fantasy? Jimin shrinks in his chair with so many thoughts running through his head, the touch of Jungkook’s hand on his hand startles him as he straightens himself out, he gazes at Jungkook, trying to find the words but finds himself biting his lower lip and heart thumping against his chest,

“Hyung?” says Jungkook, “Are you okay?”

He shakes his head, clearing his thoughts, he hates when he gets trapped inside his own head, making everything else vanish and unable to think or forms words, whenever he is stressed he always sits in silence with nothing to say, his mind running in many directions, he smiles slightly,

“I’m sorry,” he says, “I…d…don…do not know what’s wrong with me.” Jungkook interlocks his fingers with Jimin's looking him straight in the eyes as if he can sense his worries, and brush them away in an instant, stare back at him, a feeling of euphoria washed over him, bringing him back to his old self, with his fingers his squeezes Jungkook’s hand softly, he casts aside his worries and smiles at Jungkook.

“Yeah,” he finally replies, “I…want…to be your boyfriend, but…” he says, Jungkook raises his eyebrow, anticipating the next response,

“I never dated anyone before!” shouts Jimin, cheeks red as people turn to them, squirming in his seat, cursing himself at his childish behavior, Jungkook’s eyes still for a minute, he finally bursts out laughing,

“What’s funny?” he asks, pouting.

“Nothing,” replies Jungkook, “I can’t believe you shouted that so loud.” Embarrassed, he unlaces his fingers from Jungkook, picks up his fork and digs into his pancake, shoves a piece in his mouth,

“Careful, hyung, you’ll choke again,” he teases him.

They arrive home, not wanting to separate from each other, they linger in the car, creating small talks, the distance between their houses suddenly becoming big, they both steal a glance at each other, filled with excitement and shyness with thoughts of being in a relationship,

“You should get some rest,” says Jimin, “You must be tried.”

Jungkook nods his head, “You too, Jiminie-hyung,” he unbuckles his seat belts and as he was getting ready to get off the car, Jimin grabs the back of his shirt, slightly, Jungkook turns to look at him, curious,

“Um…” says Jimin, not knowing why he did that when he had nothing else to say, wanting to ask for a goodbye kiss or hug but not daring, he quietly says, “Take care of yourself.”

“You too,” says Jungkook, “I’ll see you.” He gets off the car and begins walking to his house, Jimin’s eyes follow him, Jungkook stops and turns around, he smiles and waves at Jimin, who waves back at him. Jimin’s eyes follow him until he disappeared out of sight, he sighs, turns the car on and drives through the gates and parks the minivan. He gives the key to the security guard to hand to Mr. Stevens to return it, not wanting to deal with people. He opens the door, he hears chatters coming from the living room, curious he walks to the living room, his mom and Jungkook’s mom were chatting, and playing cards in the living room with two of their close friends,

“Hi mom, hi aunties,” he greets,

“You guys are back?” says Jungkook’s mom, “Did you guys have fun?”

“Yes, we did,” answers Jimin, holding back his excitement, after chitchatting with them for a few minutes, he excuses himself.

He throws his bag on the floor, throwing himself on the bed, exhausted,  I’m going out with Jungkook-ah!! He screams internally as he rolls around the bed, hugging his pillow tight.
